  1. ....And please excuse my poor cable management, it's my first build Your build has inspired me to get that sorted, yours is nice and neat. Oh and thanks very much for all the testing you did, really helpful info ? And by the way I have two 120mm front fans
  2. Sorry for late post, just saw this now....so you reckon my setup is overkill with the 2 top fans? the one above the cooler does seem to be drawing out a good bit of warm air..... Min d you the build is a bit louder than I'd like so you have me tempted to take 'em out.
  3. Just an update for anyone else with the same issue; and it should be noted that my experience was very limited (this my first build. I had never even been in to BIOS settings before!) Anyway I quit being such a wimp and went in to the BIOS and set XMP in the BIOS to 3000 left everything else at auto and ping! my RAM runs at 3000 ? ....well technically 2998 but hey - it's a hell of a lot better than 2133. Very happy...not to mention relieved. Thanks for all your help ? Can't believe how easy this was, I shouldn't have got so spooked out by horror stories.
  4. updated the bios....no change, RAM still running at 2133. I'm in two minds here. Do I just be content with it running at base speed or do I try and push it? I'm really happy with the performance of the PC overall but I feel a tiny bit ripped off; I feel like with the rig I have that I should be able to get that 3000, or at the very least a bit closer to it...... that Corsair RAM wasn't cheap
  5. Thanks Porina but I'm a bit freaked out about a story one guy has where he destroyed his mobo after trying tweaking his RAM using XMP. He had a similar rig to mine.....honestly I'm afraid to do it
  6. Let me know how you get on please - that could be my next course of action. Good luck
  7. Ok the build is complete while everything is running smoothly, sure enough the RAM is running at only 2133. I must admit, i'd really like to get that running faster but I've heard some horror stories with people using XMP with Ryzen builds, and especially Gigabyte mobos which I have. What would be your suggested way to bump up the speed without using XMP?
  8. Thanks people for your fast replies! I'll have a look at some other mobos and their compatibility. I've already checked 4 mobos but if it continues to be absent from all the other lists, I'll just go for it and hope for the best. I won't be too disappointed if it ends up running at its listed SPD Speed 2133
  9. Hi I'm in the process of purchasing parts for a new Ryzen build. As I already had the RAM and a PSU leftover from other jobs, I started with those. Backwards probably yes but that's how it started! So my problem is that any MOBO I'm interested in doesn't have my RAM on its supported list. I have 4x8gb of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 (3000CMK16GX4M2D3000C16). I've attached a screenshot of a typical example of what I've been seeing repeatedly......in this example it's the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi. It seems to me that nearly every single variant of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3000 is supported except mine! Have I just got unlucky or do you think this RAM would be supported even if it's not in these lists? By the way I'll be hoping to push the RAM to as close to 3000mhz as possible. Apologies in advance for my limited knowledge, this is my first build and I'm doing it with the help of a guy who has far superior knowledge than my own so if you have any questions it may take a day or 2 to give you an answer!
