  • Biography
I'm from Florida. I'm a simple man, very reserved, mostly quiet (which explains my display name), and I'm happily married.

I haven't grown out of playing video games. I have been in the Navy for over 13 years, as of typing this. Since I joined, I had to give up on things like PC building and PC gaming, because living this life doesn't make those things very easy to do. Console gaming is made easy, we have TVs on the ship, so thats how I've been playing for this long. I'll be out of the Navy before long, so I decided to pick back up on my old PC building hobby.

I have a lot of catching up to do, since there have been a lot of changes since I joined the Navy; however, it seems like all of the basics have remained the same, only with much more sophisticated hardware. I'm excited about this and it seems to be a great time to come back into it, while major companies are really having to try hard to give us great new tech, ie AMD causing Intel to do better than small incrimental upgrades. What a time to be alive!

Finally, as shown on my system section, I have the hardware planned out, but I won't include that information until I actually own that piece of hardware. The planned list is subject to change, if I haven't purchased it yet.

  1. Yeah, the drivers are at the latest. I'm going about this a harder way. I guess I'll have to see if I can get a stable OC the harder way. Ugh…thank you very much. I'm glad you stepped in and tried to help. Maybe someone else might wander on in here with something else in mind. ?
  2. This is at factory settings. I was getting better scores than this before. The strange thing is, it looks like I'm still able to change the settings, but I want to run OC scanner before running graphical benchmarks.
  3. Everything seems to be working okay for normal operation, at least at factory settings. Right now, I'm using Precision X1, because the OC scanner in Afterburner give me the message "Failed to start scanning! The problem with Precision X1 is if I try to do a scan at factory settings I'll eventually just get a black screen then I have to reboot. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Thank you for that information. I already have a ROG Crosshair VII Hero and a Ryzen 7 2700 X. The only things I've been stuck on is RAM, because of that issue; and, I've been trying to decide how I want to approach this discrete graphics card issue, with Nvidia gouging the crap out of its customers right now. I'm wondering if they're going to be forced to drop some prices after all of these issues they've been having lately.
  5. That's good to know. I haven't purchased my RAM yet. I just got back into it after over 13 years in the Navy; and, I'm just trying to quickly catch up on the latest information. I heard this had been an issue, but I'm glad it's fixed now.
  6. Sounds good! Thank you!
  7. Has AMD fixed the issue where RAM configurations are not configured correctly? Do we still need to manually tell it what is installed, or still buy AMD certified RAM to avoid the issue?
  8. It's an interesting thing for people to have a bias on. I don't have a loyalty to a certain company. As long as they turn out some good products and they don't charge us our first born, I'm fine. I want to buy a new RTX 2080 Ti, but I'm probably going to go with a Vega 64, for the time being. I would love to see more done with RTX, but I'm not about to be price gouged to be an early adopter.
  9. I don't know, but I really want it to be true! I would update my 2700 X to the 3850 X by the end of next year.
  10. Does anyone have any idea how I might be able to vertically mount the GPU, like in the picture, but with the motherboard in a normal chimney configuration, not like the upside-down one in the picture. I hope that makes sense. ?
  11. Thank you! I'm going to check these things out. You may have helped me save some ?
  12. Awesome! I think I'm going to look into that more. I think I'm kinda stuck with wanting an Asus board. I like their innovative nature. I am open to looking at others, but I'm just going by what I know.
  13. Thank you for that! Okay, so how about upgradability? Is the consumer Ryzen generations capable of upgrading to the next via BIOS upgrade, similar to the TR?
