  1. but for s**ts and kicks here is a £2,166.36 card probly worth about £600 in the real world https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING-DisplayPort-Overclocked-Graphics/dp/B06XXZBPHZ/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1543881315&sr=8-36&keywords=1080ti
  2. Want to see something funny ? you can buy a 2080 cheaper then a 1080ti in the UK at the moment https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-RTX-2080-GAMING-TRIO/dp/B07GQZ3DYL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543880995&sr=8-1&keywords=2080 https://www.amazon.co.uk/GIGABYTE-AORUS-1080-Xtreme-11Gb/dp/B06XWY767M/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1543881217&sr=8-12&keywords=1080ti
  3. i had no issues recently. 1080ti for my misses build, around £600 mark from amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/GIGABYTE-AORUS-1080-Xtreme-11Gb/dp/B06XWY767M/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1543880922&sr=8-12&keywords=1080ti okay i back track my first comment ... holy crap it went up nearly £200 in 2 month ..... ouch Okay so a 2080 is cheaper then a 1080ti at the moment in the UK https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-RTX-2080-GAMING-TRIO/dp/B07GQZ3DYL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543880995&sr=8-1&keywords=2080 id say go fro 2080 and just ignore the RTX until its actually worth using.
  4. glad to help, i had the same issue with a previous GPU, what was more strange was i had the same GPU in a different build and had no issues! so i swapped them around and same issue with the same make and model just obviously different card. to this day i have still not figured out what the issue was. but glad this helped! an hopefully it will put you down the right path towards the issue at hand. I personally give up once i found this fix as they was 60hz monitors and i was running them at 59hz ( stupid i know) but i see the pain if you have paid for 144hz monitor i guess you want your bang for your buck! its a far out question but you don't happen to have a free sync monitor and trying to run it off a nvida GPU (g-sync) . As some monitors are pre-set with free sync in their there settings on the actual monitor them self's not on the actual pc
  5. sounds stupid are you using a DP connection or a HDMI connection. i had this issue recently with my misses new 1080. for some reason it would not register the DP cable. hdmi was fine. it was only until i uninstalled the driver and reinstalled them it would recognised the hdmi fine but only on the first slot. all over slots where dead as such until the reinstall of the drivers needed.
  6. in honesty id go with fasauceome's advice. 1080's are dropping in price, and the performance is the same as a 2080 ( not the 2070 ) the RTX is not .. well that great, have a look on youtube of a few vids about of people testing the 2080ti's with RTX on and there frame rates are god awful! people say drop your settings but who's paying £700/£1500 for a GPU to drop your settings to medium! or lower. BF V goes from around 80-120 FPS to around 30FPS with RTX on. my personal option is pick up a 1080 and wait it out until they get the kinks out of RTX which in my option will just be an average feature in the future , just like 3D is a option on TV's now but no body cares or go with the 2080 (not the 2070 seriously not worth its buck ) just don't use RTX until they, as said work the kinks out.
  7. If you had vents in teh bottom of your case, most do now even have a filter on them. yes you should flip it! as it pumping warm air into your case (not massive amount) as for your temps then are actually better then 70% of peoples i know. most cards run around 60/75 degrees depending on air flow and GPU design. and or liquid cooled. ( pretty much what all have said ) but i don't recommend touching your GPU when running 1 the obvious it will burn you. 2. you can easily damage it 3 NEVER touch the fan when running, the card should cause a fail safe as such and reboot your computer but can cause worse stuff to happen and your power supply is over kill nothing wrong with that but thought id mention it haha.
  8. 0_0 i was screaming in my head when i read your first post! but Pstarlord saved the day happy gaming!
  9. Whats your power supply wattage? as its possible it not getting enough wattage with it being overclocked, also take into account on these big cards fans can consume a tad more power especially when overclocked. also seems a daft question what was the GPU temps at the time? if none of these, i'm assuming you are running windows 10. I have read a few places that it can be windows 10 apps that cause issues with some cards. these cause the cards to max out clock speeds randomly when the are idle. chrome is another one, there is an option to turn off background app when chrome is closed, could possibly be both windows and chrome ( personally had this issue with high CPU usage randomly) only other issue i can think off is the monitors are effecting the drivers, try setting your 144hz to 120hz see if there is any effect there. ( not sure how you would fix that issue, but it has help some issues similar to this, i have had in the past with older gpus.) other then these, you have done all the basic needs and musts :/ not sure what else it could be. hope these help.
  10. Yeah tell me about it, Lucky i didn't pay their £100ish price mark, got mine second hand for a cool £20. also cable management in this has been a bitch!
  11. So due to bad case design, they have made all the tempered glass flush on all sides, meaning all the air intakes are covered with tempered class. It even looks like they have just used a previous version of their case and just drilled holes where needed to support the glass. I should have noticed in the picture but hey was too excited about the new GPU and CPU i had bought. as you can see in the images, if they made the glass 2 inch smaller it would have actual air intake! rather then 3mm either side. But solution and issue: so replace the side walls of my case to acrylic, my only worry is due to the size of the sheet of acrylic needed, there might be an issue up with static build up. Any ideas as to how i can combat this ?
  12. Okay, so im looking to build my partner a new desktop, the case i am planning on getting Corsair Carbide Series Air 240 High Airflow micro-ATX PC Case - White I'm looking to laser cut the side panel with a design (not looking to cut thought the window just etch to keep decent airflow) and also add some colour. but here is my 2/3 questions; How decent are these cases as i have heard they make a great case for air flow, BUT i have also heard they are rather flimsy? i know i can buy spare windows for around £10 if i accidentally set the laser on kill mode What design should i use ? was thinking teenage mutant ninja turtles but not sure about green and white! ideas more then welcome! also any recommendations for the power supply ? as i know i am limited to space. The build i have so far in mind: Mother board: Gigabyte B450M DS3H AMD Ryzen micro-ATX AM4 Motherboard Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 5 2600X, AM4, ( as i have one spare) RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB PRO White, GPU: msi amd rx 580 armour 8g (also have spare) Storage: 2x WD 500GB SSD Cooling: NZXT Kraken M22 Hydro cooler for the CPU Be quite fans x3 (size related to case) PSU: Yet to decide RGB: as much as i can cram in the dam thing, as we all know RGB makes everything faster! Keyboard: Razer black widow - in pink ( yeah i know but girls huh) Mouse: Razer Lancehead- pink (starting to see a theme?) Headset: Razer Kraken pro v2 - pink ( oh by the way with cat ears *shoot me* ) Monitor: any recommendations in the £100/200 price range? Now keep in mind this build will be for games like sims and older generation games so i can't see there being an issue in performance and its not too harsh to upgrade, if she decided to move onto newer bigger games. so yeah: Design and any recommendations?
