  1. Budget (including currency): $4K~ AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: COD, FS22, WOW, DBD, Hunt Showdown, Squad, TWW3, Destiny 2, EU4, MWO, MW5, so on and so forth. Other details Main display is a Samsung Odyssey G7 (1440p 240hz), Secondary display is an old dell 3008WFP running at 1920x1200 https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/Hf9LRv Hi, Please if I'm completely wrong with any of my premises or reasonings, be kind. AM5 for the "future proofing" the platform will hopefully provide. CPU - 7800X3D IF it makes sense when it launches price to performance wise, or atleast isn't stupidly overpriced price to performance. Hopefully it has brings performance increases to gaming as the 5800X3D did. CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U12A chromax black. I'm a fan (haha get it) of Noctua, and a mate of mine has this cooler and rates it well. I have a preference for black and no RGB. I've never overclocked anything and don't plan on starting. I'm not a fan of AIOs. Motherboard - ASRock X670E Pro RS ATX. Now I'd be happy with anything B650E up. As I see it, all that I will need is PCIE 5.0 for my GPU in the future. I don't plan on shelling out for PCIE 5.0 SSD's for years, I'll be coming from SATA and mechanical drives so I figure PCIE 3.0 NVME drives will be more than enough. BUT it is very important to me that the motherboard has optical audio out. So the Pro RS is the cheapest motherboard with that. It only has 1 x16 slot but I've never had anything more than a GPU in any of my PCIE slots so I don't see that as an issue? Memory - G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30. This is the first item that I really have no idea on, DDR4 was Bdie. But looking around the interwebs I can't really see a concensus on a particular die manufacturer, speed or latency for DDR5. Very interested on peoples thoughts. Storage - Crucial P3 4TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0X4 NVME. I want to get away from SATA SSD's and mechanical HDD's. Less cables for a cleaner build and the $perGB of the P3 4TB is pretty good, sure its not PCIE 4.0 speeds but for someone who has never had a PCIE NVME drive I figure it'll be a big step up. And as time goes on if I need more storage, with the Pro RS I can add up to an additonal 3 of these. I know games keep getting bigger and bigger but 16TB should be enough....I hope. GPU - GALAX ST 4070Ti. Definatley not married to the 4070 Ti. I'm not sure what or if any new GPU's will be released by April 6th (the alleged release date of the 7800X3D). I know that the new GPU's don't really offer an FPSper$ increase over the older GPU's but new older, higher end GPU's seem few and far between and I'm wary of the secondhand market due to the bust of mining. So I've pencilled in a 4070ti but very open to suggestions. Case - Fractal Design Focus 2 ATX Mid tower case. I like black, don't like RGB. Not really into PSU shrouds. Mid tower because I like my desktop to be a desktop. In my carelessness/clumsiness over the years I have lost 2 PCs to drink spills. Now my desktop lives on my desktop, not underneath. Otherwise no real reason for this case other than price. If you follow the pcpartpicker link you'll see I've added a case fan for the rear of the case. PSU - Silverstone HELA 1200R 1200W 80+ Platinum. I want this to be my power supply for a long time, over atleast 2 or more future builds. I spend my Friday afternoon/evening on my PC and most of my weekend (10+ hours), however not much during the week. So I'd like to get feedback on whether going for platinum over gold is worth it. Otherwise the reasons for choosing this PSU are. 1. It has a PCIE12+4pun 12vHPWR connector for current and future GPUs, fully modular (see above about the storage cabling). 2. I know that 1200W is way overkill but TDP's just keep going up and I think that 850W might not be enough in the future. In my region the next step up for a PSU with a 12vHPWR connector at platinum rating after 850W is this 1200W. If the concensus is that platinum isn't worth it over gold then I'll revisit this component. Anyway, those are the part and my reasonings for them. I'd really appreciate feedback. Cheers.
  2. In games dota, wow, farming simulator etc. My computer will randomly freeze up for between-15 seconds. Sometimes it just freezes, sometimes I'll get a black or blue screen before it comes back. With task manager open I see a spike on the GPU. Could my GPU be dying? My specs are: Windows 10 Home 64 bit Asus TUF Bsomething (BIOS version 0403) Intel i5 11400f (stock) 2x8GB Gskill TritonZ RAM (XMP 3somethingMhz) Gigabyte 1080 xtreme gaming (stock) Seasonicfocus 550 (550W 80+ gold)
  3. I could just be a bad typist, I don't have an office job so I don't spend that much time typing. I bought a logitech G910 a year or so ago and the experience has been horrible. My key strokes either don't register or they register ttoo mmannyy ttiimmeess, so I spend more time fixing typos than typing usually. Because I don't know if the problem is me or the Romer G switches, I'm unsure if something like a mx silent red switch would be better or worse. If it's me and I need something more tactile would a mx brown suit better? Will I make more typos with a linear than a tactile switch? And if so from the 5 minutes googling I've done, apparently brinigng up mx brown switches seems to be heresy to mechanical switch enthusiasts. I'm looking for something quiet/silent. Full size (not 10 keyless) Cheers.
  4. Thanks for replying, the Samson Q2U looks like the way I will go. Could you recommend a desk mount arm/boom thing for it, is it called a shock mount?
  5. I have zero experience in audio and have only used headsets previously. But as my headset has died I thought I'd dive into something more high end. This is the list of things I've liked the look of so far. Headphones - Audio-Technica ATH-A990Z. I want closed back so I don't get leakage into the mic. (I've heard thats what happens with open back), they were recommended by a mate. DAC - Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 Plus DAC. The D1 Plus has 3 different models https://www.mav-audio.com/store/index.php/dac.html (Was recommended by the same mate) Mic - Rode PodMic. Want a dynamic mic as apparently condensor will pick up keyboard typing and mouse clicking sounds. Wanted to go XLR because apparently its easier to muck around with and do different silly things to your voice. Mic XLR interface - No idea. If I'm way off base with any of this stuff or you have another suggestion please let me know. Also suggestions for the mic XLR interface are appreciated. Cheers.
  6. I cannot find the debug speaker header location for my ASUS TUF Gaming B560M Plus WiFi LGA 1200 mATX Motherboard. If someone could tell me or link me that would be great. Cheers.
  7. Yeah I love Total War. Would you suggest the 5800x or 5900x then?
  8. Planning a new build for gaming at 1440p and casual (hobby) video editing. I was planning on going with the 5800x but after seeing reviews about thermals and the LTT video, the impression I got was that the 5900x was a better value. At MSRP. I'm coming from a 4770 (non K), I'd obviously want something much better but I would imagine the 5600x would be a massive improvement. Will going to a 5800x or 5900x be that much of a price/perfomance gain again from the 5600x? Prices are in AUD 5600x - $499 5800x - $668 5900x - $899 Cheers.
  9. I did want all the slots filled. What compatibility issues can arise? I may not reply for awhile, I'm off to work.
  10. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/WraithBurn/saved/6zFxHx Hopefully going to get a 3080ti when they launch. Just at the planning stage now.
  11. I have my heart set on Trident Z Neo memory for my new build, the CPU will be a 5800X. Gaming with casual (hobby) video editing. I've looked at the different kits available and I know that more expensive = faster, better timings etc etc. However I'm not sure where the "sweet spot" price to performance wise is for what I want to do. Looking for advice/opinions. Cheers. (pricing in screenshot is in AUD)
  12. Hi, Is there such a think as a 4U server chassis that is basically a blank slate? No PSU window, no drive bays, maybe just some fans and the riser plate that the mother board attaches to? I've been lookng for awhil now and cant find anything. TIA!
  13. G'day I currently own a Logitech G910 and it's absolute garbage. (out of warranty period now). Also have a wired MadCatz mouse that plays up occasionally. So I've been seeing that apparently wireless mouse's have gotten pretty good and that you can get mouse pads that wirelessly charge them. Only problem is the only two options I can find are Logitech (who I don't want to go with after this abomination that is the G910), and Razer.....which is well Razer. So if anyone can recommend a wired keyboard with wrist rest, wireless mouse with charging mouse pad (all the same brand preferably) I'm all ears. Cheers.
  14. Windows was installed on the drive about 6 months ago. Trying to boot from the uefi.
  15. Windows 10 I'm not sure on the format or how to check from that screen.
