  1. The input lag is not caused by the pedals. The key commands are being registered and the delay is Microsoft Windows pausing the input for a split second when the pedal is held instead of pressed and released, similar to how holding a letter key in a word processor will type the character once, pause, then type a long string of the character.
  2. I am looking at options to replace my three year old 9th generation i5 mid tower Ubuntu 22 server an NUC 10 BXNUC10i3FNHN1 i3-10110U so the computer generates less noise and takes up less space. Does anyone know how loud and if the fan noise has a high or annoying pitch this Intel NUC will be? It will be three feet away from me on a shelf at ear level in my office. I have already done extensive searches on YouTube and websites for information and have not been able to find any information. The drives will be silent since it will be running an NVME SSD for the boot drive and two SATA SSDs for the data drives. Link to the computer on Newegg https://www.newegg.com/intel-bxnuc10i3fnhn1-nuc-10/p/N82E16856102304?Item=N82E16856102304&quicklink=true
  3. The pedals also are not comfortable to use since there is not a foot rest or heal rest. You either have to hover or hold the weight of your foot and leg off the pedal so it does not accidentally activate, or increase the activation time by placing your foot on the floor then reaching for the pedals when they are needed.I may 3D print a custom foot rest that extends the pedals to make them more comfortable to use.
  4. I now have one of the Elgato Foot Pedals. There is a noticeable and less than a second lag, maybe 30 milliseconds, between pressing one of the pedals and the computer registering and activating the hotkey. This does cause issues with anything requiring quick response times, such as piloting a BattleMech in the MechWarrior games.
  5. I recently replaced these drives with SSDs after they became noticeably loud and began developing a whine, even when they were idle.
  6. Has anyone used the Elgato Foot Pedal as a controller for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries or MechWarrior Online? I am also looking at the Elgato Foot Pedals as lower cost alternatives and with more control customization options compared to flight pedals for flight simulators or for additional Stream Deck controls. For BattleTech and MechWarrior games, I can use the Logitech G920 racing wheel and pedals from my racing simulators as foot pedals for MechWarrior games, and I am instead considering getting two Elgato Foot Pedal for more control customization options. I would get one Elgato Foot Pedal controller for each foot to control legs and torso twist independently with one button on each control to control a leg and the other controlling the torso. The center buttons on the Elgato Foot Pedals would center torso or the legs. I would 3D print levers to make the buttons easier to reach with minimal movement of my feet. My mouse or Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D Joystick would fine tune my aim. I am also currently using an Elgato Stream Deck XL, a Razer Tartarus V2, and a Belkin SpeedPad Nostromo N52 for hotkeys and lance commands in the game. Another addition would be to use the mods for the game to use my VR headset as an always on free look so I can look inside and out the side windows of the cockpit.
  7. A TechQuickie video could explain the differences in ATX power supply standards and what to look for when buying a motherboard to ensure you have the correct and compatible power supply.Newegg.com lists ATX, ATX12V, and ATX12V/EPS12V power supplies.
  8. 10 GB isn’t yet in my home. I currently have 1 GB cat 5e and wireless AC installed in my house. This network speed is good for my current usage. I would like to eventually upgrade to 10 GB.
  9. I agree it is best to split out servers to separate machines. This machine isn’t going to be using a heavy load on the CPU so it doesn’t make sense to have multiple bare metal machines.
  10. That is a nice board. The mini SAS connectors are a nice feature too. the passmark score is reasonable for the low wattage, and rates better than a lot of the Intel NUCs under $300.
  11. Radium_Angel, quit trolling this thread. A NAS commonly can run additional servers and services, such as media servers or game servers and even NAS manufacturers advertise this feature. If you do not have anything constructive to post then don't post.
  12. Excellent recommendation for the case, this would be perfect for the DIY. If I go with a case such as thisI just need to find the low power CPUs and either a motherboard with a lot of SATA, a good SATA PCIe expansion card, or a cheap HBA card. https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=452
  13. This NAS would also be running Java servers and I have some file utilities that need either Windows or Ubuntu. so it's not overkill or pointless.
