  1. 23 year old Norwegian guy with a somewhat twisted sense of humor looking for some people to play with. Living in central European time, so Europeans are the most obvious applicants, but I am at times a bit of a night owl, so If you live on the other side of the atlantic ocean, that might even work as well! My steam is Homelessguy (with a picture of Mario), and my battlelog is hansy2 Cheers
  2. Just started playing it, loving it so far! How experienced are you?
  3. What I forgot to say, is that the "router room" has wired pass-throughs to the other rooms in the house (like, a 20 m something cat cable that goes to living room, bedroom and office and has rj45 connectors at both ends, like a power socket). So that's why I thought of connecting a switch in each room I need more than one connection. I can get 8 port gigabit switches for around 20 dollars (relative to my currency), In my head, I kinda imagine it like adding a power strip to a wall socket to get more ports. So, will this work as well? Or will I get greatly reduced performance?
  4. Hi everyone! I'm moving to a new apartment soon, and I've started to think about how I'm gonna do the whole home network thing. Problem is, I know very little about networking, so that's why I've come to you with my questions. So, here goes: I have an apple airport router from back in 2011 (yep, former apple fanboy ) that works great, and that I'd like to keep using. Problem is, it only has 3 RJ45 ports at the back, and I prefer to have my things (pc, tv, stereo, printer, my future home nas etc) physically connected to reduce lag, interference etc.. But here comes the problem: With only 3 ports, I've run out, and need to add more, so I'm just wondering how. I read around a little and got the idea of connecting an extra switch to one of the ports, so as to add more ports, quick and easy, like in my masterpiece of a drawing. If this even works, do I need any special type of switches, any special features? Any special things to consider?
  5. To specify, the selftest was done with no wires connected, but then it started with the 24-pin connected and jumped. This seems very weird to me...
  6. Hi. After I recently did some maintainance on my watercooled rig, and put it all together again, something happend with my PSU. About 6 hours after I started up the pc, it suddenly just shut itself down, and wouldn't reboot. I've tried clicking the selftest button on the PSU, and that gives me the same click. However, if I hold the test button down, the light turns green, and the fan ramps up as it always has. Also tried jumping it with a paperclip between the green wire and a ground wire, and then it ran fine, just like I did when filling the loop. Any ideas what might be the issue?
  7. So I checked it out, and decided to go for 2xAsus Geforece STRIX GTX 980 as it was on offer in my country, got nice reviews, and the fact that I've had many positive experiences with ASUS before. Thank you everybody for the help, greatly appreciated!
  8. Exactly what I suspected. I can get quite nice frames from my 670s, but they are limited by vram. Not playing 1080p 60fps, but 1080p surround (5760x1080), and have 120hz tn panels. I play mostly battlefield, and the smoothness that comes with higher frames is quite helpful, as long as the increased peripheral vision. As I'd like to play on more than high and still get more frames, 2 970s with 4gb vram instead of 2 gigs. and 2 970s with 4 gigs should be able to give me decent frames with decent details on surround, or great frames with a single monitor (or a VR headset when those come out)
  9. Yes, 3930k of course! All these numbers get jumbled up in my head ^^ . I've had good experiences with nVidia previously, and it will be nice if I at some point get a g-sync monitor, so most likely going for 970s
  10. Hi. I'm considering upgrading from my 3 670s to 2 970s, mainly because one of my 670s has been kinda temperamental lately, and the 2 gigs of VRAM are limiting my 1080p surround setup quite a bit. Therefore I believe that two fresh 970s in sli with 4 gigs of Vram might be able to combat that issue for the coming years. Then comes the slightly more difficult part; Should I upgrade my Mobo and CPU (Asus R4E + i7-3990k) at the same time? I've previously had the CPU at around 4.6 ghz, and then it's quite quick. It's been a couple years since I've been paying attention to the new generations of gear, and their effect vis-a-vis frames and performance for gaming, so some input on this would be greatly appreciated! Finally I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the R4E to run PCIe 3.0. I tried the nvidia patch, but without any luck. Also checked bios, and it's set to PCIe 3 there as well. Looking forward to hearing your insights and opinions! P.S. Specs are as folows Asus Rampage IV Extreme i7-3990k 16 gb DDR3 2133 mhz 3x GTX 670 2GB in SLI The CPU and GPUs are watercooled, and stay under 60c at all times
  11. My budget is ca. 10 000 NOK, which will get me pretty much the same as you would with 1000-1200 USD.
  12. Hi! My old laptop is nearing the end of its life, and I'm in the market for a new one. I don't want a tiny ultra book-thingy, but neither would i like one of those 7 kg beasts, something in between. Requirements: SSD (shouldn't be less than 120gb at least) Should be able to run new games at quite ok settings, nothing super fancy.Looked at GTX 770m and 755m SLI, any thoughts on those? Needs OK battery life 15-17" screen. Anyone have something similar to this? If so, experiences, things to look for/avoid? Any help is greatly appreciated!
  13. Hey, you're preaching to the choir... I'm running a 3930k and 3-way SLI under water in a LD PCV8 But for his economic situation, the case isn't something he wants to spend alot of money on. That does however not mean that he is going for the cheapest thing that could possibly work, but for a good value case with good cooling features.
  14. Hi! I'm building a 1200€ (with the exchange rate and difference in prices, it's quite similiar to Canadian Dollars) PC for my friend, with SLI 760, and he doesn't want to spend alot on the case. Since I'm used to building with a higher budget than this, the sort of sub 50€ case market is completely alien to me, which is why i'm here today. Can anyone recommend a midi-tower case that fits this price range, with good thermal capabilities? It would also be nice if it didn't look completely hideous as well, but that's less imporatant ^^.
