  1. Nope. It shuts down as soon as you pick it up, even if done gently. (I am from the time you couldn't fart in a building next to an hdd without getting bad sectors, so I am careful). Haven't tried it with the hdd removed, but when I have the time, might give it a go.
  2. It is worth it. Very. Get at least 240gb - in a single partition - with just windows and your most used programs. You can combine with an hdd, but you would have to create an empty folder (named Games, or something recognazable by you) and mount the hdd to that folder in Administrative tools-》Computer Management--》Storage. The drawback is that you would have to set the paging file (if you useit) in C drive.
  3. A couple years ago, the wife bought - against my advice - an asus a540sc laptop, because "it is cute", and a few months ago it started shutting down when picked up, both on battery and pluged-in. A coworker has the same problem. (now the wife upgraded to an hp i7 that she bought for half the price of the i5 macbook she was eyeing...) Since I want to introduce my kid to pcs, I need it working properly, so, has anyone had this issue and sorted it out?
  4. Here goes: HP 15-ay010 - is the graphics card soldered or can we change it? Need something instead of the not really better than the Intel 520 radeon r5 m330...
  5. Thanks for the reply. Well, the casing is not "cut" to house an optical, it has a copper mesh/grid/whatever in the area where the drive would be, so the physical size of the drive is irrelevant. I just need to know if the connector is available (active) or not, and, if so, where can I find an adapter. Since I have already upgraded to an ssd, I just need extra storage, so any hdd will do. Edit: is there any reliable software that will show me available, even if unused ports?
  6. Hello. Can someone tell me if my HP 15-ay010np can support an aditional hdd or sdd pluged in to the unused optical drive connector? I am not sure if the slot is active or not, and the flat cable connector is diferent from the sata one.

    Hello

Hi everyone. New to the forum, but older than Commodore Amiga. Just registered because I saw some Linus videos, and thought, why not?
