  1. Talked me out of the spontaneous buy and I'll wait to see what aib prices look like.
  2. Thanks. I know freesync won't work with the 1080ti as if it did would be a quick sale. Hard decision! My 290 is having issues with thermals and screen artifacts. I have redone the paste and that bought me a little bit of time so waiting works but since canada prices are crazy I have little hope we get any cards close to msrp.
  3. Hello I have a aoc 27" 1440p 144hz freesync monitor and in the market to upgrade my r9 290. I was waiting for vega but the prices in canada are pretty crazy. A vega 64 is in the 1080ti price range and the 56 is in the 1080 range. As I have the freesync monitor would I be better to wait it out and pickup a vega card or just grab 1080ti and hope it works out with the monitor? Thanks
  4. Hello I have a 3770k at 4.5ghz with a r9 290 and I will be upgrading to a vega card. I haven't entirely decided which one at this point but I am leaning towards the 64. I have a 144hz 1440p freesync monitor and I mostly game with a little bit of content creation. Would it be worthwhile upgrading the cpu/mb/ram to a ryzen 1700 or 8700k or should I hold on till zen+/cannonlake? Thanks!
  5. That is a pretty decent idea actually. G10 bracket, aio cooler and some vrm heatsinks is all i would need? Hopefully can get the 2nd radiator in the case was a pain getting the h90 in. Does the G10 also support the Gigabyte pcb for the windforce series (is it reference)? I guess I could just google it.
  6. Hello I have run into an issue or rather maybe just my ocd but with the windforce r9 290 OC with the case closed I get decent temperatures while gaming but once I bring up cgminer I go up to 82-83 degrees which is reaching the top end. If I remove the side panel I can get down to 76 so I think the blowing air from the side is just an issue for this case (I've tried all type of fan setups, tried different fans high sp, low sp, high cfm, etc). Any recommendations for a case for good air flow? I have a h90 for the cpu and no intentions of watercooling the gpu. I have been looking at the air540, silverstone ft04 and arc midi R2 but really can't decide.. Silence is not a huge concern , space doesn't matter but I do go to lan parties a few times a year and my budget I'd like to keep down but I am open to more expensive options. Thanks

  8. I had an extra r2 fan laying around so I put it in as a bottom intake and rerouted the mess of cables in the hd cage. Temps stayed the same and I also connected the rear exhaust, 2 front intakes to the fan controller to spin them at 1000rpm instead of the 750ish they were at with the motherboard which also didn't make any difference as well.
  9. Sorry the "attach this file" button eluded me. Cable management isn't perfect but it isn't a mess and I do have the drive bays removed. I've had the r4 for awhile and at the time was more concerned about sound than I was heat. Since I started messing around with cryptocurrency's I have found myself more concerned with temps.
  10. Hello Long time reader first time poster. I am looking for some tips on cooling to see if I can get this better or I am just dumb. A new case (can use for another system) , adding a fan or replacing fans with something different are options (sound not a huge concern). My current setup is 2 fractal r2 intakes, 1 fractal r2 top back exhaust, h90 at rear exhaust with push (stock fan) pull (fractal r2). I am not using the fan controller but have all the fans on the motherboard. When mining in a closed case I get 80-81 (84% fan speed) degrees on the gpu with around 35-40 on cpu and if i take off the side panel it goes down to around 76 degrees (73% fan speed) and 25-35 on the cpu but I have a small child who likes to touch things so not idea. Running prime well mining CPU gets up 75 degrees and gpu stays around 80-82 but there is a lot of heat being exhausted out the back (not much at the top just been feeling with hand). Attached is a picture of the setup. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
