  1. Hello, I am currently looking at buying a 650 watts PSU that is 80 Plus Gold. I have 3 good options (I live in South Africa so have limited options): EVGA 210-GQ-0650-V1 650W 80 Plus Gold Certified Semi-Modular Desktop Power Supply Antec HCG650 650W Gamer Power Supply Antec EAG750 80+ GOLD Modular Power Supply Which would be the best choice?
  2. I am planning a build using a Ryzen 5 2600x with a MSI B450 Tomahawk. I have read that the Ryzen 5 has 24 PCIe lanes and would like to know if my setup will work. I will be using a GTX 1080 GPU, a Samsung 250GB 970 Evo M.2 and a PCIe wireless adapter from T-Link (it states that it uses 1x PCIe lanes). Will my setup still work or will it throttle some of the components?
  3. I'm looking at buying 2x8GB RAM. It will be added to a system with a Ryzen 5 2600x CPU and B350 Tomahawk motherboard. I have two options: HyperX Fury at 3466MHz and Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB at 3000MHz. The Corsair RAM costs ~$10 more (I live outside the US). Since my motherboard will apparently throttle down any RAM speeds over 3000MHz. Which RAM would be a better option?
  4. I did not know that. Thanks a lot, this solved my problem!
  5. If I connect to the rear IO ports, won't the case be an issue as the USB cable needs to go through the case to the motherboard?
  6. I am looking into buying a UPS to protect my future PC build's components. If I buy a UPS, do I still need to buy a PSU? I am quite sure that a UPS acts like a PSU with the addition of a battery but I would like to be sure.
  7. Not internal drives, but external ones. I may also require more USB ports for things like a MIDI keyboard and so I will need more than 2. Is there any way I can access all those on the motherboard?
  8. I am planning on buying a B350 tomahawk motherboard which has a lot of USB ports. The cases I have been looking at with few exceptions have 2 USB ports. I know the motherboard connects these ports via the USB headers, but if I want the two USB ports to remain free, for hard-drives etc., how can I connect my mouse and keyboard to the ports on the motherboard? Are there any solutions that don't involve connecting directly to the motherboard?
  9. I am planning on using a 2TB HDD for games and other programs and a 250GB SSD to store Ubuntu and Windows 10. I am wondering how this setup would work. Since the HDD will be accessible from both operating systems and is not partitioned for either one like the SSD, will this cause problems with Windows files that are unreadable in Linux to appear when I am using Linux. If this is the case, it probably won't be an issue but if it is, is there a way to use the HDD so that each OS uses it independent of the other?
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. Also, I am planning on dual booting with Windows 10 and Ubuntu, do you know how I could configure the drives so that I have both OS on the SSD and then other files on the HDD?
  11. I am planning on building a PC. I have never done this before and am wondering if the parts that I am planning on buying are good and if they're all compatible. Parts: * Ryzen 5 2600x * Asus GTX 1060 Dual OC 6GB DDR5 * MSI B350 or B450 * HyperX FURY (2x8GB) 16GB DDR4 2666MHz * WD 4TB HDD * 550 Power supply
