  1. You could clean the blower out the more dust they have the harder they work.... the louder they get. If it is clean you could try setting your own custom fan profile?
  2. I'll give this a try - I'm still waiting on the new switched to arrive - once they are installed I'll update you. Hopefully no issues
  3. This is the core setup - Catalyst 3750G Replacing due to the age (sorry I was looking at the wrong switch)
  4. Down time should be fine, I'd so a weekend install. If its a migrations how would I do that?
  5. Business - I have explained I'm not an expert but they have said that's fine, just take my time - find he solution and go with it This is the current layout from what document the guy left behind. SW56 is the current core switch that requires replacing. I believe is a 3 x 48 port stack
  6. Hi, I'd like to preface this - I am not a networking guy - I know a little, enough for day to day running but that's about it (currently) I'd like to replace my core switch - what is the best practice/process for this? Configure new switch then swap it our? Slow migrations to new switch? Another way? What are the pros/cons for each? Any thing additional to take in to account? Cheers
  7. For all those who'd like the answer - $log = do # Do this { # Store the result of TNC in this variable to be tested until(...) is False $tnc = Test-NetConnection -ComputerName [Address] -Port [port] | Select-Object @{ Name = 'TimeStamp' Expression = { [datetime]::Now.ToString('u') } }, RemoteAddress, RemotePort, TcpTestSuceeded # Return this variable so it's captured in $log Variable to export the log later $tnc Start-Sleep -Seconds 5 } until ($tnc.TcpTestSuceeded) # Until this property is $False $log | Export-Csv path/to/logfile.csv -NoTypeInformation
  8. Hi, I would like to run a powershell script where I can loop a command until it comes back false. tnc -ComputerName [Address] -port [port] Start-Sleep -s 5 The script is run every 5 seconds ComputerName : [Address] RemoteAddress : IP RemotePort : Port InterfaceAlias : WiFi SourceAddress : [Address] TcpTestSucceeded : True I need this to run every 5 seconds but only show on false then extract to a doc and continue running. I don't know if this is possible, but any help
  9. Hi, I have been tasked with configuring a server that previously had a raid 5 fail see below The specs of the server are HP 380 G6 intel e5603 6 gb ram 2 x 1tb raid 1 c:/ 1 x 1tb hs 1 x 1tb ssh 12 x tb raid 5 (I'm currently trying to repair) No backups...... They want me to suggest a better way to set there server up - My suggestions are (for storage) either Raid 10 – 4 x 4tb or 8x2GB Raid 6 – 4 x 4tb or 8x2GB Setting up smtp (I'm not sure if i need ilo for this or not) Setting up a stand along storage unit to back up every day with 20TB raid 6 (8 x 4tb) Anyone have any suggestions?
  10. Ive not recieved the drives yet - I only know 2 failed there seems to have been an issue where when the first drive failed no email was sent to "whoever should have been notified" the only reason it was noticed is when someone tried to access the data it was not accessable. I didn't configure the server/storage, this is the only client we have that has there own server or I would have recommended raid 6. I had a thought that could (if the drives still spin up and can be seen) I use a byte for byte replication on the drive(s) to a donner drive? Failing that (depending on cost) they would need to go to a professional company for recovery.
  11. I rebuild the array but the client didn't make backups - so i have 2 failed drives - I was wondering if there was software that would allow me to recover these 2 failed drives then us these 2 "recovered" drives to restore the array?
  12. Hi, So this is my story: HP Proliant G380 G7 HP SAS Expander Card For Smart Array P410 16 drives - 2 drives for os (raid 1) 14 drives - (raid 5) - 2 drives failed - no notifications setup? recovery possible? how? best tool?
