  1. Would the windows product key carry over? Or would I have to purchase another one?
  2. So I wouldn’t be able to connect both drives to my desktop pc and do the same thing? edit: by “the same thing” I mean using Acronis to transfer the contents, just connected to my desktop instead
  3. Hey guys, I have an older laptop (5-6 years old) that is currently equipped with a Western Digital Blue 5400rpm HDD, which I would like to upgrade to a recently purchased MX500 SSD. I’m not really sure how to tackle this properly. I can either A) plug both drives into my desktop machine and copy the windows partitions over, or B) I can maybe try to buy some sort of SATA-to-USB adapter I would prefer to do option A, however I’m not sure whether it would work properly, what software I would need, or whether my current windows product key would continue to work after the drive swap. any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. Solved the issue by downgrading to Davinci Resolve 15. Seems like something in the beta version of 16 was giving me the problems.
  5. Oh, one other thing. Every file that i tried with davinci resolve opened, and worked perfectly fine in VLC, as well as in Sony Vegas 13
  6. I have tried files that have been recorded straight to mp4. I have also tried all sorts of photo files and audio files. Only the audio works. Any file that is video or photo related will simply turn out as that weird glitchy mess seen above in the photos
  7. Honestly idk why. however I have also tried some recordings that were directly to mp4, and they wouldnt work either
  8. I'm using OBS and recording to mkv, then remuxing that mkv file to an mp4 file
  9. Hi guys, I'm having a few issues with Resolve 16 not loading all of my media correctly. For some reason all of the media, which in this case is CSGO gameplay in mp4 format, either appears black with audio, or is glitched (see image below) This is the same on my timeline. When I play the timeline, it appears blank, but I can hear all the audio. (see image below) All of these video files open perfectly fine by just double-clicking them, and they also work perfectly fine in Sony Vegas 13, however I would much prefer to use Davinci Resolve. PC SPECS: CPU: AMD Ryzen 2600X Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 Armor MK2 OC 8GB RAM: Team T-Force Dark 3200MHz 16GB (2x8GB) PSU: EVGA Supernova G3 500W Thanks for any Help
  10. Hi guys, I'm having a few issues with Resolve 16 not loading all of my media correctly after I close the software and reopen it. For some reason all of the media, which in this case is CSGO gameplay in mp4 format, either appears black with audio, or is glitched (see image below) This is the same on my timeline. When the media is played, it appears blank, but on the timeline its all glitched. (see image below) At this point, the only thing that I can think to do is restart the project, I don't know if its a setting causing this, and this is all running on a brand new computer, so I don't think it could be the computer's components. Thanks for any Help
  11. Thanks for the help @corrado33! That sorted the problems out with the file sharing. Would you happen to know any good remote desktop software that would run over a local network without requiring internet access?
  12. I'm attempting to use an old windows 7 Desktop as a rendering server for video editing, in order to free up my more powerful laptop. The desktop is running windows 7 on some older hardware and doesn't have all that much storage in it. I was -looking to connect both computers together via ethernet and read the files directly from my laptop while rendering through the windows built-in file sharing system. However, I'm having problems with having the computers recognize each other. I have tried the basics, like using the windows troubleshooting software, however this has given me nothing to work from. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am new to all of this.
  13. net-tools isnt installed, so it only tells me to install it, which I can't do because I have no internet
  14. I was going to mark this as solved, however, the computer still wont detect the built in ethernet port. the driver did successfully install, and I restarted the computer just to be sure that it worked. Any ideas?
  15. yes it did. i just have to install the DKMS package that it depends on. Thankyou for your help!
  16. no i didnt, im only new so i didnt realise i had to do that. it seems to have run now
  17. i tried using that command several times, however it keeps telling me that the file doesn't exist. However, i can see the file sitting on my desktop. Any idea what i'm doing wrong?
  18. how do I use apt-get if its a local file on the system?
  19. thanks for the tip, I'll try to install it once it downloads and see if it works
  20. So was this what I needed to download? I did a quick search and found it on what seems to be an official Ubuntu site.
  21. No, unfortunately i don't. I could probably pick one up online. I might see if I can buy one. Is it possible to download the package on windows and transfer it to the ubuntu pc with a USB?
  22. I need some help with running ubuntu. I just want to load a few programs onto it before it gets disconnected from the internet permanently, however the computer won't detect the built in ethernet port on the motherboard. I'm running a gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-945GCM-S2L-rev-10#ov) with 2Gb of DDR2 667MHz RAM. This is a fresh install of the newest version of ubuntu and I have no clue what is going on! Help!
