So im thinking about turning an old Dell Optiplex into a home server and just abit stumped on which software to use for stuff. I plan to run ubuntu on it and then plex for media sharing, but then what do I need if I want cloud storage/nas/ minecraft server for friends? Is Ubuntu still the best choice or should I look into something else? and which software can I use for those purpose?

Budget (including currency): $1-2k CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details This is my current PC https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/wCWcvW , long story short its a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 2070, with a 1440p 144hz GSync monitor as my main monitor So I was planning to upgrade the GPU, but im not entirely sure if the Ryzen 5 3600 would bottleneck the 3070 at 1440p or not, and if it does maybe I will have to upgrade CPU/Mobo along with GPU as well, but in that case should I just go to the 3080 or is it way overkill for 1440p?

So I notice that some website like 9gag (or just chrome in general?) if allowed to be open on my screen with nothing over it then my computer screen will never turn off no matter how long I left it, and if I open like fire explorer and keep that on top instead then after 5 minutes the screen turn off normally. Any one have any idea why that happen and how can I stop that from happen (force the screen to turn off after 5 mins of inactivity?)

H500 only have 2 front USB port, 700... now that you said it... no idea why I didnt choose it... I think my options now are between that, Thermaltake View 31 and 32 and the Corsair 750D...

And I already got a 2070 2nd hand for cheap so no change on that either. The problem now is the case. I really love just about everything about the H440. But just about the only ppl who still have that case in stock are Vuugo and I haven't heard alot of good thing about them so I'm looking for other options... anyone has any suggestion for a case that's about $200 CAD or less? And with the look of things like the H440, Corsair 750D or Fractal Design Define R6 (also seem out of stock everywhere), with 4 or more front usb ports?

As the title said. I'd like to find a case that is like the H440 since its getting really hard to find a H440 these days (Is it discontinued?) And by "like H440" I mean the case is somewhere around 100 USD mark, have 4 (or more) usb slot on top of the case, sound dampening foam inside the case and 3.5" bracket with anti-vibration stand. A minimalistic look is a plus too.

I know I dont need SSD to store game, but I also already have 5TB of HDD lol, these 2 TB SSD is more of a "why not" thing Didnt think about the RX 5700, havent been really follow the GPU market for a while now. Good catch.

1 of the example in SidAlpha video on this topic is exactly that lol. A mother upload a video of her kid doing gymnastic, and got demonetized. When she complain to youtube they told her that even if the video itself isnt "bad" if the comment is then the video will get demonetized.

Now sure if this is the right place to put it... I have a problem I wonder if anyone else have? I just bought a GSync monitor not too long ago (Acer XB241H) and I havent use my Oculus Rift in a while, I just try to use it today and the signal keep jumping between disconnecting my oculus rift hdmi to disconnecting that Gsync monitor DP cable rapidly, which cause the Rift software to break down. Any idea why that happen and how to fix it?

So... my PC is like in my signature, and its still working quite well, except 1 of the HDD or fan seem to kicking up some noise recently, and its quite old too, so Im thinking about replacing the whole system (except the SSD and 1 of the HDD + GPU). But at the same time I also dont know if its a good idea to do so since it still serve me well, so I could just buy a GSync monitor instead? Is it worth using GSync? or should I get a new system?

Im looking for a new laptop for work ATM (programming), and I dont really need a dedicated GPU since I wont really be using it for gaming at all. So... I've been using my S7 Edge for a while now, it have a slight burn in in the status bar and its storage (32GB) just keep running out for whatever reason, so Im thinking about getting a new phone. Im looking for anything that have comparable battery, USB C, headphone jack, SD card, 64GB internal or higher and a big screen. I dont care abt finger print scanner or anything like that, camera isnt really a concern either, and thickness is not a problem as well, as long as its good enough. So far the only few that seem to fit the bill is the S8, S8+, Note 8 etc, but I just wondering if there's any from other brand I dont know about? I was thinking abt the Oukitel K10000 Max and Pro for a bit but then I found out that my network (Freedom Canada) dont support it so...

So I kinda moved to Canada recently from Asia, and Im starting to wonder which TV streaming service should I subscribe for now that I dont have IP locked/easier access to more service. Which streaming service is best for recent movie and tv show? I tried a month free on Netflix and it's all over the place (It have Supergirl series but not Flash and Arrow?) and movie around December last year or ealier (even something older like Now You See Me 2 is not available)? I think Hulu was either blocked in Canada or not available at all so I cant do that, what else is available?

Yeah, after looking around abit more it seem like the M40x get more recommend compare to the M50x, but either way it seem like they will both suck for gaming with small soundstage, and I dont want to get an open headphone since my fan and aircon is pretty noisy so... Cloud Core it is.

Well... Im not really an audiophile or whatever so I have no idea I just want something that work well out of the box these 3 are what I usually see/heard about the most, so they are all I know. Any other suggestion? When u talk about not a headphone u mean those 2 have the dual cable instead of only 1 right? I dont mind that too much since this one will probably only stay at my desktop, when I go out I'd bring either a bluetooth one or a normal inear one as they as easier to just tuck away.
