Well I am seeing the same problem with buffering a times and no it is not my ISP. I have an unshaped account and I get the buffering issues and low dl speeds even when I use my private VPN that goes through enterprise servers. I take there are still some issues with server load at times. Also having some issues with my Subscription not auto-renewing and not being able to resubscribe so at from a few hours ago can't even get on the platform.

lol Shame about not wanting to use Freenas as 'n have allot of experience with it and I think it will work extremely well for what you want to do. Would definately recommend using pfsense or something similar to have some proper QOS priorities so that remote access and backups don't kill your internet or even maybe getting a VPN running to make access easier and more secure. Glad to hear you're going for RAID 6 cause even if you can rerip/download not losing your data in the first place is much easier.
