  1. You were correct. It was not under a heat spreader and was overheating. I put the 970 Evo SSD into my laptop and felt it with my finger as Windows booted up. The controller on it got very hot to the touch and made faint electrical/popping noises. The flash chips didn't get warm though. I It originally purchased it new from Microcenter in Aug 2019. Shame that it's already overheating after just two years though..... a heat spreader would probably help but my CPU cooler is a tad too big and would get in the way. Maybe I'll buy a Western Digital drive.
  2. This started happening randomly a couple of months ago. If I boot my PC from a cold boot it'll boot windows and I can sign in, but after a couple of minutes I'll get a blue screen and it goes into the BIOS, which then it can't see any drives. The only way I've found to "fix" this is to completely switch off the power supply and wait a few minutes, and then maybe it'll boot into windows. Every once in awhile everything will work fine and I can even play intensive 3D games without issue, this only happens when I login into Windows. I've already reinstalled Windows through the "fresh start" feature. At this point I'm not sure if it's windows or something with my hardware. Perhaps completely nuke the drive and reinstall through USB? While Windows was working I checked my SSD through CrystalDiskInfo and it reported it as perfectly healthy so I don't think the issue is related to my SSD. 3. PUBG goes up to 90fps and COD Mobile will do up to 120.
  4. If you have an existing PS4/PS5 or Xbox controller I would use that. I find that my Xbox Series X controller works very well. I wish developers put more love into controller support in iOS games. Apple added support for developers to add rumble to games sometime last year but as far as I know Divinity is the only game that’s bothered to do so.
  5. Sometimes when I play Battle Royale the game randomly will hitch for a second and make a couple of robotic sounding noises and then my iPad will crash and restart. Thankfully I can always rejoin my session and finish the game but it seems to happen even when nothing is going on in the game. I’d say crashes occur once in every 6 games, so definitely notable. It only happens in BR, multiplayer is fine. My best guess for what is causing this is a memory issue since the iPad only has 4 GB of RAM. Temps are a tad warm, but not hot so I don’t think it’s a temperature issue. Graphics configuration is shown below.
  6. This is a very late reply so I’m sure you’ve already made up your mind. But I play COD Mobile on my iPad Pro 2018 and playing at 120hz is a HUGE difference compared to 60. It just feels so much more fluid.
  7. If you want the cheapest option I would go for the iPhone SE 2. Has the A13 chip and will stay supported for at least 6 years or so, but the screen size is smaller than that of the XR or 12. Between the XR and 12 I would recommend the 12 as it has the faster processor, an OLED screen, and will receive support longer than the XR. In my opinion eBay is the best place to get iPhones. I got an SE for my gf for $300 and it was pretty much brand new. Just look for “open box.”
  8. Despite Linus being one of the biggest tech channels on YouTube, he never gets review units from Apple, resulting in his reviews coming out a week or two later than other channels. Even channels with 500K subscribers get review units. So what gives? Did he have an incident in the past that barred him from getting review units, or does Apple just deem him far too critical?
  9. I'm looking for a gaming laptop for my sister. I expect her to use it for Minecraft, Fortnite, COD Warzone, Fallout games, and any other or future 3D games coming out. I would like the laptop to last for at least 5 years as it will be her main machine. My budget is $1,300~ before tax, but I have a little wiggle room. The two laptops I've found so far is the MSI GL65 Leopard with an i7 10750H + RTX 2070 (non-MaxQ), and the ROG Zephyrus G15 with an R9 4900HS and RTX 2060 MaxQ. I was leaning towards the Zephyrus, but it has no webcam which is really detrimental because my sister will be doing lots of Zooms on it, as it will also function as a school machine when needed. I don't think she'd be too happy about having to fumble around with a webcam every time she needs to do a zoom, but other than that I really like the Zephyrus. 10. Looking to upgrade to the 3070 when it arrives, but I'm concerned that my i5 8500 will bottleneck the GPU for high frame rates at 1080p. I'm looking at running triple A games at 1080p 120+hz with all settings maxed. The reason I ask about the i7 9700F is because it seems somewhat affordable and I don't plan on overclocking plus I'd rather not upgrade my motherboard right now. Additionally my use case is regular home use and gaming, no development. So would the 9700F be good or would it make more sense to bite the bullet and get a 9700K and overclock? I already have a Hyper 212 Evo cooler.
  11. Sorry for late reply, I think 6 hours minimum would be ideal. He'll be on the road a lot though so the better the battery life the better for him.
  12. From Texas. Size and screen quality doesn't matter too much but long battery life would be nice. My uncle said he'll be on the road pretty often.
  13. My uncle is looking for a laptop that is a 2-in-1, has the newest generation i7 processor (It can be H or U series), has upgradable RAM, 2.5 HDD/SSD bay, m.2 slot. Having an HDMI or VGA to display to a laptop would also be a nice to have. Price does not matter to him. I've been looking around but I haven't been able to find a laptop that has all of these things.
  14. I’ve been looking at getting an Acer Aspire E15 ($349) laptop for my mom since her old 2011 iMac finally died. The specs should be perfectly fine for her day to day web browsing and word processing but a 5400 RPM 1TB drive will mean slow boot times, something that she loathes. I’d like to keep the hard drive that it comes with and add an M.2 SSD to install Windows on it. So my two main questions are: 1. How do I know which M.2 SSD to get? I believe there are different types of M.2 SSDs 2. How do I move Windows 10 from the hard drive to the M.2 SSD once I have the SSD installed? https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-575-33BM-15-6-Inch-Notebook-Generation/dp/B01K1IO3QW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1521905616&sr=8-2&keywords=acer+aspire+e15 Here is the laptop I’m looking at.
