  1. I've noticed those. Which is pretty interesting, the extreme heatsink or whatever you would prefer to call it in the first video is something i've seen quite few times while looking around for different ways of cooling the Pi.Though I suppose if one didn't want to use those options they could point a fan at the raspberry pi and let it cool that way, probably wouldn't be as effective but that's one way to go about it.
  2. I did a little bit of testing with my raspberry pi and Boinc using just the Boinc manager since I really don't know much about running it via the terminal, I tested I believe SETI@Home on it (World Community Grid wasn't supported so I obviously couldn't do OpenZika) and I had to fiddle with the preferences here and there because if I set it to use 100% the CPU very quickly reached near 85c which at that point once it reaches 85c or there about, it starts to thermal throttle. Anyone wanting to do some testing with the raspberry pi I'd suggest maybe trying to find a way to get some activate airflow/cooling on the CPU since the passive cooling only does so much.
  3. Great job to everyone who participated. This was actually pretty fun to do, though I can't say I'll miss my PC sounding like a wind tunnel haha ? I wouldn't mind doing this again next year.
  4. I realized I have an olderish Android phone, I should stick that on Zika also. I got my main PC which has an R5 1600 running Zika along with my HP notebook that I installed Ubuntu on also running Zika. The notebook takes longer of course but I don't mind. Usually I'll leave it running overnight when I'm asleep and my main PC is not powered on.
  5. yep turns out I just had to go to File>Select Computer>Select my desktop as the host name.
  6. You can use the Boinc manager on your Raspberry Pi however the World Community Grid project is not supported on Raspberry Pi. However there's other projects you could run on your Pi, see the list here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php and look for the ones that say they supported on ARM processors. You might need to adjust the computing preferences a bit for your Pi, I noticed that if you set it to run always or very close to 100%, it'll hit 85 degrees Celsius pretty quickly and at that point the CPU starts to throttle. At least that is what I noticed on mine.
  7. Can someone help me, I have Bonic manager downloaded and was fine all day yesterday but today it doesn't work. I am unable to add any type of project. Every time I attempt to it gives me a Bonic Manager Connection Error. Says the password I provided is incorrect. If someone would help me i'd be grateful. EDIT: I got it fixed!
