  1. yeah i went through the refund process with amazon and they gave me a full refund and let me keep the drive so i was wondering if its worth messing with the drive as i got it for free essentially
  2. so i bought a crucial mx500 1 tb m.2 ssd off of amazon warehouse and when i put it into my new build it started giving me issues. first it wouldn't show up in the bios or in the windows installar, so i reseated it into another m.2 slot, and then it showed up in windows and i went to download windows to it and the installar gave me an error. i haven't been able to get the drive to show up properly since. when it does show up, it showes up as something weird like a 1 gig drive. at first i thought it might have been my motherboard acting up, so i threw the drive into my personal pc and i couldn't get it to show up at all in windows and hd sentenal recognizes it as a unknown drive with like, 36 gigs on it. so i was wondering if anyone can tell me if it would be possible to fix it? and if so, anyone have any ideas how? any help is appreciated
  3. yeah ive heard that there are some pretty good deals to be had there, however, im more so looking for just a phone by itself as i don't have mine put on a carrier yet
  4. Ok so heres the deal, i was wondering if someone on here would be willing to share any insane value used phone model to watch for on like, ebay for example. a friend told me about the great deals to be had on the moto z2 play/force and i managed to get an insane deal on one of those ($37 shipped for a z2 force in good condition) but then i had to go and screw up the screen and with how expensive the replacements are for that phone, im now looking for a new one. So i was just wondering if there were any other crazy good deals to be had on other phones that i should look out for as a replacement. any advice would be appreciated. P.S. im a frugal person and i don't really want to spend a lot on a new phone, so the cheaper the better
  5. the generation is indicated by the first number of the model number i.e. 2200g is second gen. and yes, it is compatable with that board
  6. Update: I have decided to just buy a snow leopard instal disk from apple. thank you everyone for all of your help!
  7. how much would that be though? the nearest apple store is like an hour away and i want to make sure it would be worth it befow i make the trip.
  8. so, i was recently given an old 2009 imac, the previous owner took out the hard drive so i installed a new one. but i don't have a copy of os x to put on it. so i was wondering if it would be possible to instal windows 10 instead? i have a usb with the windows installation media but when i try to use it, it goes to a windows recovery screen with error code 0xc00000f and restarts a few seconds later. now i have a imac and can't use it. any suggestions?
  9. everyone else seems to have forgotten to mention that you will need some new ddr4 ram as well
  10. 1. No I do not, I would prefer if it was a modem/router combo 2. I was thinking somewhere under $100 3. Yes I need wifi 4. No, I own my current router. its an old c1000a model
  11. So, I have reached the the point of finally needing to upgrade my home router. my current one just isn't reliable anymore and keeps dropping the connection. so basically I would like some help finding a replacement router as I know little about router comatability. the replacement needs to have the following: It needs to be DSL as thats what I have right now, It needs to be compatible with centurylink, and it needs to have a phone port on the back for a landline. I would like to spend as little as posible as thats just the type of person I am. P.S. If it helps, I currently have a 7 mega bit connection to the isp any help is appreciated.
  12. well at the moment im just shorting the pins to try and start it, however i did try using a working Fpanel connecter and the same thing happened, nothing.
  13. So I recently bought a bundle deal on craigs list and one of the items was a asrock taichi x370. the guy said that as far as he knew it worked, so i broght it home and when i went to test it i ran into some problems. so basicly, i pluged everything in and when i turn on the power supply, the lights flash once, and then nothing. no indicators, no lights, nothing. it acts like it doesn't have power and won't post or even turn on. I know its not the power supply or the ram or the cpu as I have tested them in other systems and found them working. any help is appreciated
  14. sorry I just realized how it sounds, for some reason the first couple of sentences got cut of the top so now it sounds like I am trying to sell it on here. insert this at the start of the post: Hello Forum, I would like some help with pricing a build I have just finished with the intent to flip it for profit. All of the parts are used and have come from craigs list they are all tested and working. This build cost about $230 to build and I would like to make a little off of it I'm just not sure what to price it at. It does have some minor issues that would probably bring the price down a little. here is an ad that I wrote to put on craigs list:
  15. Specs are: Intel Xeon x5650 Processor (6 cores 12 threads) OCed to 4.1Ghz ROG Rampage III Gene x58 Motherboard Sappire RX 480 8gb Edition 8Gb RAM 120 Gig SSD 1Tb Hard Drive 700w Power Supply Raidmax Viper GX Case DVD Drive Activated Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) As I mentioned before, this computer has a few quirks, none of which would stop you from plugging it in and using it without doing anything extra but are there none the less. First of all, the front USB slots do not work, they aren't broken there's just nowhere to connect them into the motherboard but, there are 8 USB slots on the back which should be more than enough. Second, for some reason I could not get windows to download to the SSD so its running on the Hard drive instead, the SSD is installed if you want to store anything you would want fast access to, or if you can, find some way to migrate Windows to the SSD. Third, the RAM is upgradable as there are 4 open RAM slots on the motherboard but I cant seem to get RAM to work in any other configuration than they are in right now. I have heard that this is a common problem with x58 motherboards though so it might be an easy fix through a bios update. Fourth, the vent on the top back of the case is widened to allow for better ventilation. Its a little rough but hardly noticeable. An added feature is a hot swappable 2.5in drive slot on the front of the case. If you decide to use it remember that you need to restart your pc before windows will recognize the new drive. Other things worth noting: The processor is currently custom overclocked to 4.1 Ghz on all cores with temps staying under 90c under extreme load and that bumps its cinebench score from a 630 to a 950. If desired I can lower the overclock to lower the temps or turn it off entirely but remember that if I do, you would be loosing a lot of performance. The RAM is also overclocked to 1900 Mhz from 1600 Mhz. The RX 480 is pretty much a RX 580 just with slightly slower clocks so if you wanted, you could overclock it to pretty much make it a RX 580. This computer would absolutely crush almost any modern title, like fortnite, at 1080p max settings 60+FPS but would also make for a cool looking workstation as well. If needed I could throw in a monitor, mouse, and keyboard for extra, The monitor is a syncmaster px2370 24 in 60hz TN panel, I can include a WIFI adapter on request. So what do you guys think? what would you pay for it? Any help is appreciated.
  16. well that's why I made this thread, to see what what I should do with it. considering the generally high price and demand for x58 I don't know if it would be better to sell it as is or as a system
  17. https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-RAMPAGE-III-GENE-Motherboard-skt-1366-DDR3-Intel-X58-Express-/282801623264?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c1#viTabs_0 well shoot, I guess I didn't look hard enough. so how much do you think that it would be worth in its current condition? as that is a listing for a new condition board.
  18. hi, I am here to ask for some advice regarding my motherboard. this is more of a "help me decide what to do with this board" type of thread so any thought/opinions are welcome. so I have a motherboard that I got off of Craig's list a, few months ago and I was planning to do a build with it and sell it to make some extra money. but when I looked it up on eBay to check if I actually got a good deal I couldn't find any of them up for sale at any price. so now I am wondering if it would be worth more to just sell the motherboard by itself instead of doing a build with it. the motherboard is a rog rampage iii gene x58 board and the only thing wrong with it is one of the tabs on one of the ram slots is broken off.
  19. I should probably mention that for the fans, every one pack you buy over one is only another $1 or so added to shipping.
