  1. So, yesterday, I was browsing Newegg and out of curiosity, I checked the rankings of the most sold UPS and it was this: https://www.newegg.ca/cyberpower-cp1500pfclcd-nema-5-15r/p/N82E16842102134 The CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD. Anybody has this? Is it reliable? I know that older versions were a ticking bomb because some kind of product would turn conductive but that seemed something of the past. Because otherwise, it ticks all my boxes and more.
  2. That's my understanding as well. I want a UPS to protect my hardware from extremely short power outages (that I call "flashes"). If the power goes out for a longer period of time, that I'll be able to close my Minisforum PC, NAS and main PC in that specific order. In other words, a controlled shutdown. If I didn't have my PC to worry about, I'd get a cheaper 100W one and call it a day. However, because my PC takes much more watts than anything else I listed... like, 566W at 90% TDP but I have only a 600W bank... it'll be depleted in a flash. I don't decide when power outages happen either. I could only be browsing or I could render a video or I could play a game. If I happen to do something more taxing, well, I need the UPS to have enough juice so I can cancel everything and do a control shutdown. Also, I'm not a business lol. Just the regular consumer that is tired of playing Russian Roulette every time a "flash" happens and have to read "(NAS Name) has had frequent improper shutdowns. Consider getting a UPS." messages from my NAS.
  3. Hey y'all. I'm not really sure where to make this thread... since that's power related, I guess that could in PSUs. So, I'm looking to buy a UPS from Eaton. I was looking at that one: https://www.eaton.com/ca/en-gb/skuPage.5S1000LCD.html (Eaton 5S1000LCD if page 404'd even though I just copied it off their site) It can give 600W if I understand it. I want to attach to it the following device: - My Synology NAS (Model: DS1821+ - 4×10TB WD Red Pro drives, extra 10gbe ethernet card) - My Asus RT-AX86U router - FTTH Nokia ONT - My main desktop and everything related (see my rig for details) - A Minisforum Mini-PC - A Nintendo switch - A LED lamp My PC, according to Extreme Outer Vision PSU calculator, at 90% TDP, my PC could pull around 566W and it has a 800W Seasonic PSU. Now, obviously, I'm never running my PC that hard for long. Heck, I'm most likely pulling barely 150W coz I'm most doing surfing stuff. Maybe I could do with less? BEFORE I FORGET I want the thing to be silent. My place at work as some Eaton UPSes and they are NOISY AF. That's also because the thing will be in my bedroom. So, yeah. There's no budget yet set for this. But I'd be preferably looking for less than 500$CAD. Thanks for the help and suggestions in advance. I really could use for advice.
  4. Another review, another review where they forgot to post the base specs. If you're not going to dedicate 15-30 seconds of video to say the base specs, please, for the love of gawd, add a line in the graphs with the base specs of the bench(es). I know that there is that 7800X3D video where you guys try to dind the most identical 7800X3D out of a bunch of them and you might have used those benches for this. However, it has to be repeated every time, on every review. Like, seriously. LABS is all good and all but if you can't get that right, it'll kind of be hard to trust LABS... because, right now, you can say "What are the base specs for the bench? A Pentium 4? My ass?"
  5. Because searching Google, obviously, gives you the "here's what to need to do to make your internet faster!!!!!!!!!" and ignoring the question straight up. I have a gigabit internet connection as of 30/09/2023. I mean, SYMETRICAL on fiber. I know Upload is hardware intensive on my side and, heck, I don't expect YT to even remotely utilize all my gigabit connection. 20mbit was the upload of my previous internet connection... I have 100GB of RAW VG footage I want to upload on YouTube because why not. I subbed to that speed to get the upload speed because I was sick and tired of having 20mbit. (note: I subbed to FTTH the minute it became avaialble in my area and yes, it was just made available a month ago). So, does anybody why YT limits the upload to such slow speeds? Is there a way around it? On Firefox 118.0.2 Cheers. FAKE EDIT: Canadian
  6. What Eigenvektor said. I have a R9 5900X and I'm legitimately on Windows 11 without the workarounds to avoid the check. I have enabled both TPM and secure boot and, voilà! Compatible!
  7. No, I see why. They want to uphold what they promised back after the break in August. They fucked up, gave up wrong info about shipping and whatnot. So, they'll have to correct it. That was the correct course of actions imo. Also, correcting about the statement about the performance of the 4060 Ti 8GB would be swell as well.
  8. Yeah. I gave the vide a thumbs up, wanted to see comments and then I saw the comments weren't loading. I refreshed the page to find a private video. They might have found a lot of mistakes that need the video to be made private. The reply above the performance of the 4060 Ti 8GB is one. The reply by @BamiGroenteis also another thing... Also that eco-friendly sponsor messaging by UGREEN is a big load of bullocks. By... 2050?! You guys realize it's in TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS, right?
  9. Good catch. @LMGcommunity plz tell the team to pin a note in the comments about this! Nothing deal breaking here but something to fix none-the-less.
  10. Agreed. That's why I said I'm surprised they didn't go with the rest. They really have their goal to heart and that they were never lying about it.
  11. I'm surprised that LTT didn't post the Radeon 7800 XT (and 7700 XT) at embargo lift like the other outlets (which you guys all know what outlets I'm talking about). Hopefully, it really means a well thought out video and that the delay is caused by errors they found along the way and decided to postpone for the sake of the video and review quality. I really hope it's what's going on. I really want LTT to follow through because I'm still on the "Press X to doubt" bandwagon. I've had a more attentive eye and hear since they started to slowly release videos again. Anyway, I'd also love LTT to get peer reviews on their future reviews (PERSONAL OPINION) but seeing how the relationship between other outlets seems to be going... I wouldn't bet too much about that. Unfortunately. I'm just putting my thoughts out there. Feel free to comment, or not.
  12. bruh. by the end of the video, they even debunk what you made the whole f'ing thread about, WHAT THEY SAID IN THE INTRO and even posted the damn sources in the description that say that, indeed, light-imitting device does not harm vision. god fucking grieffers.
  13. *facepalm* Nope, they didn't learn from the backlash from the "What do we do now?" video thread about people being pissed off (rightly) about the Floatplane exclusivity for the first hour or so. *sigh* Come on. For any other video I don't care but these kind of videos shouldn't have any kind of exclusivity and never be monetized.
  14. Drama will get LOTS of clicks, warranted or not. It goes for absolutely everything: celebrities messy break ups, cheating in speedrunning, scandals in politics... A.ny.thing.
  15. I'd say... a router! This thing could be one heck of a beast of a router. With a Linux distro of some sort, throw one or multiple LAN cards... find a case small enough and tuck it in a corner. That's what I would personally use it for anyway.
  16. If I were to have rated that video, it would have been a 3. It was scripted and planned but not very serious. But also data started to play a role. What we don't know (at least I don't) is, what was Billet's goal? For them to try it out? If it was just that, a 3 is a max in seriousness. Anyways, the guidleine I wrote were just my ideas on how I would use it. That's why I ended my post with "anything I described above shouldn't be used as-is by LMG." It could be used and be used seriously. But I guess people don't see my post as serious anyway...
  17. The only idea I have besides slowing down is a "JANK METER" that would be displayed at the beginning of each video, on any channel that can have data in any way. The scale would be 0 to 5. Rating 5 on the JANK METER: This is full-on jank. The video is for entertainment only and any data, if any is shown or calculated, is not to be taken seriously at all. The video is unscripted. So, this could go for streams, especially those where there are "punishments" (ie. hot sauce or cheez whiz). Errors will happen and erronous opinions can be heard. These videos are spontaneous and don't have much preparation, if at all. Rating 4 on the JANK METER: This is scripted (or at least partially) full-on jank. The video was written in advance and plans to show some kind of testing such as some kind of "what happens if." Still, the video is for entertainement only and any data derived from it, is not to be taken seriously. Errors will happen, except when it comes to factual data (such as specification on parts). Personal unrelated opinion can still be heard in this category, but it is the last category for them to be allowed. Rating 3 on the JANK METER: The middle ground: scripted video with jokes, some form of light correct data. Specification data can be corrected on screen because the video because the video was intended for entertainment. Examples of video could be revisiting old or weird hardware, etc. Opinions can still be heard but it is related to products and functionality and should be backed up with reasons. Rating 2 on the JANK METER: The video is 100% scripted but can contain some kind of randomness that might lead to some controlled jank. For example, an unboxing on Short Circuit. The data, if any, should start to have some kind of oversight because, at this level, some people might start to take things more seriously. As such, any specification on-screen and said out loud should be accurate from this point on. If any errors happen here, they should be of no consequences to the hardware shown and, for specifications, those that overview filming should automatically correct the host which will then correct themselves. On-screen corrections can happen but not encouraged. QC is picking up here. Rating 1 on the JANK METER: The video is 100% scripted and thought out. For unboxings, should be very strict and the process entirely is planned to a T. At this point, there is no excuses to get data wrong and, if there is any testing, it can and will be used for a purchase decision. No errors should be present but on-screen correction can still be used SPARRINGLY and only if it's something that wouldn't change the outcome of a test or related to specification. Staff SHOULD ask for a reshoot the minute a data error is heard or should be refilmed if one is found out later. The video is QC'ed heavily. The difference between rating 1 and 0 is that 1 can still have jokes in the script. Factory tours of any kind have this rating solely because of the fact that you are not in a studio proper and that corrections might not be possible to do on the spot. Rating 0 on the JANK METER: Absolutely no JANK allowed whatsoever. The tone of the video is at its most serious and devoid of any joking (and LTTStore plugs). The data should be 100% accurate and on-screen correcting should NEVER EVER be used. The video has been very well thought out, QC'ed, even peer reviewed, checked over and over again and released when the data is 100% correct and the whole team is absolutely sure of their results. This is used for serious hardware reviews and *any* official Labs data. -- To finish, this is my idea for the meter and anything I described above shouldn't be used as-is by LMG. If they decide to go with this idea, I hope you describe the levels and make them publicly available for everybody to read. Then, it SHOULD be followed to a T.
  18. This is my comment on the video on YouTube which had 6 thumbs up. Those were my general thoughts on the matter this morning after watching. But this forum never changes, it's still full of trash takes. People absolutely expect the moon and, even if we offered them the moon, it wouldn't be enough. Then, I ask you: why tf are you still here? Nobody's holding you. Go troll somewhere else! Also, I absolutely must remind everybody, like a few people have did already... when the apology was written, shot and edited... Madison still hadn't spoken out. Even if she had, I don't think it would have been good to go back and re-edit the script to include that. What I expect at this point, after reading some garbo take from the thread, since there were some pearls after all, is that it's extremely sensitive. At minimum, I want them to acknowledge the claims. At best, I'd like a guarantee that, after whatever investigation they decide to run, that somebody or multiple somebodies get fired - popular host or not. I have no proof of this but, this was probably a team effort video. Probably a lot of people were writing this video together. So saying that they strained their staff again for probably the single and only video they did that day? Yeah, well... you know where I'm going with this. Review your definition of "crunch". Anyway, my "Press X to doubt" still holds until there are concrete actions and I'd like GN to come back several months later and check some past videos with data to see if anything was wrong. In hindsight, I entirely agree with this. These shouldn't have been included *at all*. The joke "words about our sponsor" spots were the most really, really cringe worthy. That's what made me go wtf the most. Also, hearing "d-brand offered to sponsor"... at least they told us that they offered. The way it was worded clearly makes it apparent that they refused the sponsorship. That's good. But it raises another question: WHAT THE FUCK D-BRAND?! Sponsoring an apology video? Are you serious? I really hope that wasn't serious to begin with... My 2¢ once again...
  19. Wow, there's a lot of garbage being spat around here. Good for Madison for coming out. I bet it took a lot of courage. Madison is a strong woman and needs the whole community to APPLAUD her for coming out. But, of course, people are shitting on her saying "why didn't you speak out sooner buhuh?!"... Look bro, you CLEARLY are a WHITE MALE in POSITION OF POWER to say that. YOU never HAD to speak out against anybody. You don't have to feel the pressure of being repressed because YOU are the one that's repressing others. You are part of the problem. Also, all the other feelings Madison must have felt like... the fear of being harmed and DOXXED by toxic fans, being ignored, helplessness, etc. YOU don't KNOW these feelings until it happens to YOU. Madison was amazing. I also worry for all other women in the company, especially those that think of transitioning or are currently transitioning (Emily Young, I think about you!). I've seen the usual garbage transphobic assholes in the comments and, from the few replies I read earlier in this thread, I can say that a lot of you are misogynist as well. I've seen whataboutism too. I will not talk about what can be done, who should do what or if justice should be brought up because that's not my expertise and, clearly, a lot of people think they are experts on this. No, you are not. Just shut up. It's about Madison and her experience and all those women that are being oppressed in LMG. It needs a SERIOUS look at. I am waiting for another video from the company that AT LEAST acknowledge the issue. It's the VERY STRICT MINIMUM. Then, ACT towards fixing the issues and outing the toxic employees - even if these employees are famous video hosts. That said, I'm out. And, yes, the caps are necessary because you actually need shouting to get through some people. Bolding, making italic and underlining text is not enough anymore.
  20. He said that he wouldn't stop the employees from unionizing but, if they do so, he would consider that a failure on his part. Now, wether or not that's pro or anti-union, I can't say for you. For me, he seems pro-union but doesn't want to see it happening at his company because it would break his pride as a boss. ...at this point, I kind of wish they did just that as part of the backlash.
  21. I was hoping for another response until this point but appears that, no, Linus didn't respond further. I'm so fucking disappointed @LinusTech . I gave you the benefit of the doubt with that response. If I had known this would have come up, I wouldn't have bought the pins I did last Friday. Can't cancel them now since they're shipped. The fact that a small company asked for their shit back, didn't send it back, charity auction it off, then only reached out to them AFTER GN posted their video? That's scumbag AF. Now, that microscopic silver lining. I believe what he said in the statement more extremely misleading that an outright lie. They reached out because of the GN video and that's what Lienus has talked about in his "statement" - hence why it's misleading and not an outright lie and that's the microscopic silver lining. Of all the things in GN's video yesterday, this was the most egregious one by far and, somehow, managed to make it even worse. He claims that there won't be anything about that on the WAN show but I don't believe that anymore. It will be ALL ABOUT THAT. Nobody's going to let that fly under the radar, just to be swept under the rug. I'm not retracting the words I said. You fucking deserve all the fucking backlash you get for it. Your very next action will decide wether or not I stay subbed or not. And this action, it better not trigger a 3rd negative GN video. You are lucky Billet Labs don't have the means to send you to court over this because they would 100% have a case and the receipts to show for it. And, you know what? I was about to criticize GN's approach on their video yesterday when I woke up earlier but that all changed when I was made aware of the second video. I've seen enough to get the gist of it and I can guess Steve has said. I know you will read this Linus. So, I hope you don't fucking skimp on your next response.
  22. Just to add on this, this is why you see journalist on TV say "we tried to reach (person) for comments but we haven't heard back so far." or, if they did, they'll tell you what they said or show a clip of a filmed interview on the matter. So, yes, it is good practice.
  23. I say "boss" because I report to him but, himself, he isn't the big boss; it's the board of the directors. The Board said that needed to cut in Human Resource. Anyway, I'll file for help from the Gov. after that. I'll see what I need then. I like them so much. Just the fact that they took me off welfare for 2 years... I just don't want to hurt my relationship with them. There's more to this but I don't want to lay more info.
  24. That's already done. I'm waiting for the "call" from the professionals to get diagnosed. I don't think it violates anything. I'm not doing any job, so they don't have to pay me. Well, I don't exactly have the funds or the room to acquire any new hardware right now. I'll be strapped for cash for a very long time and I need *at least* 10TB for a single backup to be done. So, basically, I would need another computer and 1k$ in hard drives. Even if I could afford it, there's so many other things I would love to save for. Example: a car or a chair that doesn't hurt my ass.
