so I thought I had bricked my motherboard somehow as my system froze up and would get random post errors when trying to boot up. Tried flashing several different BIOS onto it to see if I had a corrupt bios via the bios flashback available on my board. Turns out after more and more research that there is/was an issue with EK gaskets on the Crosshair VI Hero board causing this. Took my block off and remounted everything... backplate, cooler, CPU... everything and it fixed my problems.
