  1. Real quick specs are: MOBO ASUS z390 P i5 9600k/ i79700k asus 2070 strix watercooled. So, I got the 9700k for christmas. I just installed it this morning shortly after opening and I thought that the install had went just fine. I didn't drop the CPU like linus does all the time or anything like that. I started up the computer for the first time and it posted just fine. I got a message on the screen stating that it had detected a new cpu and to enter the setup so I did and removed all my old Bios settings and returned everything to stock for the first setup. I planned to come back at a later time and attempt overclocking but for the initial startup I wanted to play some games and see if there was a major difference before overclocking. Anyway, I hit save and restart. I was then thrown Into a boot loop for some reason. nothing I could do to stop it over than a hard shutdown. I tried starting back up and it did it again. At that point I was frustrated so I shut it down and walked away for a little while. Upon returning roughly 30 mins later I was able to get the computer to start up and I went straight to the BIOS again to confirm that I had indeed returned everything to stock. I tried starting it up and had no such luck. I was able to get past the bios but when the ASUS logo would come up right before going to windows the whole thing would freeze and my fans would ramp up. It did this every time. So I did a quick consult to reddit and someone suggested to reset the CMOS. So I did. no change. still freezed. Getting quite frustrated and rather upset at this point I decided to just swap CPUs back. Started it up and it did the automatic repair or whatever but didn't freeze this time, It just said that the computer wasn't restarted properly or something to that tone and told me to restart so I did. I guess my question at this point is did I do something wrong? did I not do something that I was supposed to? Is my new CPU bad and I just need to exchange it? TL,DR swapped out CPUs just to have it boot loop and freeze, swapped back and it's fine now. new CPU bad and need to return it or what's up?
  2. No, I did it after the new cpu was installed. Still froze though after taking the battery out for five minutes and putting it back in.

  4. Thank you sir. currently on it and getting her set up. Have gone thru a few issues with a couple hiccups but nothing major. Current struggle is finding an all in on RBG controller because it seems like they're all doing whatever they want other than the strip that I have a controller for. also the rig is from IBUYPOWER and I have an asus Z390 board
  5. I had a free upgrade from a 650 to the 850 so I did it just in case for future expansion. I don’t remember the brand unfortunately. I was thinking about getting a better monitor but the deal I got for those two was better than buying just a single monitor. But I agree, I’d rather have a higher refresh rate.
  6. I built this on a whim and my laptop had just died plus I saved 800 usd. Anyway I built this on ibuypower and it should be here by Friday. I do plan on upgrading the fans before summer. I should’ve come here before pulling the trigger but to heck with it
