Hello, forum. I wasn't sure where this belonged, but I figured this was appropriate, since it's RGB related. So, in November, I got a ML240R. It's a great cooler, it's quiet and allows for a lot of OC, but as of late, the RGB hasn't been working properly. Only one fan will light up, and the CPU block only partially lights up green and will fade in and out and won't do anything else. I am using the software for this cooler to see if that would fix my issues and before, I was just using the RGB controller's buttons to change my settings. I hope I can get some help, I couldn't find anything else like this after searching the web. I have tried setting it to motherboard mode and that doesn't help. No matter how many times I unplug the SATA power it still does this, and I have tried unplugging the fan headers to see if that would fix my issue. That is all the troubleshooting I could think of doing.

It could have been, but it didn't have that "clip" thing most PWM cables have.

Yeah. I used a four pin cable that came with my cooler, and plugged the three pins into it, then plugged the four pin holes on it into an RGB header.

Yesterday, I tried plugging my ML240R's RGB cables into my mobo's (Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3) RGB header. I used the 3x 3 pin RGB -> 1x 3 pin RGB dongle that came with the cooler, and used a 4 pin cable to make it a 4 pin connection that could plug into my mobo. Once I plugged it in, smoke came from my PC (which smelled like a Christmas cracker being popped). I've plugged the cooler's RGB back into the controller that came with it, but the only lights that are powering on are half of the lights on the CPU block, and it's green, and I can't change the color. The integrated strip on my motherboard is far blue-er than it should be (black -> blue, red -> magenta, green -> cyan) and I have another RGB strip that is showing the right colors, which is also connected to my mobo, and I am using RGB fusion to change these colors. Any way to remedy these issues, or is my fuck up permanent? EDIT: everything's performing fine. It's just an aesthetic issue.

Yeah, but they’d get higher clock speeds and maybe better RAM speeds.

I have a 1600 and love it. Unlike i5s at the same price, there’s multi threading and it’s an unlocked CPU. If you’re just playing games though, it would make more sense to get an i5 8400 or an i3 8350K. (Especially is cooling isn’t great and/or wattage on your PSU.)

I really want to get my Ryzen 5 to 4GHz, and I was wondering which AIO cooler I should get. At the moment, when gaming, I’m at 60°C - 80°C and that’s with the stock cooler, OC’d to 3.8. I have a price range of <$150 CAD and I am more interested in a single fan cooler, but two fans will work, too.

For streaming go Ryzen. Overclocks on it will destroy the 8100’s boost clock. edit; Buy the 2600 and a 4xx series motherboard.

1060 Ti don’t exist, buddy. For your config, V-RAM is important so get the Rx 580.

I didn’t realize b450 existed when I was building so I got a 1600 instead of a 2600.
