  1. "There are no images to display"
  2. Thank you , yeah it was a fun little project, can't wait to get a steam controller and start gaming on the thing, we just use it to stream movies at the moment The PS is one of three, we have quite a sizeable console collection, might post some pics of that some day
  3. The case was free , can't complain! Gaben told me Steam Boxes came in all shapes and sizes Edit: Share houses tend to get a little messy, nobody really has the dedicated cleaner role, and there is ALOT of stuff... You haven't even seen our back room yet Awww, I got that shot lined up for the "that escellated quickly" quote They make up 50% of Earths population, you'll find one some day too, I belive in you buddy
  4. Yeah, its a decent-ish case, just a real hassle if you want to run water cooling, we have no Hard drives installed which was why we were able to do it (all our movies are streamed from our server over cat6) and you can't easily change the PSU.
  5. With Tony Abbot in power, I don't know if they are rolling out anymore fiber to the home...
  6. Hey guys, i'm back again toshow you our media center Firstly, the specs, and reasons for choosing them! CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 at stock CPU Cooler: GPU: Saphire Radeon HD 4850 RAM: Kingston HyperX 4x2GB (8GB) @ 800Mhz SSD: 120GB Corsair Force3 MB: Gigabyte EP45-UD3 DVD: LG Blu Ray reader PSU: Some crap built into the case... 450w I think. Case: Antec Overture II The Case, motherboard, RAM and GPU were ripped out of our gaming machines we replaced parts in over the years (we have TONNES of DDR2 era stuff with no projects to use them for ). The case is good because the Blu Ray drive mounts horizontaly, therefore the whole machine fits neatly under the TV The GPU will be replaced when we install Steam OS, so that it can actually be used for some decent gaming we might do crossfire with a set of 6870's and a EP45-DS3 (more spares...) We bought the SSD, Blu Ray drive and water cooler for the job. As it turns out getting the water cooling in was a PAIN. there is no mount in the case for a 120mm fan, but there is a pair of strange fans on the bottom of the case, with vents on the side. All that was required was to duct tape the radiator to what was the HDD mount, and bingo Photo time Water cooling with a time constraint, I can't be screwed messing with the case too much Overall view The air intake for what is now the CPU cooler Sitting the amp for the speakers on top of the case was not the best idea... Removing the VCR player... We NEVER used it anyway as expected... Put some new feet on the PS3 so the amp can breathe a bit better, looks like the were made to be there! All set! Questions, coments and concerns!? Feedback much appreciated!
  7. Make sure that the PSU can handle 6 drives, if it's a decent brand 550w should be enough, but if it's some no name, you might be in trouble down the line
  8. This is what the set up looks like, my computer (build 1) on the left is not set up build 3 is in the middle, and build 2 is on the far right out of shot, the PC visible is the server.
  9. All of our backups take place on our 12TB NAS My mistake, I meant the 3770k Indeed it is, my only gripe with them is that there is not internal USB 3.0 plug for the front socket, you have to run it round the back of the case, Linus pointed that out in his reveiw Other then that, we do have 3 of them for a reason
  10. Well, sadly I can't grab any pictures, as I am away, but we basicaly have a rectangular room, with couches along one of the long sides, and tables with 4 Gaming PC's on the other side. Our server sits under one of the tables next to build 2, our desktop that runs pfSense sits on the other side of the room, and our media center PC sits under our 60" Sony Bravia on one of the short sides, every other space is filled with old games and DVD's... It's not exacltly the cleanest or neatest place to be, but we get by Another cool thing we have is 100/40mps fiber, which is fairly rare in Australia
  11. Having transported multiple PC's around like this without issue: I know they can survive if its not too far away and you drive carefully around corners or over bumps PS: The beige box at the front is no longer with us (it's my old game server that ran a Core2Quad, it has been replaed with a machine I may do a build log on soon ).
