  1. If I were to just list that I prioritize Smart Home automation and music, from those two things purely, what would you recommend?
  2. Factorial, with the Google Home, what smart hub do you use to control your smart home devices? With the Echo Plus the smart bridge/ hub is built in.
  3. Hey guys, Really having a dilemma on which to decide. Originally wanted to go for the Echo because my brother has one and thought it was really cool, however doing some research, I'm quite torn between the two. A little background as to why I want either of the devices. I want it for the music, smart home and personal assistant feature. Quick point, I am in no way considering the Amazon Echo Dot nor the Google Home Mini or Max. Here are the reasons why I'm siding with both and can't make definitive answer. Amazon Echo: - A lot easier to say Alexa and to me, sounds a bit, well for lack of a better word, cooler to say. - A lot more integrations for smart home devices, especially with the Echo Plus having a smart hub built it. However I would like to add, I don't quite care that it has more smart home devices integrations, as I would only need the main ones like Philips Hue, Thermostat and possibly integration with a smart fridge in the future. - Looks, simply to say the Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Plus looks better than the Google Home. - Easier to know when Alexa is listening with the blue ring activation. - Maybe this is just in my head but the Brand of Amazon? - Being a prime member, availability to Amazon Music and Prime Unlimited. - Echo model is cheaper than Google Home. Google Home - Uses Google search compared to Amazon's Bing. - Smarter digital/ personal assistant with more natural conversations and actions compared to the Echo. - Sound of the Google Home has more bass which I like. - By a hair, more music integration, what I mean is Spotify Premium is available on Echo and Home but Spotify Free is only available on the Home. (Correct me if I am wrong, I am getting this information from an article) and also can play YouTube as well. - Caught up in integrations to the Echo, however not quite up to par in regards of the breadth of smart home integration like the Echo. As said before, I don't quite care that it has more smart home devices integrations, as I would only need the main ones like Philips Hue, Thermostat and possibly integration with a smart fridge in the future. - Better multi-room audio. - Better rating of app, on the Appstore. I would like any and all owners of either or both of the devices to provide their experience and why I should go with either one. Thanks
  4. Yeah, I'll be streaming quite a bit throughout summer, I also have hobby's to edit videos and photography as well. I hear the i7's multi threads will do wonders for me for these circumstances. Once again thanks for the responses.
  5. Cheers for the response guys, appreciate it. I'm looking to upgrade to the i7 4790k soon with a msi gaming 5 mobo soon. And thanks for the NVENC help, I'll see how that works for me.
  6. Then wait for the 300 series or get the gtx 970.
  7. Looks like you already have 2x 290x, if you can refund those and wait the for the 300 series or SLI 970's. If you can't refund them then, I personally don't see the need for 3x 290x's unless you want it for brag rights or something but I think 2x 290x's pretty much covers your spectrum of gaming in terms of resolution.
  8. Hi, I recently just bought a Msi Nvidia GTX 970 4G and I would honestly have expected higher frame rates. Could it be my CPU? Here's a run down of my build. CPU - AMD FX 6300 GPU -Msi Nvidia GTX 970 Mobo - Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 RAM - 16GB HyperX Savage CL9 1866Mhz PSU - 500W 80+ HDD - 1TB WD Blue SSD - 120GB Kingston As for screens, I have an LG IPS 24inch monitor and a AOC TN monitor as well (dual monitor setup) I play games such as League of Legends, Aion, CS:GO. I also stream as well. On League of Legends with nothing on e.g. I'm not watching any streams I get max 170-200 FPS When watching a stream and playing league, I get around 100-150 FPS. When I stream I get around 80-90 FPS. On Aion I get a solid 60 FPS that fluctuates upwards by +5 and -3 down. When streaming, I get about 40-50 FPS on Aion. What is the problem here? Honestly I expected a lot more from this "beast" GTX 970.
  9. GTX 980 is just the new revolution to cards and has paved way nicely. The ZOTAC AMP and Omega series have done really well in innovating and finding it's niche and leading the way. I love the easy OC+ option they have included in the cards as it makes it easier and much smoother to overclock. I also love the fact that the 900 series are lower in energy consumption!
  10. My new system that I will be building will feature - CPU - Intel i7 4770k Haswell GPU - 4GB GTX 770 EVGA SSD - 120GB HDD - 2TB RAM - 16GB Asus VS24AHL monitor and the monitor I have now Razer Mechanical Blackwidow ultimate Razer deathadder 2013 Not quite sure which PSU will be best
  11. So I'm looking at the Crossover 27Q monitor on eBay and wondering how does it compare to the Asus VS24AHL monitor. Why are the korean monitors so cheap? Are they lacking anything? One noticable difference would be with the Crossover 27Q the contrast ratio is 1000:1 whereas the Asus VS24AHL has a contrast ratio of 80000,000:1 - which is better and why? Other than that the only major difference is the price. Looking at the specs I'm sure if the Asus in question was 27 inches and a QHD it would be almost double the price of the Crossover in question. Crossover 27Q - 27inch S-IPS QHD Asus VS24AHL 24 inch IPS 1920x1200 res Looking at the back of both monitors they have pretty similar stands, both are if I am correct able to screw the stands off and mount it to wall or desk mounts if needed - can someone confirm if I am correct on this? Overall which would you go for and why?
  12. Even if I'm way below budget, I would like if people still make suggestions based on the preferences I gave, so I can see what I'm working with. Would be much appreciated!
  13. I'm looking for a 27" QHD IPS or PLS monitor that is relatively cheaper. Key features that are preferable - Tilt, swivel and pivot. Able to mount - VESA Within 8kg. Budget is about £240 or $400 - Could stretch a bit further if needed.
  14. Building my new system, I want a good monitor to go with it. Can anyone direct me to monitors that have the fast response time but doesn't lack the color? Sure it may not have the in depth color a PVA based monitor would but I would like to enjoy my games with nice color and make the most out of my multimedia applications. So to speak something in between? 24-27 inch monitor pref Budget $235 - $350 LED Pivot, tilt and swivel - these are not important but if you come across it let me know because I'm going to be mounting them onto arms that are capable of the three functions. Able to mount onto a monitor mount Thank you P.S I will be going monitor arms for both of the monitors.
  15. I'm looking for a monitor that is roughly 24", good contrast between color and response time for both video editing etc and gaming. I want to go in depth and ask about monitor mounting. What is VESA? I came across monitors that say VESA available on them, does this mean I can unscrew the stand and screw it into the monitor mount arms? What are the other available monitor mounting options other than VESA. I'm looking to get the Silverstone Arm22SC dual monitor arms. It says on the arms they are LCD monitors? Would I be able to mount LED monitors instead of LCD's?
