The problem with this list is that a lot of components are right now overpriced, and you might need to wait a few months to get them

But aren’t the 3000 series cards pretty hard to get rn especially at base price? The 3600 has been a very good cpu for bang for your buck, and included a very decent stock cooler to go with that, in terms of case I was just going with popularity, heard good things but airflow could be an issue, in terms of everything else yeah, the problem might of been I changed my UK price list to us, might of made some differences. 🙂

    no problem! 🙂

So in terms of the current climate many prices of components have gone up quite significantly, so gpu prices especially and ryzen chips are a lot more expensive, intel was a good choice a few years ago but lacks the same competitive edge compared to ryzen, plus ryzen is a very good very streaming!

have a look buddy and see what you think!

Very exciting times building your first pc rig! I’ll get a list up for you, does your budget include monitor and peripherals (keyboard and mouse)?

Welcome to the world of PC’s!

Just noticed you said you already have a monitor! My apologies 😅

Hello! I would like to build a PC for school and gaming (gaming mostly, I just would use it for school for the second purpose) My budget is around $1000 but it would be nice if i could save some money if I can. This would be my first ever PC I would build so I have no idea what parts I should use... (like brands and models and stuff, I know what a PC needs, just not what to pick) I would not need a super powerful computer as I would be only playing mostly Apex, Minecraft, Siege, and a bit of Warzone, though future proofing for games would be cool. I have a 1080p monitor and I need only 60fps to be satisfied, though it is 144Hz, so I can go higher if my budget works. I would also like to be able to livestream and make youtube videos

    Thanks!

(Yes this is a repost, I accidentally posted the original one in general discussion, but I deleted it)

so my ea play for xbox game pass for PC will not work on PC?

No, Ea play purchased through steam cannot be used for Xbox and PC, however ea play purchased through Xbox and Microsoft I’m 99% sure will work on pc and Xbox due to windows new gaming Xbox stuff. Not very technical terms my apologies 😅

  7. 2 minutes ago, ComputerBuilder said:

i dont think steam gives acces to ea play, its a console thing only

You can get EA play through steam now, it’s £0.80 for your first month just now. Just not able to cross EA play purchased through Xbox and EA play purchased through steam.

    Hi!

Recently, I purchased Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC. Note that this includes EA play. I would like to be able to play some of the free games that I have, such as Battlefield V. Is there anyway to link my EA play/Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to my PC and or Steam? Sorry if this seems dumb, I'm normally pretty good with troubleshooting stuff like this, but this is just SO confusing 🙂

In terms of linking to pc, I think this is possible but only through the Xbox app I reckon. I could be wrong, although it’s unlikely that you can link to steam, again I could be wrong! Hope that helps 🙂

This is a build for my friend. I know that the 10400 is a good jump and it’s what’s in my system but he is very tight on budget so I tried to save cost wherever possible. And 500gb should be fine for him. And he can throw in a hard drive later on if not. But I was looking for a monitor for him and struggling. Could you link a 1080p 144hz monitor. My go to cheapo was the sceptre c24 but prices are like 70-80 higher than normal rn.

Factoring in his budget, I would say better cpu now, better monitor later. Makes more sense, prices are going to be so crazy right now so everything is uncertain, I’ll have a look tho mate but maybe 1080p at a lower refresh rate would be the best choice for budget if cuts are needed.

Okay I will probably do that but now my question to you is, what is a resonable price for those cards though? Because I am seeing 3070's for $500 and If I can buy it for around that price I would imagine that's a good deal imo. But yes I can understand why saving money and waiting for pricing to drop being a big deal.

Nearest the release price the better in the current low stock climate. 🙂

Budget (including currency): Around 500 USD

    Country: America

Here’s the part list I have

    With this gpu https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-Radeon-Armor-RX-580-4GB-GDDR5-Graphics-Card-RX-580-ARMOR-4G-OC/164691899008?hash=item265866f280:g:dIgAAOSwp4ZgIKrm

This build is for 1080p gaming at 144hz with some settings lowered.

If you are a first time builder, the only thing I would recommend is a modular power supply, just much more ease with your cables not all being attached. Other than that everything looks good and in budget, possibly consider if 500gb is enough for your storage, and factor in monitor and peripherals if needed. Maybe a cpu upgrade could be considered but not really necessary, the i5 10400f is a good shout over the i3. Cheers 🙂

It's a bit of an old system, and I have upgraded since (as you can tell by the date on the monitor), but it served me well and I honestly think it was a pretty great looking system.

This was the system I was using up until a month ago, when I sold it and have just been using a secondary so I can afford the 3080 when I can actually get it.

That looks really nice! Now definitely considering that coolant now, cheers !

I have a 3060 ti and a ryzen 7 3700x with 2400mhz memory. There are certain places on the map where I struggle for 50 fps at 1440p. Nothing changes the fps. I've tried changing to 1080p and low settings. I've tried dlss on every setting. Is this a cpu bottleneck?

I wouldn’t say so, more issues with the game. I don’t think they have been able to prefect the optimisation of the game yet. However I could be wrong.

I am currently rocking a GTX 1080 from NVIDIA and I was looking for some help in upgrading my GPU. I was looking at buying a 30 series card from NVIDIA and I mainly play at 2k resolution and I would prefer to max out the graphics settings for 2k resolution. I was wondering if anybody would direct me in the right direction to what my best bang for the buck would be at playing 2k maxed out settings. Should I go for the 3060ti / 3070 / or the 3080 which are all within my budget that Id like to spend if I could get my hands on one and not from a scalper. Any advice is appreciated. I mainly play Call of duty Cold War / Warzone and even some Apex Legends.

In terms of upgrading I would think that the 1080 would be still a really good card, but for your resolution I would say either 3060ti or the 3070 as they are cheaper and in terms of bang for your buck they would be the best bet. However the prices of these are forever changing so try and look out for a good deal.

    Cheers

Personally the only color I've put in my loop is Mayhems UV green, and I haven't used it in a while. I've been going for more blacked out builds (my upcoming build when I can finally get a 5900x and a 3080 is going to be full black tubes). I can include a photo of that build if you want to take a look at what it looks like

If possible yeah mate cheers. Yeah the stock of the 30 series and the new ryzen chips have been mad, good luck trying to get one soon!

Just saying, after having red coolant in there, the color of the coolant will always have some red in there, no matter how well you clean out the loop. I'd probably go back to red, or if you don't want to, at least go to a color that has red in it (orange, pink, purple).

Yeah good shout mate, trying to go for either pink or purple to match my twitch theme, any particular colour/brands you usually go for? Cheers

  17. I current have EKWB blood red coolant (I’m sorry it’s not distilled water 😞 ). Time for me to drain and refill my loop! So I’m just looking for suggestions for my next colour, through what anyone currently has in their system.

🙂 and to clarify that photo is bad, my photography skills are not as good as I’d hoped. Ps I also cleaned my side panel after this photo so don’t worry!

    Cheers!

But fortnite is around 30 gigs, so I'm confused

In terms of 16GB of RAM, it is more than enough to tear up any program or game in 2021 without breaking much of a sweat. 16GB of storage which is were you store your games and programs (SSD and HDD) is not even enough for mobile phones now a days. Look for getting more storage if that is what you are after. 🙂
