I recently built my new computer and want to upgrade to a 144hz monitor. I currently have a 1080p 60hz Dell and was looking to get a 1440p as an upgrade. I would like it to be 27" but i am willing to go to 24" if it would improve output significantly. I will mainly be using it for gaming but I do also dabble in some graphic design(but would prioritize gaming performance over any color correctness).My budget is around $500 (I dont live in America so I dont know the exact amount when converted) . I know alot about computers but little to nothing about monitors and displays so any advice would be well appreciated. I also might dual monitor later on so I dont know if that affects the range of choice avaliable to me. Thanks

I am wondering what sort of performance I should be getting from my PC. For some reason I was expecting a lot more when I was making my parts list. I get solid frames in most games (around 200+ at 1080p and on Medium settings) but I feel as though something might be wrong after watching the performance of other computers fairly similar and seeing them be well into the 300+ range. My PC has : CPU : Ryzen 7 2700x (OC'ed 4Ghz) GPU : MSI 2080 GamingX Trio 8Gb Mother Board : ROG STRIX X470-F RAM : GSkill Tridentz RGB (2×8Gb) Cpu Cooler : Corsair H115i RGB Platinum

I recommend getting an RX 580 straight up. It doesn't really matter what brand. Sapphire is the best but Asus, Gigabyte and XFX are also excellent cards. RX 580 is the best possible card for the price range you are looking at. without going into super expensive cards like the 1070 and up. Don't think too much on it or you will be caught in a part loop and end up not buying something for so long that even these cards will become more outdated. Buy what you feel is best for your needs and what you like.

Just so I'm clear this is from my personal experience with Freesync and Gsync. I do not know the exact technical way that they operate but from monitoring the effects they have I deduce this is what occurs. If anyone knows more than me plzz explain I would love to know more ?

Freesync doesn't give any advantage what so ever. It limits preformance and lowers frames so as to run smoother. So as long as you have a good enough GPU and a good enough monitor you don't even need Freesync. By having a good enough monitor who cares about freesync. Take for example if you take a monitor with a 144hz refreshrate and freesync. I put a 1080ti in there. I will get 100-200 fps on most games. Okay now I put an Vega 64 in. I will get around 100-150 fps. then I put freesync on. This will now cap my fps at 60fps and will therefore give you less preformance. It give no preformance boost. The only way it will benifit will be in the case where your monitor does not have an adequate refreshrate and screen tearing occurs. The freesync will try its best to cap fps and stop tearing from occurring.

there Is no bottle neck with a 2700x. Ryzen Cpus are expremely powerful. The just preform a small margin slower in single core processes. You will not get any bottlenecking even with 5th Gen Ryzen cpus. Many people have a misconception that Ryzen is worse. It's not it just offers a diffrent type of power. Ryzen has more cores and threads meaning it can run multiple tasks at once with high preformance. Intel can run one task with much more power because it does not focus o the other tasks. This is because it has less cores and threads and each core is at a higher frequency. You can put a Titan X in with a 2700x and get 0 bottle necking.

if you buy a monitor with a high enough refresh rate having freesync or vsync for Nvidia doesn't matter. These just cap your gpu output to a certain amount of frames. That's why if you apply the free or v sync in game it will cap your fps at 60 or what ever it thinks is right

I'm I believe you experience screen tearing when your monitor has a refreshrate too low for your graphics card. The monitor cannot keep up with the frames that are being pushed out by the gpu and so you see tearing. If you are experience this you may need to buy a monitor with a 144hz refresh rate or higher.

imo It doesn't really matter above 1080p.Why risk lower frames for better graphics even if you have amazing hardware. I have a 2700x and a MSI 2080 Gaming X Trio and I still run games at 1080p and on medium settings. 4k and all those resolutions are just for bragging rights nowadays. The refreshrate of that monitor is good and I'm guessing you have a powerful enough gpu to push out the frames. I personally have a 1440p monitor but that's because I wanted a future proof screen and it has a 250hz refresh rate. I say get it if you are not going to game above that resolution but if you are planning to go higher like into the 1440p gaming then obviously don't buy it. A little advice for buying components... be confident in your decisions. If you spend to long thinking and assessing you won't enjoy the components you get and will always think you made a mistake.

because ur not rendering anything and I'm guessing you don't preform AI pragramming I won't recommend a Ryzen Cpu as they a are built for productivity with their amazing multi core power. If you cannot afford an i9 9900k I would say go for either the 9700k for an i7 8700k. All are very good processors. my one question for you is why you need such powerful parts? Unless you game at 4k Ultra and make super power intensive programs you would only really need an i7 and a 1080ti. Anyway it's your computer and I hope you shread framez with you amazing hardware

nah it doesn't really matter. it's just that Ryzen benifit from ram speed more than Intel cpus. my old pc was a 1700 and 2666mhz ram and It ran amazingly. I also don't really understand the technical side of the argument but it does give a small advantage. nothing to be super exited about tho

Intel cpus have higher single core preformance as they run at a higher frequency. The 2700x is the best multi core preforming cpu I have ever owned. Intel cpus will preform a little better in gaming but I promise with this high a fps you won't notice the diffrence. Plus the included cooler with the 2700x is quite good.
