  1. Yeah, that was a typo, I mean to put the 4670k. Sorry for the confusion. I will edit the original post.
  2. I would prefer to get windows 7 because it is more compatible with older games that I play (e.g. I have heard some compatibility issues with windows 8 and Borderlands).
  3. Hi guys, I am planning to build myself a computer within the next 6 months to replace my laptop because it is awful (Toshiba Satellite c660-28r). I will be using the computer for everything but I want it to be primarily aimed at getting the best gaming performance (I would like to be able to play Crysis 3 at 1080p, 60fps, at high to ultra quality. I don't mind if I have to turn some settings down if the budget isn't enough). Also, I live in England if that helps with picking parts. As I have said in the title, my budget is £1500 (which is just over $2500) and want the best gaming performance possible from that budget. Since I have never had a PC, I need the whole set up which includes PC, monitor, keyboard, OS, speakers (I would rather have integrated speakers as my desk isn't all that big), basically the whole works. I'm very OCD when it comes to looks so I would like for most of the parts to stick to a red/black theme and have a case with a massive side window so people can see the hard work I have put into the build. Can people please suggest alternatives to me to get better performance My build plans so far: CPU: Intel i5 4670K (can be AMD or Intel, I don't care. If you did pick an AMD processor, I would probably pick the Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero (I would like a red/black motherboard if possible) Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series Red, 2x4GB, 1600mhz Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD (This will be my boot drive) Seagate Desktop SSHD, 2TB, 3.5" (This will be my main storage drive) Seagate Barracuda, 2TB, 3.5" (This drive will back up the SSHD. I have just experienced 2 of my HDD failing in quick succession without having a backup so I'm all about safety now) Video Card: Sapphire R9 280X Toxic (Shame about the colour ) Case: Inwin GRone Metallic Grey (As I said, I would like a large side window and a black/ red and black colour scheme) PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 750W ( I chose this because of the looks more than anything (dem red LED's). You can change this to something if you think it is not very good but please make it something black. I can live without the LED's). ODD: Pioneer BDR-208DBK (I would like to have an ODD with BD read/write but I could live without the write if I have to) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Monitor: Asus MX279H (I would like it to be 27", 60Hz, 1080p and stylish) Keyboard: Gamdias Hermes ( I would like a mechanical with red, brown or some kind of quietened blue switch. I would also like it to be full sized with some macro keys) With that list, it totals at £1498.77 from the cheapest sources. I would really not like to spend over £1500 if possible. Later, if I need a gaming headset, I would probably choose the Gamdias Hepheatus but if you have any alternative suggestions, I'm all ears (haha, geddit? Ears, headphones. lol). Thanks
  4. This is going to sound stupid but I'm really OCD about the colour scheme of the build. I chose the Asus Maximus VI Hero because it fits with the red and black colour scheme I want.
  5. Sorry, I'm a bit of a computer noob but I have decided to build a custom pc. Anyway, my Intel build version has the i5 4670k CPU which has integrated graphics with an Asus Maximus VI Hero motherboard which has on-board graphics. The budget of my build is £1500 (I have to buy the monitor and all the peripherals in case you were wondering why I hadn't chosen a more powerful CPU) but I can't be bothered to wait to save up all that money and buy everything at the end. I was wondering if the integrated graphics of the CPU will combine with the on-board graphics of the motherboard to make a more powerful graphical experience before I order a discrete graphics card (a Sapphire R9 280X Toxic).
