  1. I definitely won't buy anything second-hand. Any thoughts on the 2060, 1070Ti? Monitor has G-Sync, so I'd prefer an NVidia card.
  2. There's seem to be 3 types of 2060's for sale, all go for approx 370 dollars (two and one fan designs). Now that I think about it, the 1070Ti is within my price range, (an extra 35 dollars is okay), so maybe that's an option. About the motherboard - I'm not gonna upgrade my motherboard to support two cards, since one should be enough, so I guess that answers that - I'll just sell the 1060.
  3. Do you buy a phone with a waterproof feature to go swimming with it? Of course not. I doubt anyone'd go through the hassle to remove the water-seal, since there's no real reason to. Also, can't you open the phone back/case and see if it has waterproofing on the battery? If it does, it probably hasn't been messed with...
  4. The 500W PSU should be fine, I'm currently looking for an upgrade to my GPU aswell, as far as i know the RTX card's aren't the best choice due to the fact that they have a fairly useless feature on them (almost no games use raytracing), they're also new and expensive. In case you're interested, here's a link to my thread.
  5. Hello! Bought an amazing monitor for sale recently, but my GPU isn't really good enough to "power" my system, so I'd like to hear your opinions on which GPU to go for. Windows 10, 64 bit Corsair RM 550X (550W, recently upgraded with the help of this forum, thanks!) AMD Ryzen 5 2600X NVIDIA 1060 3GB ASRock A320M-HDV Predator Z1 (2560 x 1440, 144Hz) After reading a bunch of threads on this and other forums, I've heard a lot of good stuff about the 1070 - it's fairly inexpensive, has good performance. There's a couple for sale in a good shop in my town, specifically this version: link. It'd cost me around 400 dollars. The RTX 2060 is fairly new, and the RTX feature isn't really interesting to me, but it is more powerful, so could that be a viable option? I've heard that the new RTX cards are somewhat unstable/bad. I don't really care about playing on maximum graphics (hooked on Apex Legends right now, if that's relevant), so as long as i get a stable 144fps, I don't mind playing on medium, maybe even low graphics. The highest i could go would be 450$ or so. Also, what should I do with my current 1060 3GB after I upgrade? Should i try to sell it to a friend, or keep it in my PC (I'm pretty sure my motherboard can't have 2 GPU's)? Thank you for your time!
  6. Fair enough, the games I plan on playing are mostly GPU intensive, so the CPU upgrade will definitely have to wait for a while. I've heard that the newer 20XX NVidia cards are in a questionable state, since they are supposedly not really all that stable, and break easily (malfunction might be the right word), have you heard anything about this? I know this is the PSU section of the forum, so this might be sort of unrelated.
  7. I noticed that after updating my graphics driver, my sound output changes from my headphones to my monitor, which has a built-in speaker, so it might be something similar. Maybe have a look in the Windows settings.
  8. From what I read, it's almost always better to just have one strong GPU, not two medium ones. Also, the newer NVidia cards are a bit iffy, so i'd hold off on the purchase for a while.
  9. I checked out this website, which Linus recommended in an older video, and the recommended PSU Wattage is approx. 380. I'm planning to buy a beefier video card closer to the end of the year, and eventually upgrade the CPU (though for now it's more than adequate), so I think that 550 would be a decent amount. Any clue if this PSU Tier List from this forum is more or less up to date? I could buy the Corsair RM550x 550W, Be Quiet! Straight Power 11 550W, maybe one of the Cooler Master ones. A lot of people seem to recommend the Be Quiet! PSU's, so that might be the one I go for. Since the ATX is a standard, I should be able to figure it out myself, I guess. Another question, If i were to upgrade my GPU from a 1060 3GB to a, (ideally) RTX 2080, even 550W probably wouldn't be enough to supply it, right? My 1060 can use up to 120W, the 2080 can use about 225. NVidia themselves recommend 650W PSU for the 2080.
  10. Hello! The performance of my PC has been lacking due to a low quality PSU, so I'd like to upgrade it (I experience complete system shutdowns on high load, Kernel Power Error 41). My system is: Windows 10, 64 bit SL-500A PSU AMD Ryzen 5 2600X NVIDIA 1060 3GB ASRock A320M-HDV Samsung 970 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2 500GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 C16 2x8GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB A couple of friends, acquaintances recommenced me the following PSU's - Fortron Hydro GE 550W, Fortron Hyper M85+ 650W, Be Quiet Pure Power 11, Be Quiet Straight Power 11, Corsair RM550x, Corsair TX550m. Does anyone have experience with the aforementioned PSU's? Also, how exactly would I go about checking the compatibility of the PSU with my motherboard? Supposedly, websites like pcpartpicker have built-in compatibility checks, can they be trusted? My budget is around 100 euros (give or take twenty if the quality changes a lot), which is approx 120 US dollars. Thanks for your time!
  11. Great, thank you very much for the help, felt like i was using customer service or something, haven't had someone help me with a question that well... ever, i think.
  12. Here's the link If you need more, just tell me what exactly interests you. Seems like it's using an adapter of sorts, not that i really know that.
  13. Alright, I'll speak to him later about these two suggestions, I'll see what he offers as well. Is the Pure Power 11 going to be good enough? It only has 400W. I've noticed you have an Acer Predator monitor, how is it working out for you? My Predator Z1 has an odd glitch/feature - when I'm watching a YouTube video, or a movie using VLC, the screen turns on and off for a second or two, when i move my mouse. During gaming, while watching movies without moving my mouse it works flawlessly.
  14. Glad that it's not a temperature issue, was already planning to purchase some beefier cooler. If you're interested, i can take a couple of photos for you, but that doesn't worry me, since it's working just fine. Since you're going as far as suggesting me something, I live in Latvia, so I can get deliveries from all over Europe. The budget is around 100 euros, since I'm not planning to upgrade my system any time soon, I don't want to spend too much money on it. I have an acquaintance who works in a warehouse, so if you'd throw me a couple of ideas, we should be able to find it in storage. Thanks a lot for your help, you replied super quickly and you're going the extra mile, surprised that the linus forum is so active!
  15. Thanks for the reply, Spotty! So you think that the temperature of the CPU and GPU isn't the issue, but the power supply is? I'll probably upgrade it, but why would the power supply be the issue? The PC works fine for the first 10 minutes or so on high load, and then shuts down. I would've thought it keeps slowly heating up then crashing. I'm not really huge on computers, so I'm not quite sure how I plugged it in correctly, but it works just fine...
  16. Hello! I've upgraded my rig recently, now I'm experiencing overheating issues (atleast that's what i believe). Nothing has been overclocked. Windows 10, 64 bit SL-500A power supply (500 Watt output) AMD Ryzen 5 2600X NVIDIA 1060 3GB ASRock A320M-HDV Predator Z1 (2560 x 1440) When i play games on ultra settings, my frames are amazing, my GPU reaches 60-70 degrees celsius, CPU around 60. The PC shuts down after about 10 minutes of high load, the reason of shutdown being: Event ID 41, Source - Kernel Power. I've updated my graphics card and BIOS settings to the latest ones, I've cleaned and re-applied the thermal paste, cleaned the fans. I'm using two monitors, the second one being 1440 x 900 Here's a benchmark of my PC While updating the BIOS, I noticed that the motherboard can shut itself off automatically, to prevent damage. I haven't unchecked it yet, though I'm considering trying it.
