  1. Hello all. I'm new to overclocking CPUs. I was wondering if anyone could help me overclock my ancient i7 930? I've seen some guides online but they havent been particularly helpful since I cant seem to find things such as "ioh", "ich", "cpu pll" and "vdimm". I've included my BIOS screen below related to overclocking. The guide I was trying to follow was Method #2 on https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-intel-cpus/538439-guide-overclocking-core-i7-920-930-4-0ghz.html Basically, I dont want to fry my CPU since I really dont want to buy a new one (despite it bottlenecking my 1070). Something hard and fast would be appreicated (i.e. an imperfect solution as long as it doesnt ruin my CPU). I'm getting sick of frame frops when I play multiplayer games (despite being able to maintain a solid 200fps on Overwatch training range. Everything goes downhill once I go online. By this I mean dropping from 144fps to anywhere between 80-120 fps). I just got a new 144Hz monitor and I didnt realise my frames drops since I used a 60Hz before. Stupid, I know. Is it ok if I just change my base clock so my CPU frequency is ~3.3-3.5GHz? Thank you. SPECS: i7 930 @ 2.8GHz Zotac 1070 12GB RAM Some old Gigabyte mobo (think its the X58A-UD3R) 850 PSU by Corsair UPDATE: I changed my base clock from 133 to 150 and I have what seems to be the desired result. Is it safe or do I need to adjust other "things"? C
  2. Is the screen going pink for about 5 minutes still relevant to it being a GPU problem? It hasn't happened since but the PC hasnt been used much since factory resetting. Is the VRAM under more strain when playing online?
  3. Specs for the PC in question: CPU: i3 8100 GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370P D3 16GB DDR4 RAM Windows 10 Pro Note: The Mobo and CPU are brand new (bought 2 weeks ago), and are within their return date Hello all. Recently my brothers PC has stumbled upon seemingly random faults. These include: Before factory resetting: - random pink screen that lasted ~5 minutes - flashing objects in game plus flickering when surfing the web (using Firefox had issues, but Edge worked perfectly) etc. This is relevant to before and after the factory reset. - game crashes in multiple games - general unstabilities i.e. some applications don't load After factory resetting and clean installing GPU drivers using DDU just in case (THE CURRENT STATE OF THE PC): - applications such as command prompt and file explorer (to name a few) going "blank" when opened (they open but only the perimeter of the window is visble. The main body is literally blank - no text, nothing). This seems to occur after launching a game and it then crashing - the PC freezes when trying to carry out simple tasks such as resetting/turning off the PC + general unstability within windows (taking exceptionally long to get into applications or flat out not working) - A few games have been tested: ----> Overwatch runs well aside from occasional flickering in the menu, but crashes when going into multiplayer. ---->Hollow Knight which is a single player game seems to work without issue. ---->Left for Dead 2 ran almost perfectly in single player (occasional flickers but the game was completely playable. However, as soon as multiplayer loaded it crashed. ---->Before factory resetting, Borderlands 2 worked well, however we never tried joining someone elses game. This leads me to think that perhaps it is not entirely a GPU error if some games DO run in singleplayer, but not online. HOWEVER (correct me if I'm wrong) a GPU error would not cause issues when surfing the web, launching applications or trying to restart the computer. This is what confuses me. Is it multiple unrelated issues or just one big issue? I really don't know what to do. I am somewhat intermediate level when it comes to PCs, building 5 gaming rigs to date and tending to all the shit that usually comes up with PCs. Apologies if this is in the wrong section/whatever its called. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
  4. I'm not sure, what are the options? and as cheap as possible without making stupid compromises
  5. Hey guys. I was wondering whats the bare minimum to stream a game like Overwatch with 144fps @1080p lowest settings. I have literally no idea how streaming works in the slightest, including what requirements you'd usually need. Thanks
  6. I dont understand why this happened in the first place, its extremely irritating. The new SSD should only have whats from the old SSD, why does it have additional system files AND what seems to be a clone from my E: drive... so many different suggestions...
  7. Would the 'Extend partition' do it? If so I am ok to wipe F:? From my understanding the 163GB used is a clone from my HDD
  8. Does it not come with a free trial? Is this the correct link https://www.symantec.com/products/ghost-solutions-suite? There seems to be quite a few results from the search. If not, could you recommend any free alternatives? Thank you.
  9. Hello guys, just made an account for this. Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area. I got this ancient gaming PC + monitor + headset for an absolute steal on eBay. The seller even threw in a modest 60GB SSD for free. I used this to house my Operating System and used a 1TB HDD for games etc. Unsurprisingly, that SSD became a problem and so recently I set out to fix this annoyance. Initially, I used Macrium Reflect to try and clone the OS and the boot files etc onto a new 240GB SSD but it failed on boot. I then used EaseUS Todo Backup which did it perfectly. HOWEVER, it made a partition ~60GB in size, (on the 240GB SSD; ~60GB as in the same size as the old SSD) which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a new SSD in the first place (room for updates etc). I tried to use EaseUS Partition Master but it gave the error 'System partition or Boot partition only can be set as destination'. I would have used Windows' own Disk Management tool but apparently that includes having to completely delete my (F:) drive and then expand my (C:) drive. I wasn't sure if that would cause disaster. Bottom line is I want to merge Local Disk (SSD) (F:) and Local Disk (SSD - OS Partition) (C:). Thank you in advance.
