  1. I have an AKG k712pro connected to a sound blasterx g5. But your example of hrtf/virtual suround sound is good and I use hrtf in pubg... but for the best results should set my sound blasterx g5 to stereo or 7.1? ( If I switch modes stereo/5.1/7.1 than it changes outomaticly in windows also to the set mode as in the software, so I can't set my g5 in windows to 7.1 and in software to stereo). I use my sound blasterx g5 more as an amp for my akg k712pro at the moment than utilizing the software (no eq/ no sound mode/ ONLY SET TO HIGH GAIN) other than for movie watching to get a little more bass through my headphones. But I'm not sure if I'm doing it right to get the most out of my sound now... Or do you have any recommendations for a better gaming sound setup? (looking for a new dac/amp maybe) Or far better headphones?
  2. I have the sound blasterx g5 paired with akg k712 pro headphones and modmic 5 and loving it!!!
  3. Well yeah I know that but it is just that place it is touching... I know that different pads can change sound drastically but if that is the only way I can improve comfortwise on my ears I will do it and test the difference in sound... For me the sound is important but comfort much more... and I'm not that big of an audiophile that a little change in sound is going to crunch teeth It is more important for me that I can game long sessions, and at the moment that is not the case even with the akg k712 pro
  4. yep I think so. I think I will just buy the dt990 pro also and compare it with the k712pro... I can always the headband of the dt990 pro a little bit to get less clamping force. But ar the earpads deeper on the dt990? because that is also a point on the k712 pro that hurts after a while (my ears touching the drivers). But if I like the one more over the other I can always buy earpads that are deeper https://dekoniaudio.com/ Maybe even wrap the dt990pro headband around the k712pro headband... will see
  5. So I purchased the akg k712 pro and I like the sound a lot! But after an hour wearing them they feel uncomfortable ( the band begins to hurt on my head and my ears are touching so it is just a little bit to shallow). I still can return them... But will the beyerdynamic dt990 pro/edition/premium be better for me? Pfff I'm worried that it will have the same problem of my ears touching the inside of the cups... (the astro a40 don't have a hard clamping force and thicker earpads so don't have a problem with those).
  6. Oke so if I'm correct this is what I need to do: - sound blasterx g5 in windows configure as 7.1 surround - on the sbx software: 1. blasterx acoustic engine OFF 2. eq set to less bass if needed... 3. if I set windows to 7.1 in software it will also set to virtual 7.1 ( or better just stereo, other "non gaming" amp/dacs dont have this feature) Are those the settings to use with good headphones? And is my reasoning behind why getting the akg k712pro good or ...
  7. I have read your review of the k702 / k712pro / dt990pro on overclockers and that made my decision to buy the akg k712pro. From everything I read it is an amazing overall headphone that has the goods of the k702 and dt990pro (good bass and good soundstage) so good for movies and gaming. I'm planning to play with the eq settings to tone down the bass for games and an other profile (flat eq?) for movies and music. Only thing I'm concerned about is comfort but I can not say something before trying them... (can always send them back for the dt990pro if comfort is an issue). One more thing can you help me to get the best audio from my sound blasterx g5? You talk a lot about binaural simulation but what is that exactly and which settings to activate and which not... At the moment my g5 is set in windows at default 7.1 surround, and in the software set to headphone(stereo), blasterX acoustic engine off (surround, crystalizer, bass, smart volume, dialog plus), and equalizer off. *note in game I use scout mode atm with my astro a40 headset... that gives me the best results for hear enemies from far away and directional awarness. I hope this decision makes sense otherwise you can tell me different, I'm a noob at this and love to learn new things!
  8. well I took the sound blasterx g5 because it is an external dac (I like the scout mode button and also that I can switch profiles just by pressing buttons on my desk, so no need to use hotkeys or going into software) Only thing I'm concerned about is it gets really hot... is this normal for such an amp/dac? I now use my astro a40 on the g5 and already love it but want something better! I still like the idea of the dt990 pro more (more "fun" based) so regardless of the k702 is the dt990 pro a good gaming headset that can pinpoint enemies and has a good soundstage and imaging? Or will the bass be to much for that? Why I think the dt990 pro is better for me... I think it is more fun for movies and music overall, is this true? One more thing can you give me te inner diameter of the earcups (I have big ears and hurts quickly if they touching the earcups).
  9. I'm going to pair it with the sound blasterx g5 (not for the surround) but it is the only decent "cheaper" dac/amp combo that is available and got good reviews. So I normaly can use a bass heavy profile for movies?
  10. Mmmmm if I see it like that the akg k702 is indeed the best option... maybe followed by the dt990pro if the treble lowered a little bit ( if comfort is not on point with the k702 for me). I have a narrow face but I'm not worried about the k702 creeping down (I can always use some very small zip ties above the elastic bands to prevent this). But is it possible to use a custom preset or something for movies to get more bass out of the k702, or is it not possible because the headphone is designed with lower bass?
  11. Oke so normaly if I buy the headphones new it will be without the bumbs? But I'm still worried about the headband because every headphone I used (not as good as those of course) but it hurts everytime on the top of my head... I'm worried that the akg will hurt for me after a while (I can not fit them first). for me this is what I think after reading everything is this correct?: - k702 = competitive gaming - k712 pro = better overall, little less for gaming - dt990 pro = still good, better comfort And is the k702 able to get a rich sound in movies and still have enough base? (sorry I'm not an audiophile).
  12. Well I have searched a lot about many headphones and which headphones I can buy local. And it is hard to choose between akg k712 pro or the beyerdynamic dt990pro 250Ohm... I can also get the akg k702 but the model with the bumbs on the headband and yes I want the best in game advantage but also a little of base and think that those 2 are better for that and more comfortable? From what I understand the k712 pro and dt990pro are both good for gaming but is the k712pro worth it over the dt990pro? akg k712 pro: 210euro beyerdynamic dt990pro: 120euro Also for comfort the dt990pro looks so much more comfortable... Hope you guys can help me!
  13. which headphones around that price are the best for competitive gaming and still sound good for movies and music (most important is gaming and giving good directional awarness) the akg k702 looks good and comfy but are there better headphones for that price?

    which headphone?

So you say that the k701/k702 will be better than dt990, k712 and hd598 for gaming? And is there much difference between k701 and k702? Also with which dac/amp do you have it paired for gaming?

    which headphone?

Oke I'm looking for a good pair of heaphones for gaming. For me it is important to get good directional audio to know where the enemies are. which headphones is the best for it? - AKG k712 pro - sennheiser hd598 And is the hd598 better than the sennheiser game one? I like the added mice...
