  1. I don't want to drop it. I'm using it when connected through VPN. I'd like to lower down the timeout and that's it. I also don't want to remap it whenever I need it.
  2. Well...I know I can kill it. But launching it afterwards will give the same result, unless I'm willing to wait - there's a chance it won't happen again for some time. Also it's not the solution but rather a way to go around the problem.
  3. Hi There's this annoying thing in Windows, where it tries to connect to network share that is not available, blocking explorer for quite some time. I'm using Win11 but the same thing happens in Win10. I know why it happens - the share is disconnected (in my case it's because it's being online only through VPN) so Win tries to connect and stops only after some predefined timeout. And I think it's related to the Quick Access panel, where the most used things are listed, so it's not only because I have this set as a mapped disk. Do you happen to know how to lower down this timeout? Currently it can last for even a 1min or so and it would be more than enough to have it at 5s.
  4. There's a new and interesting keyboard from NuPhy: Air96. I can't seem to find enough reviews of it and the one I've seen mentions some things that should be looked at. Also it would be great to see the Shine-through nSA ABS Keycaps add-on.
  5. Oh, that's a good point. I wonder how much it can cause a problem...But still, my brother is good at soldering so I'm pretty sure he will be able to replace some port if there's going to be need for that. But overall this gives type C connector a little bit of edge here. I don't think there are any mice within the budget I'm looking at that have wireless charging, so no worries there.
  6. What do you mean by battery cover? The housing where there battery is stored? Or the thing that battery itself is wrapped with? I know that battery will wear out. That is something G305 is better at because there's actually normal battery there so it's easy to replace it. But even if it's some weird battery I'm not afraid of replacing with something else. I had Razer DeathAdder long time ago - there was a problem with button actually which forced me to replace it. Anyway I know it may be the problem but I'm more afraid of wheel because it something that I feel is harder to repair on my own and it's something that use a lot. What I'm looking for with my post is general guidance because I'm at that point where I have nothing to push me in either direction. Also for some experience. For example I've manage to find disturbing info that Logitech Pro or Pro X (don't remember now) have issue with double click. I've seen also that Pro X Superlight may have issue with wheel after longer period of time where it starts to sound differently, like scribbling sound. Thanks for your suggestions!
  7. Hi I have g603 currently but from the very beginning it had scroll issue where it was stopping to work. At first it was replaced but after a while the symptoms were there again. I tried to fight with it based on similar issues found on net but yesterday I finally said "that's it". I see that there are much more wireless gaming options there than when G603 came out. That's why I need advise. I can read specifications for myself but it's harder to get durability and stability info. At the moment I'm considering: Logitech G305 - was recommended to me by some user on reddit. I didn't yet have time to read and watch anything about it but I'm little bit afraid of anything from Logitech at the moment...especially when their soft isn't too stable. Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless - I have little concerns about having holes in the case...What about dust and things like that? Glorious Model O Wireless - the same as above. Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm 2 (solid sides) - it's probably impossible for me to buy it because I'm looking for something that would be available in Poland or at most in EU. Dell Alienware 610M - my wife suggested this, she doesn't like honeycomb designs. I had also Logitech Pro X Superlight on this list but as it turns out it's horribly expensive... At the moment I like Steelseries and Glorious for a little bit different reasons. I had Sensei long time ago and was happy with it so here is nostalgia. Glorious on the other hand have this PC and joke vibe because of their name and what it's based of. The list isn't closed so if there's anything that I could add to it please tell me. My expectations are really low in this case - all I want is as long battery life as possible from device that is cantered at gaming. That was the reason I choose G603. I don't care too much about weight. G603 with two AAs is quite heavy and it doesn't bother me. Oh and BTW - I will change feet to ceramic eventually whatever I'll choose. Edit: Added Dell Alienware 610M by my wife's suggestion.
  8. Thanks! The one he has is a little bit bulky for my taste but I see that this company has more doorbells that looks like they should have the same posibilities. I totally forgot about Zoneminder! I was playing with it many years ago. Thanks for reminding me about it!
  9. Yeah, that is an option but the thing is I don't want hardware controller and I want to be the one that choose where to save. Doorbells and such are something like standalone devices which is great for me because I can buy one or two and connect the way I choose. My main focus here is actually doorbell with camera with addition of being able to use app for two-way talk and things like that. Security systems are...welll...for security, not exactly to be smart. That's why I've mentioned Ubiquiti doorbell - it's smart doorbell with remote video saving. But it also needs hardware controller as far I understand. But if there's a device that can save to the proprietary device then maybe there's also one that can do that but to my device. Or app.
  10. I was watching Linus video the other day where he upgraded his house (again!) to the new version with the doorbell from Ubiquiti and I asked myself: "Why I didn't think about that before? There should surely be some devices that doesn't need remote storage (cloud) to store videos. Right?" So I opened up my search provider and tried to find one...with no luck. I've manage to get handful of doorbells that were using SD card to store videos but I'd rather have something that I could configure to save all the videos (and maybe events) to the server of my choosing. Maybe through Samba or maybe through SCP. Doesn't matter actually if only it would allow to make it happen. Maybe some of the things I've manage to find did allow for abominations like that but I'm pretty sure they won't shout about it because even with SD card they often have the subscription as a optional bonus. The other approach would be to have my own controller app that I could install on my machine (Linux) that could grab all the devices I would put in my home and make the magic. That could be even better... Have you encountered such devices?
  11. I was thinking about getting pfSesne into VM (I have server with J1900 running Archlinux) but I read that there's a little bit of performance drop, I'd have issue with adding enough NICs and most importantly - router in this setup is dependent on host stability and I didn't want to risk this dependency. BTW At the moment FreeBSD doesn't handle those NICs poorly but rather won't handle them at all :D. There's no official support (there are some unofficial patches) for any 2.5G and 5G NICs. I know that there's on-going work to add support for I225 chips but I don't even know when that actually happen...
  12. Yeah, you're right. That has more sense. Flow control is enabled on that switch so I assume that's what QNAP meant when they said it shouldn't give any issues. I finally found a way to connect my PC directly to the switch (now there's another one that sits between) so I have to wait for the payout from latest job and here we go with testing. Thanks for the summary I did mostly found them by myself and it's a shame that there's so little devices to choose from. Similar thing with 10G. NICs are so much cheaper and much easier to get on ebay then finding some switch to work with that. I've seen that H2+ - awesome device. I was almost angry that I didn't find it before I built pfSense router a month ago. The 'almost' part comes only from the fact that I have i3, which means more power and FreeBSD works better with Intel's NICs.
  13. I don't have experience with speeds exceeding 1G so it's hard for me to guess here...But if I had to, I think both ends should negotiate max possible speeds each can handle and go with lower one. So theoretically there shouldn't be any difference in speeds and thus performance. I talked a little bit with my IT department and they said that there shouldn't be any issues. Maybe you had some unusual issue there? I really hope that's only that I will probably go with that QNAP switch, if I finally find a way to connect my PC directly to it (cables layout issues) so I will report what will happen then. Although it can take me a little bit considering I'd have to also buy three expansion cards for router, server and my PC
  14. I've got response from QNAP support. They said that indeed there are possible delays with full buffer but at the same time he said that in home environment it's very unlikely to happen. As for the difference in communication speed between devices - it doesn't matter.
  15. From what I see in specs it's highly possible it uses pause frame by default when needed. I'm trying to find some contact form to QNAP to ask them directly. Thanks!
