Laptop can't use Ethernet while Android TV can
ToasterBoogaloo replied to ToasterBoogaloo's topic in Networking
Nope, it sets to automatic, but I did set the DNS manually to 1.1.1.1, does that affect anything? -
My router is the one that my ISP provided, it's a Huawei router or some kind, I plugged the ethernet cable into the same port to my android tv and it detects it just fine and the internet is fine, then I tried plugging it into my laptop, still in the same port and my laptop refuses to connect to the internet, it detects it but it won't identify and won't connect to the internet, I have never configured or mess around with ethernet, am I missing something? is there something else I need to do in order to use ethernet? My router is a Huawei and my laptop is a 2020 Asus TUF A15 with Realtek PCie GbE Family controller, at least thats what the network adapter settings said.

I am a design student and I do design stuff and edit videos almost as much as I do some gaming (most of them are fps and racing games such as Valorant, Overwatch and Assetto Corsa) I wonder if compromising a bit on the colour accuracy is worth it for a higher refresh rate, or is it better to just sacrifice refresh rate for a higher colour accuracy I only have my laptop monitor which has 144hz and FHD although not very colour accurate (62.5% sRGB) and I'm planning to get a monitor for it, my price range is below 1,6M IDR (108 USD) I can't stretch it any further that is as high as I can go and my choices so far for a gaming monitor is a Koorui 24E4 (165hz) and as for the more colour accurate option is AOC 22B3HM (75hz), I read the reviews and both are great but Koorui is just a bit more than the AOC and from the page it says its 99% sRGB and the AOC is 101% sRGB, both are VA panels, is sacrificing that colour accuracy worth it for pretty much double the refresh rate?

No the audacity didn't recognize them as distinct device, the headphone and mic shows up as realtek headphone and realtek mic I have tried default and it still doesn't work It has 2 rings so Im pretty sure it's a TRRS

I have my mic (Boya BM1) and my headphone (SR850) and plug it in with a Y splitter to my laptop, it works in audacity but when I want to use it in Discord it doesn't show and doesn't work, is there any way to separate them as different sources? or maybe any way to make them work? Thanks!

I just bought a laptop with 8gb 3200mhz and it's just not enough for me, but since I used all of my money to buy this laptop I can't buy a memory stick anytime soon and I'm gonna move out next week, I do have a 2666mhz from my old laptop, is it okay if I add that alongside my 2666mhz? what kind of performance impact i should expect?

whats a good usage for an old laptop
ToasterBoogaloo posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
i have a compaq 510, i think it was from 2005? it has core 2 duo and 2gb ddr2 if i recall correctly, originally runs vista now runs windows 7, its very laggy for even basic use so no one really can use it but i dont want it to go to waste -
What used phone should I get in 2022?
ToasterBoogaloo replied to ToasterBoogaloo's topic in Phones and Tablets
i don't really mind if it doesn't get the latest software (even though it can be a LITTLE bit annoying) but if its durable, doesn't lag after a year of usage im perfectly okay with that -
What used phone should I get in 2022?
ToasterBoogaloo replied to ToasterBoogaloo's topic in Phones and Tablets
1. uuh any brand are ok except oppo, i have some horrible experience with their software (thats why im getting a new phone) 2. as mentioned in another comment 3.9m idr (250ish usd) 3. 4 years?? thats why im getting an old flagship phone in hope that it can last longer 4. im kinda spoiled with my current phone, it can last a day but probably if it lasts more than half a day im okay with that or heck, if it can last from 6am to 2pm im totally okay with that, as for my life decision, god i don't know -

ToasterBoogaloo replied to ToasterBoogaloo's topic in Phones and Tablets
like 250ish usd? it's like 3,9m idr for me, i found some used note 9 some people say its still good but im just asking around for an alternative -
I don't have a lot of budget but I'm trying to get a new phone, I'm planning to get a Note 9, S10e, or iPhone or some sort, which or what phone should I get and is it gonna be durable and usable for the next 4 years? what drawbacks should I expect from it? or maybe should I better off buying a new mid range phone?

Thread for Linus Tech Tips Video Suggestions
ToasterBoogaloo replied to CPotter's topic in LTT Releases
Probably a long shot but since Linus did the video about buying an inventory full of old computer stuff and the 2005 Gigabyte water cooling system, It would be interesting to see you guys make some kind of enthusiast kind of gaming pc from that day with all of those weird and wacky stuff from early 2000 it would be interesting to see how enthusiast gaming pc look and perform back then and another weird suggestion is to make a full watercooled pc, not just cpu and gpu watercooled but all the components that can be watercooled, like you guys made a video about watercooled ssd and psu, it would be curious to see how awful and incovenient it is and it would be interesting how it compare to a traditional air cooled system
