  2. "Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users this summer, but Microsoft is also extending its offer to software pirates. "We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10," says Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Windows chief, in an interview with Reuters. The move means that thousands, perhaps millions, of machines will get a free copy of Windows 10 even if a license has not been properly acquired. "Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Windows 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows," says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement toThe Verge. "We believe customers over time will realize the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies."" Like woaw... i believe the other shoe will drop on this issue soon. Get your aluminium hats ready boys, they're watching us..... 3. Sigh..... i wasnt even trying to be rude to you, if you felt offended, so be it. but seriously, you need to check your "fhacts" mate. dont know what physics you subscribe to, but in this dimension, no.... just no... EVEN you are talking about wind chill factor, it will also not apply in this case (lol pun), because you have heat generating components inside your case. there is just no way your case can have lower temps than your room when you are drawing in room temp air to cool heated components. if what you are saying is true, then you might as well NOT have any intake.
  4. lol! what? hey man, hate to catch you in a lie/misstatement, but i suppose thats why you need our help with this kinda thing.
  5. one intake one exhaust... my goodness.. haha i think your case temps are the main culprit. here is a quick test, take off your side panel and see what happens to temp readings when playing your game.... let me know what happens then
  6. Possible issues: 1. you have a Positive air set up and your case is not exhausting hot air fast enough 2. you have a lemon (unlikely) the ACX blower is a internal exhaust type of card, make sure you got a sufficient wind tunnel effect going
  7. thanks, i dont know why i couldnt find this previously, all i got were older versions that made me confused
  8. Hi guys. I need help configuring my freenas. I am unable to write to my Freenas drive. I can view it in Windows explorer, but it said i do not have permission to write to the folder. I created a group, created a user, changed the zfs share owner to my user. but I do know not know how to make the server understand that i am that created user as i have no place to key in my username and password before accessing the file. i have just typed in the ip address and i see the folder but cannot affect it in anyway. At this point i am open to reinstalling the OS for my repurposed machine. Maybe even a copy of windows will be okay, i basically need an always on file repository in raid 1 that supports quick easy file sharing and can do backups . i have an office that has approximately 10 laptops that need access to that file repository. i used to have a WD 3.5" external hdd as my file repository, but i need a raid 1 setup for backup against data loss which occurred recently, prompting my move to a nas server. any help with freenas would be great if not my option will be to go back to windows
  9. okay. just wanted to make sure i am not getting some cheap 500W psu (seems to be cheapests rated PSU at like 40 AUD) and then letting it sit at 36w idle and 150 at max draw and be running a very inefficient machine... like what would be the point of that PSU then when even at max ratings i barely get a sniff at the rated power wattage
  10. It is a Silverstone PSU, i am not trying to cheap out on a PSU. i just want to know if my requirements are as stated in the TDP or do i have to factor something else in.
  11. Hi guys, so here are a set of components and their estimated wattage Component Estimated Wattage Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor 6W - 53W MSI B85I Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard 7W - 30W GeIL DRAGON 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory 4W - 4W GeIL DRAGON 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory 4W - 4W Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card 15W - 60W Total: 36W - 151W One of the lowest rated PSUs i found is a 300W PSU. So my question is if this mean that a 300W PSU can power this build? I just want a rig i can leave on all day just for light gaming, small footprint, office work and browsing. So factor in one WD 1TB green drive Theoretically i could get away with a 200W PSU right? Is the PSU rating directly correlated to the parts it is powering?
  12. i play Skyrim, farcry, all the open world games but no worries guys, im getting the impression that it would not be possible given my outdated hardware to game at 4k. i will just settle for 4k playback, netflix mostly... looks like i will be getting a 960
  13. aiight... thanks guys. To recap i need two GPUs. PSU cannot support two GPUs Mobo cannot SLI/xfire anyway (only one slot) so that has to change. CPU not great anyway. Current base parts cannot be repurposed beyond casual games and 4k playback okay that tempered my expectations with my find. so last qn, a 960 should be plenty for casual games and 4k playback right?
  14. Hi guys. I have a HTPC that I recently repurposed from my first PC that is 5 years old. Build: CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H Micro ATX AM3 Motherboard GPU: Asus EAH5750 Formula/2DI/1GD5 Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply TV: 4K LG 55UB850T 55" UHD I only got into overclocking like last year. I managed to find out that i could stably unlock the extra 2 cores in my X2 555 to get a Quad core chip at 3.2GHz. I also found out i could OC it to 3.8GHz. My question is if i could turn it into a 4k gaming powerhouse by swapping out the GPU or would i get bottlenecked by the MOBO, PSU or CPU itself (assuming the fact that the X2 turned into X4 isnt that great anyway)
  15. On the 'performance' point supporting the Nvidia's shady dealings, how is it that you reckon i got my money's worth when i paid for a card with 4 gigs of ram but can only use 3.5 regularly and the 0.5 gig at 1/8 the speed? the performance is not there.... if not why would we experience hitching and the other nonsense? many are right that i do not care about the ROPs and bandwidth, but i do care when my card slows down due to ram....
