  1. Well if you read the thread you would see that i am looking to upgrade to a better PSU. so i wouldn't have the old corsair if i ended up going for a 1080 and 32gb. But i think i have settled on a 1070 and just 16gb of ram
  2. What makes me want to upgrade. Hi, 4-5 months ago my PSU died on me. then customer support sent me a new one and then just 2-3 weeks ago my pc smelled like it was burning and it shut down. It most likely fried my GPU. Because the pc runs fine whenever i take out the GPU(using on-board graphics for ligther use) but nothing happens when i try to power on with GPU in. But anyway i sent in the GPU so they can have a look at it. Hoping they will give me a new GPU(cross fingers for a free 1060? because they don't sell 780's anymore from that site). What i plan to upgrade. I am getting a better PSU no matter what. i have had way to much trouble in 5 months or just gotten really unlucky. But i have no idea who makes good PSU, how much Watt i need(depends on what GPU i end up with i guess) or how much i have to spend for a good one. All i know is that i prefer modular PSU because my Case is small. If i have to buy a new GPU i will probably end up going for a 1070. A 1080 is a bit overkill for me atm since i only got a 1080p monitor. But if i were to get a 1440p monitor in the comming year the 1080 would be more tempting. I have been meaning to upgrade to 16g ram for a while, but is there any point for me to get 32 or more? apart from gaming i just use adobe lightroom and photoshop, maybe some light video editing here and there. when it comes to CPU i think i have to wait. upgrading to skylake means new motherboard. and at that point i have basically bought a new pc. and i simply can't afford it. Current spec: MSI Z97M Gaming. 1150-socket i5-4690k EVGA GTX 780 3GB Corsair CX 600M, 80 Plus Bronze 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, HyperX Fury BitFenix Phenom M Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo 1TB HDD 256 SSD
  3. Hi, this is probably the 3rd time i try to write this. I recently got into editing videos and i am slowly getting into programming. But what i mainly want to use my laptop for is Adobe lightroom and photoshop aswell as some light gaming like wow and overwatch. For heavier games i still have my desktop that i plan to upgrade this summer. And as far as programming and videos i have no fucking clue how much power i really need on the go. I could just blindly get a laptop with quad core i7 processor, 1060 GPU, and 16 gb of ram and probably be good for years to come. But do i really need that much power for my over average but still moderate needs. not to mention that i would have to take some money from my desktop upgrade budget to go out and get a laptop with those specs. The cheapest laptop i could find with a Quad core cpu and dedicated GPU was the Lenovo IdeaPad 700 with these specs GTX950M, i7-6700HQ, 8gb of DDR4, 256gb SSD, and a IPS screen but i am not sure how good it is. So with the lenovo at 900 dollars and either a msi or asus with the 1060 priced at 1,600 dollar (these are norwegien prices might seem a bit high to you) So i guess the question end up being. What min specs do you think i will be fine going for? do i even need a dedicated GPU? It is very hard to justify spending so much on a 1060 in a laptop when i could build a freaking beast for half the price. oh and do any of you guys know if they are releasing anything new in the start of 2017 that might make prices drop from the older models. maybe i should wait until jan/feb before buying anything?
  4. so i shouldn't even bother to try turn it on again then.
  5. I have regrettably been procrastinating the occasional cleaning of my pc for a while now and yesterday my pc smelled like it was burning. I didn't realise it was my pc at first. so i went out of the room for 1min. got back in was to slow to realise it was the pc. right before i could cut the power i saw a spark in the moment i tryed to turn off the pc. not sure if i powered pc off or if it shut down by itself, i am guessing i didn't. What i have done so far to try figure out what the damage is. Take out GPU. it seems fine just alot of dust. Took at CPU and it seems fine. Cleaned it for pasta. smell seems to come from CPU fan but it is hard to tell if it's from the fan or the power supply. I have had to replace powersupply in the past because it failed on me so this one is fairly new. Haven't tried to turn on the pc after it happend. Kind of waiting to see what you guys think i should do. i also don't have any cpu cooling pasta have to get more. Hoping it is just the fan, but if it is the PSU again. i'm not sure if my warranty will cover this again. What do you guys think i should do?? Specs: Intel Core i5-4690K EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB PhysX CUDA MSI Z97M GAMING, Socket-1150 Corsair CX 600M, 600W PSU, 80pluss bronze 7 Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU 2x HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 8GB Black WD Desktop Blue 1TB Crucial MX100 SSD 256GB 2,5" 7mm BitFenix Phenom M Edit: wasn't doing much at the time. played some wow then watched twitch and some browsing.
  6. About 1 month ago my pc would take a very long time to post evertime i turned it on and this screen would show up. It only showed up whenever my pc would take a very long time to post. After a month with that problem my psu died and i had to get a new one. Now that i have a brand new psu i didn't think it would see that screen anymore. But it happened again. Should i worry that whatever caused my psu to die last time could happen again? Other than that my pc runs like normal. Pic should be below somewhere.
  7. talked to costumer support and they will send me a new power supply
  8. i might know a friend that can borrow me a power supply. also gonna ask the costumer support from the place i bought the parts from. see if they can help in any way
  9. the weeks before the fuse when out i had hard time turning on the pc it would take time before my keyboard mouse and monitor would light up when i turned the pc on. the fans would also take some time to start spinning. and when that happend i would always get a black screen with the f1 and f2 option as i said in thread. yesterday i was playing darksouls and the pc just shut of randomly and the plug went out. after that the power outlet ive been using for close to 8 months won't work. the fusebox plug just pops out.
