  1. I have a Audi A6 C5 Avant 2.5TDI V6 and last year I upgraded the old Audi 2din radio to an Sony XAV-AX5650 unit. I didn't rip my CD's yet but once I do, I won't be missing the old radio. This Sony XAV-AX5650 radio has full size HDMI connector but unfortunatly I cant get wireless Apple Car Play on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Android Auto on my S23 Ultra and Sony 1 V. However, if I use the wired option, it works without problem. I spend like 40usd worth in my local currency for the compatible adapter from Sony but it doesn't work. However, I don't mind using the USB C cable and the HDMI feature is perfect to either run my cfw Nintendo Wii, my HDMI modded PS2 with a lot of racing games or even my Xbox Series X which I bought with water damage and managed to repair it with parts from Aliexpress. I love it when I chill with my friends at a highway parking lot and play Fifa or other games on this stereo unit XD I paired my Sony Unit with Kenwood KFC-1666S speakers in the doors since the old Nokia ones were falling apart and those Kenwood ones just sound amazing.
  2. In other words, it's not rly possible to do to get one with "normal" usb ports? Well, it doesn't seem that I can avoid that. At least I still have a UGREEN USB C 7-1 Hub that I use with my steam deck and could be also compatible with TB3 port. I saw a XPS 13 9300 in my area that was posted for sale today. It has a i7-1065G7, 32gb RAM (dual Channel) and 128gb m.2 nvme SSD but I still have a Samsung m.2 pcie nvme 2tb OEM SSD that I got from my friend after I did a RAID config on his machine since he's doing art and records some audios and it seems to be still fine since it only was used for 54h/139gb data written/919,42gb read. They want 300usd for it and it seems to be bought from some rest old stock since it has valid Dell Extended Battery Service (whatever this means) and 3 months of Dell Premium Support Plus. The only downside is that the charger is broken (works if usb connector cable is bend at certain angle (probably can solder this) and it's running Windows 10 S but I have a Win11 key which probably works, since I obtained it from the BIOS of a broken Razer laptop that I used for parts.
  3. I want to upgrade from my 6 years old Lenovo ThinkPad to something newer from Dell but I don't have a lot of experience with this brand. I only know that the XPS line is something for me and that I need something that does have proper I/O. Not some BS Laptop that only has USB C ports and forces you to use stupid dongles. I already stopped this clown trip after downgrading from 2019 mbp (with AMD GPU) to a mid 2012 MBP, where I can even wipe MacOS completly and just run Linux (or Windows) Would prefer it to have at least 9 gen Intel or 5gen Ryzen CPU, m.2 NVME PCIE SSD slot (since SATA bottlenecks if I compile Android AOSP firmwares to any of my Samsung SATA SSD's), something up to 500$ and a XPS 13 or 15 variant of this product line and preferably user replacable RAM. Does anyone have any recommendations for me?
  4. I'm done with the upgrades. I installed 16gb ram, 2 SSD's and I managed to install Ventura. Thanks for helping me out with my problem. Everything works without any problems
  5. Ah, thank you very much. Yeah, I'll be using the internet recovery thing running first after installing the SSD(s) to get Catalina first and I already obtained Ventura install file from my temporary "training" MacBook Air which I got from my work. I don't think it matters if the source device of the Ventura download had a security chip or not since it seems to be a generic install file and I was able to get it installed on a USB in case I need to burn it first before bypassing the hardware requirements. I'll take a look on that patcher next week, since I need to transfer my work files to a USB A/USB C dual connector flash drive. I rented this piece of garbage for 3 weeks till I got something "better" and it's so annoying that I had to use so many adapters. Well, this statement comes from a person who used a MacBook G4 and late 2014 MBP where upgrade options and good I/O was still a thing but unfortunatly my good old T440p is not suitable for my new job since they only provide MS Office for Mac licenses and 4 tools which only were released for MacOS and iPadOS. Yeah, the alternative option of pirating that software for my Windows VM/buying keys from 3rd party could result in a 800-1000$ c&d kind of letter in my country if the source sold illegal keys or if I get caught by the ISP. I already got caught once after getting a Windows 7 key in 2014 but the first warning and a request to delete the software XD
  6. Hi, I got a MacBook Pro mid2012 for 20$ and I would like to install the latest MacOs on it and 2 years ago I heard about some method to do such thing but I can't find the link in my bookmarks. Yeah, I know that my current config isnt the best (i7, 4gb RAM and a HDD) but I'll install 2x 2tb SSD's and upgrade the RAM to 16gb, so I could be fine and I'll not using it for gaming or some hardcore programming.
  7. Alright, I was concerned about this ram config since it's quite generic tbh. I'll most likely go with the TrueNAS. It seems quite easy to use and as far as I seen, it has all the features that I need. When it comes to the Windows VM, I only need it for five software tools, which I can't run on any of my GNU/Linux powered devices. The only thing that runs Windows as the host OS, is actually my old MSI laptop with Win7, maxed out 2gb RAM, which is enough for burning CD's and ripping cassette tapes but not enough to run Windows 10 and tools that require at least 4gb of RAM
  8. Hi, my friend is giving me a PC with some 2gen AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, Dell AMD Radeon HD 7770 (2gb vram),8gb RAM and a big tower case and I was thinking about putting it in my work room and use it to replace my crappy WD NAS box. With all of this, I was thinking about using it as a NAS and maybe for running a Windows 10 (modded Lite iso) or Arch Linux VM on that system. I also have a Dell OEM AMD Radeon Pro WX5100 8gb laying around that I could use it for the VM and I have 4x 4tb NAS HDD's (unused) that I could use here. As far as I seen, I could throw out the DVD drive and get 5 free SATA slots for the NAS HDD's and my SanDisk 120gb SSD. What are my options here in terms of the OS, where I don't need to pay for licenses? Would it be worth it replacing the 2x4gb HP RAM modules for something from more reputable brands like Corsair, Crucial or G.Skill? Before anyone asks, my work room is connected to solar panels on top of my shed and this is why I don't care about power consumption
  9. I was right, this was probably a fake pdf file. If you have file extension enabled, the filename would be something like sponsor.exe.pdf but if you don't have file extensions enabled, the file would be displayed as sponsor.pdf Here's how this works YouTube link And to be honest, my old steam account was almost hacked that way but luckily Valve reacted and notified me about the sudden change of location and logged me off from all devices. I tried to run a Macro which was named antiAFKkick.ahk but with file extensions enabled, the file name turned out to be antiAFKkick.exe.ahk
  10. I actually bought a very similar laptop from that brand and with the same design like 3 years ago for 210usd worth in JPY when I was visiting a Japanese game developer conference. It came with same screen, a 4gen i3 CPU, pirated version of Windows 8, 8gb DDR3 1600 RAM, 120gb SATA SSD, external BD/DVD USB drive as a free gift, BT4.0/WLAN 802.11 b/g/n card, 95w charger, 49wh battery and it had a 480p camera in it with the same shitty magnetic holding feature. I have to tell you, this Laptop with the Windows 8 was just terrible. My wifi card just disappeared and only worked if I ran the "troubleshoot for problems", battery life was bad and it took ages to install anything. Then I installed Manjaro 18 on it and it was running to this day very well. I still use that laptop if I'm going somewhere and just want to browse the internet or write some documents.
  11. Ah, that really su*ks. I actually never used plex. I have some plugin that allows me to call for my music and video folder directly via VLC player. It's not the best solution but it's cross device compatible and since I use VLC on my phones, tablet and PC's, it's actually very handy since I don't need an additional app for this. There's one small issue. The built-in subtitles and multi-audio tracks in the videos don't always get detected by VLC. I have to go close and open VLC again in order to make it work again. However, it's a small issue and not really a deal breaker. That raid card is actually obsolete for businesses and this means you can get it for dirt cheap. I got mine for 42.60usd with free shipping. It even included original box, accessories and driver CD.
  12. It's very decent to be honest. I personally would choose a different path, especially since team Red offers better options when it comes for the price of your CPU/MB combo but the whole thing about personal NAS boxes is about the personal need and budget. For example I have a repurposed office PC that I bought for dirt cheap since it was a demo unit and I use it for data storage, local device backup and all my digitalized anime VHS/DVD/BD and movie collection. My setup: Case > ASROCK DeskMini (includes 120w PSU) CPU > Ryzen 5 5600G (I upgraded it from a Ryzen 3 2200G) RAM > 2x 8gb Corsair modules (CMSX32GX4M4X4000C19) m.2 > 250gb WD Red SN700 Adaptec ASR-71605 227440-R* (a very great hardware raid card with a huge amount of connectors) Storage (kinda jerry rigged into 3d printed enclosure since I used a hardware raid card here): 4x 10tb WD Red Plus (data storage/ raid 10) 4x Intenso Top Performance SSD 1tb** (raid 10 | anime/movie collection) * great card. I really recommend it, especially since it has great features like.... • Support for RAID levels: 0, 1, 1E, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 • HBA Mode and Simple Volume Mode for automatic deployment • Supports up to 256 SAS or SATA devices using SAS expanders • Supports remote firmware update • 16 drive ports ** Since I also archive everything to a remote rented server, I don't care about the reliability of those SSD's. I just choose them because they were like 51$ for each one and I installed one into my mom's laptop and even though the SSD was tortured with all the Ubuntu updates and copying data from her DSLR to Laptop and then to her phone, it still is running fine since I installed it ( Dec 2019). The SSD's don't run all the time, they're automatically powered off when they're unmounted (I use a script for that) and there's no activity on them.
  13. When it comes to cars and their features being locked behind paywall, it's kinda like DRM in Games. This stuff can be bypassed digitally and in the old fashion way. I didn't wan't to comment this on YT since I already have a bit of trouble after exposing a German politician and getting sued by him.. luckily they don't even had my real address or my real name since I didn't want to feed uncle Google with that. Anyway, on the BMW you can bypass the heated seats with a potentiometer that's used for the heated seats in a Golf 4 (1999) 1.4 and you can basically hot wire that into the fuse box. Don't mind the error messages that will appear after you disconnect the heating element from the connector. When it comes to other features, my friend has some 280Euro OBD2 Programmer from Aliexpress with the decryption software for the unique 4-8 digit password that's generated from the VIN or "key number" (if you buy the BMW from German dealership) and it's as simple as enabling the expert mode in the software and searching for the right keyword like "Sitz_VR_Heizelement" (seat heater front/right) or "Sitz_VL_Heizelement" (seat heater front/left). In my opinion, the manufacturers are stupid for locking things behind a paywall since cars became something like a ARM64/x86 computers on wheels. This just begs to be hacked or tempered with. It's not like that 1997 Renault Clio electric car which had it's ECU and BMS equipped with one time flash/read only storage modules which didn't allow you to get more than 21hp out of the electric engine or put higher capacity battery into the car. Before anyone asks, I won't provide any tutorials on how to modify things on your "It's plastic, It's fantastic" car and neither will I provide any purchase links. Just do a little bit of research and you'll eventually reach your destination. Also, try to search things in other languages like Polish, Russian or Español.
  14. Looks like the WX 3200 will be fine for my workflow. Specially since I can get it as brand new with warranty, I'll to my local hardware store and buy it. Thanks for all the answers
  15. Both of those WX 3200 and 4100 sound actually really good. I would have to check the prices. I already see a brand new WX 3200 in my area, which is sold for 160$ and the WX 4100 for 144$ used/refurbished
