  1. Quick update for those interested: @RONOTHAN## @Alex Atkin UK I did exactly what those fine gentlemen said - switched from 4x16GB 5600Mhz CL36 from QVL list that was certified for XMP to 2x32GB 6000Mhz CL30 certified for EXPO and enabled EXPO II on my Asus board and the system is rock solid now! Everything works even after extensive stress tests. Moreover my friends system also works perfectly fine now - he also needed to just turn on EXPO II on his Asus board and he has Corsair Vengeance 6000Mhz CL30 2x16GB kit (SKU: CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K). Gotta say - those 2 sticks of Doms Titanium look almost as sexy as 4 sticks of Doms Platinum Anyway, many thanks again for helping me solve my issue and convincing me to ditch 4 sticks!
  2. @Alex Atkin UK That explains a lot then. We've only tried EXPO I when I was at my friend's building his PC, he called me after I left telling me about the BSOD issue. I just instructed him how to turn it off and never had a chance since to go to him and fix it. @RONOTHAN## Yeah, while I'm running latest BIOS my friend sits at a BIOS that is 2 versions older than current one, so I'll check how things work now with EXPO II enabled. As for my situation - I'll receive my ordered RAM tomorrow and try it after I get home from work. Also I checked and I completely forgot that I got my current RAM directly from Corsair, meaning I can still return it since I have 60 days for that and not even half that passed. So all well that ends well I guess. Fingers crossed new RAM will work straight out the box, hopefully I won't have to ask for help again in this thread
  3. @RONOTHAN## @Alex Atkin UK Many thanks for the help guys. I just got myself 2x32GB 6000Mhz CL30 Expo certified kit of Corsair Dominator Titanium. I have a question though - some time ago I did a build for a friend. He's also on AMD and I picked Expo 6000 CL30 kit for him. However he also had blue screen issues. After 15-20 minutes in game it always crashed, stable otherwise. @Alex Atkin UK judging from what you said, since my friend is also on Asus board, we should have enabled EXPO II and it will be the same case with me, is that correct?
  4. Jesus Christ... Okay, so I'm not even gonna bother. Thank you so much for an extremely detailed explanation. Here's what's I'm gonna do though - I'll just forget how much I've spend on that 4 stick kit and get myself 2 sticks. @RONOTHAN## If I'm understanding what you said already correctly - any 6000Mhz CL30 EXPO kit of 2 sticks should work fine, right? So if I want to get Corsair Dominator Titanium (SKU: CMP64GX5M2B6000Z30) it should work, is that correct?
  5. Yup, however there are different offerings in different regions. Not really a matter of money. Also when I asked on a different forum, someone told me that XMP profiles would work and even when I asked Corsair support and Asus support they both told me it will work since it's on QVL. Anyway now I'm stuck with this, no regrets really, just trying to get some lemonade out of these lemons.
  6. @RONOTHAN## Appreciate your quick answer. I'm gonna come clean - I knew what I was getting into and still stuck with it. So manual overclocking it is. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea how to do so. Can you link me to some sort of a reliable guide for dum-dums so I can try to get it working? Edit: I no longer have the option to return that kit, unfortunately I've only had 14 day return window and it's already well past that. Frankly, I did a bit of research and had a little bit of hope it would work, but it is what it is.
  7. Hey guys, After 2 weeks of tinkering with my new build I'm officially out of ideas how to fix my issue and I need some help. Said issue - whenever I choose any of the default OC options in BIOS (DOCP I, DOCP II or DOCP Tweaked) I get a blue screen either before Windows login screen or directly after logging in. Sometimes it works for about 5 minutes and then it BSOD's. PC is stable only when Auto is selected which limits RAMs speed to 3600MHz. CPU: Ryzen 9 7950X3D MOBO: Asus Crosshair X670E Hero (latest BIOS 1904) RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x16GB (SKU: CMT64GX5M4B5600C36) That RAM is on the QVL list. Otherwise system is perfectly stable - no overheating, no other issues. MCR works perfectly, PBO as well and the system loads in about 20 seconds or less I think. I've already tried clearing CMOS more than a few times, flashed BIOS 3 times, did clean Windows reinstall more than 10 times. Had to do all that, because there were times when the PC was at the verge of bricking itself from all the BSOD's. Like I said I'm out of ideas - should I just overclock manually? Can someone tell me how to do that if so? Or are there other ways of fixing this? Bunch of side notes: 1. I tried changing just the memory frequency in BIOS to 5200 and 5600 leaving everything else on auto, seemed more stable, but I don't know if that's safe. I think it only crashed once with that or maybe not even at all. 2. One time I got stuck in a Blue Screen Death Loop - basically couldn't get into BIOS (not responsive) and PC crashed immidiately before Windows login screen. And it just kept doing that over and over until I turned it off and cleared CMOS. 3. Don't ask me what BSOD screen says in terms of an error info - it's a whole catalogue and it's different everytime. I've got at least ~10 different causes. 4. Corsair iCue tends to not see RAM quite frequently (RGBs not syncing and not showing, etc.) even when it's not OC'ed. It works fine for a few days and then either stops completely or sees 1 or 2 sticks. I haven't figured out if it's caused by RAM itself or just iCue acting up.
  8. @GuiltySpark_ So to reiterate (forgive my lack of knowledge in the audio space) - Line Out connection from MOBO to sub via a 3,5 mm to RCA cable and then from sub to monitors via a RCA to RCA connection. Is this correct?
  9. Hey guys, Quick question - I want to buy a sub for my setup, specifically PreSonus Eris Sub 8, but I want to connect it to my PC via a motherboard center/subwoofer channel - is it possible? What sort of cable do I need for that with that specific subwoofer? I currently have PreSonus Eris 3.5 monitors connected to my MOBO and a Sonos Ray with a S/PDIF. MOBO is an Asus Crosshair X670E Hero.
  10. Yea, that's a hard pass for me. Splatters are not my thing. I meant optical S/PDIF - I'm using a Sonos Ray for some content and PreSonus Eris 3.5 for other. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I like flexibility.
  11. I probably should have mentioned that I need my MOBO with S/PDIF for my audio setup and dual internal USB 3's for front USB on the case, because I frequently use them all. I kind of understand now why Asus boards are not recommended for 7000 Ryzen after watching GN's video about CPUs melting. Dunno if it's still a thing, but the concept is scary...
  12. I'm just surprised that I shouldn't go with Asus. It's honestly a bummer. I was hoping that choosing in a "vacuum" would be easier since I do not have such a thing as a better deal in my region, I'm basically gonna get ripped off either way...
  13. @Shimejii What board manufacturer would you recommend then? Like I said Gigabyte is a no-go for me, unless there is a valid reason for their boards. Is Aorus Master X670E good then? Or something like MSi Carbon? @Dedayog It's precisely because I've read some articles and stuff, that I now cannot make a decision You both already dettered me from getting top of the line CPU. Remaining question is if it's worth it to wait for 4080 Super or is 7900 XTX a better choice anyway. Fine wine and all that.
  14. Hey guys, Right at the start let me clarify two things: 1. I know that comparisons between all listed parts have been extensively documented and that there are multitude of threads on many many forums (even I made one here a year ago). I get that. However, I do not live in NA region and prices are significantly different for me. I live in Europe (Poland) and the price of 7900 XTX here is roughly 1280 USD. On a side note - 4090 goes for roughly 2500 USD. I hope that gives you, dear reader, perspective as to why I've felt like I need to make yet another thread. 2. This post is not a troll. Those prices are real and I actually want to buy this stuff, but I need help deciding, since prices between listed components are so close I need to choose by going strictly by absolute best performance and not value. Right, with that out the way, let's get to fun part - since 4080 Super is going to launch on 31st of January, I've wanted to ask what should I do. I was already settled on going team red all the way, but now I'm not so sure, because of the price drop on that new 4080. Like I already mentioned - 7900 XTX is 1280 USD here (Nitro+ to be specific) and the regular 4080 is 1500 USD (you read that right, almost as much as 4090 in NA). With the new price drop 4080 Super is expected to be around 1280 USD too and not for a reference design either, I think something like Zotac Extreme Airo should go for that much. Should I wait and see what the new 4080 can do, even if that could be like 5% more FPS? This is basically a vacuum scenario, where price doesn't matter, because it's the same. Only pure performance matters here. Same story with CPUs - both 14900K and 7950X3D are close to 710 USD here. So again - which one would be best in a vacuum where their price is the same? Rest of the components (basically settled, some of this stuff I already have): CPU Cooler: Corsair iCue LINK H170i (top exhaust) [got it] MOBO: Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero OR Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium 6000 Mhz CL30 OR Corsair Dominator Titanium 7000 Mhz CL34 PSU: Corsair RM1200x Shift [got it] Case: Corsair 7000D Airflow [got it] Cooling: 4x Corsair AF120 Elite (side intake) // 4x Corsair QX120 RGB (front intake) // 1x Corsair AF 120 Elite (rear exhaust) [got them all] Display: LG C2 48" Same as before - those MOBO & RAM pairings cost me the same. If you're curious why such components - I'm a flat out purist douche. I'm willing to pay extra for aesthetics and controlling my RGB from one app. I'm also a big Corsair fanboy and I'm never buying anything from Gigabyte ever again (their customer support proved to be trash on multiple occasions for me). I'm also switching from 3700X & 5700 XT which both IMHO aged like fine wine in 1440p, but struggle with 4K. This rig may be used for productivity later down the line, as of right now however it's mainly for gaming in 4K. Ray-tracing is optional to me to be honest. What I play - I actually have a huge backlog of games I wanted to replay or experience for the first time in 4K. Some of those games are - Borderlands 3, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Battlefield 2042, The Crew Motorfest, Forza Horizon 5, Forza Motorsport, Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Dying Light 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, AC Mirage & Valhalla & Odyssey & Origins, God of War and many many more. To sum up - prices are the same, only performance and technology matters, what do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
