  1. Hey ya'll! I have been really enjoying my Northern Lights Desk Pad, but I was wondering what the recommended way to care for it is. After a while, I expect that oils from skin and sweat will work their way into it and need to be cleaned. Is the pad machine washable? Or is it recommended to hand wash? What kind of detergent is recommended? I haven't seen anyone talking about this. Thanks in advance!
  2. What does it show in About this Mac for the CPU? Does it show up as Ryzen, or as an Intel CPU?
  3. That would be helpful information, wouldn't it? I updated the OP but probably in the sub-$300 range.
  4. I'm in the market for a new monitor, and I'm weighing my options. I'm a computer science student on a budget, and I don't do a lot of gaming (I know, pretty heinous,) so I would mostly use it for productivity. I don't know if I should go for a normal 4K monitor or if I should look for something like a 21:9 ultrawide. What have you guys found is the best bang-for-the-buck and useful for productivity? ADDENDUM: I'm probably looking to spend around $300 US or less. ADDENDUM 2: I also currently have two 16:9 23" 1080p monitors that this would be replacing. Since I'm plugging into a laptop I think it's easier to just have one large one instead of two smaller ones.
  5. It's too overkill for a gaming rig. And I already have one of those. I'd make it into a Docker server that hosts game servers, CI server for some projects, and maybe a personal dropbox service.
  6. No. You can make Android apps with C#. And even if you didn't want to do that you don't have to use Eclipse. You could use Android Studio, which is based off IntelliJ IDEA.
  7. And here you even get TRIM Enabler to disable kext signing automatically for you. It warns you, you type your password, reboot once, and toggle the TRIM switch.
  8. I'm a dude; I don't carry a purse. And I'm not carrying my phone in my hand all day.
  9. I'd learn Java. You don't need to worry about memory management which makes it easier to learn at first. But don't let the conveniencce of Garbage Collection scare you away from C++!! Which you should most definately learn next. Or any other flavor of C for that matter.. Objective-C, C, C++, any would do. C++ is really only used for games and scientific programs.
  10. If all you want to do is game, then you should learn Java/C#. That's pretty much the way to get cross-platform painlessly.
  11. Ah alright, I gotcha. I got my iPhone 5 for $230 or something right before the 6 came out. (I'm broke and an iOS dev) I wish apple kinda did that so I could have gotten a 5s or something.
  12. Aren't they kinda copying Apple by having a >$200 margin? I mean Apple gets such a bad rap for that, why doesn't Samsung?
  13. Original story: http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/11/14/smartphone-slide-hits-samsung-execs-in-the-pocketbook/ The Mobile Chief of Samsung's mobile head has taken a HUGE pay cut because of their slowing sales. I guess phablets aren't cutting it for people. I understand why, I just don't get why they sell these or why anyone would buy one in the first place. He made something like $8.8 million Q1 last year, and $1.5 million this last quarter. This quarter he'll be taking home only $660,000. While it's a pretty big cut, I doubt he'll be feeling it too badly..
  14. Yes technically it's not again the law, to my knowledge. This one is totally legal. It's pretty much the good old police work, going out and gathering information. It's a lot better than collecting all your data ever from everywhere.
  15. Ok, I gotcha. I honestly rarely need to run a program in a VM, though.
