  1. First of all, this is all based on my short professional life experience I think to answer your question : YES, but mostly for logic purposes. There are some programming principles that are derived of maths, and if you don't understand them, it can be a pain to be able to understand them in programming. My best example rn would be recursion (a function that calls itself). Math also helps to have a good abstraction, some notions in IT are insanely abstract. Being bad at Math isn't a fatality, as long as you are good with some specific notions, like Matrixes, Boolean algebra, sequences (may be an incorrect translation of the French "Suites") Math is not really important if you do frontend (maybe even mid end). But if you want to work in encryption or other specialized fields it may be required
  2. If I end up doing it (which is a massive if, I'll send pictures, tho I would have to go buy a PCI-E Riser and some cable to jump the ATX Power supply)
  3. Hello, So first I'll explain a bit of context : Right now, the Motherboard on my Dekstop died, which is really annoying, But I have a server that I'd like to use to game, issue being, the enclosure is a 1U (which definitly doesn't fit my Saphire Pulse RX 580 8G which is a double slot) So my goal is to buy a PCI-e X16 Riser to set up the GPU outside of the server, and power it up using the PSU from my dekstop with a dead Motherboard and do this until I have a new mobo (probably next month) I guess it is a Bad Idea, but I'd like to know what risk would I take for my GPU / PSU ?
  4. Hey guys ! I'm seeking help because I'm having an issue with my MSI Geforce GTX 4G OC I'm having a crash when I'm playing games that uses the OpenGL rendering API (such as Minecraft, Wakfu and Wolfenstein Enemy Territory) the strange thing is that it only crashes in game : I've ran multiple stress test : Furmark, TessMark x64, GiMark and no crash. I have a cheap 420W power supply, a Asus Prime B350 Plus, 16 GB of Ram (2x4 GB + 1x8GB), and I've tried on both latest driver ( DCH 430.86) (tried reinstalling it by first running DDU, rebooting, then running the driver installer) and older, no fix has been found, so if any of you guys have an idea I'm listening Thanks in advance ! Edit : Weird thing is that it seems like it "randomly occurs" and when it does I can relaunch the game as much as I want it always crash and I have to wait for 40-50min before it works again (I checked temps they are at most at 60°C)
  5. Hey there Wyndrunner, I would suggest a 2080 super, as it's a newer card, as it's the latest refresh that they've done), however, if you don't want to spend as much, just go for a normal RTX 2080, the performance difference isn't that big, and you'll notice it if you do 4K Gaming on ULTRA with ray tracing on If you are willing to spend the money, go for the 2080 super If you want to save a little, go for the 2080 and save a little bit of money that you can spend on something else
  6. I would suggest a Ryzen 5 3600 as it's pretty good, but as you're pretty short moneywise, I'd say go for an X470 Mobo (or a x570 if you can afford to spend more) I won't recommand a specific board, as I don't think it's really important here
  7. GeneXiS_X I'd rather not, I would if I was trying to buy extremly powerfull machines, but I know that "Cheap" laptop have a lifespan that isn't this big (Like my actual laptop lived 3 years)
  8. Thanks Guys ! Even though I forgot to mention i'm in france and prices are far higher (but I'll keep those in mind if I manage to get a bit more money to buy a laptop)
  9. Hello, I'm looking for a Cheap laptop (but with some requirements) and looking for any help I can get to find it Cost less than 350€ (Yep I know it's not much, but that's called being a broke student) Has HDD or SSD (No eMMC storage because I'd rather shoot my self than getting one of these) Have at least a Intel Pentium or AMD A8 (Please Intel fanboy, don't say anything, I have a laptop that has an AMD A6 CPU and it's not that bad) (I can go for Celeron, but I'd rather avoid that) No second hand (I plan on keeping it more than a year ...) Is of reasonable size (at least 13" of size)
  10. I can't give you example of mobo that are good in a relatively cheap price point but I strongly recommand NOT TO BUY the Asrock B350m-Pro4 it is cheap, but it is a real pain, hidden behind it's nice black and white scheme is a terrible motherboard that is a shame, it didn't worked well with 1st gen Ryzen CPU, and does not work with 2nd gen CPU, unless you get lucky, you may suffer from repetitive freeze after 10-90 minutes having the computer on, I thought at first it was a problem of thermal, googled the mobo up, and found out many people had this very same issue.
  11. The real question is do you go somewhere with no internet, otherwise you could make a Dekstop Gaming PC and stream it from your laptop, if you do need something you can have without internet then try the other. If it is for school, I advise the first option, because having a 3kg or 4kg laptop in the bag all day isn't fun at all (trust me, I know what i'm talking about), if you still stay on the idea of having a pc MSI normaly is a good brand to look at. Bear in mind that : The laptop will be Much heavier than most It will have a poor batery life (and lifespan also) it will be REALLY Bulky You won't be able to change much inside ( Mostly Disks and PERHAPS R.A.M Also you could use Newegg and put a max price of 1200$ and see what is available (Oh and it will mostly be 1060 3g whose performance equals a 1050 ti)
