  1. I like to do light video/photo editing too, so maybe 1440p might be better. I wish I could afford two 3440x1440 monitors to get the best of both.
  2. Thanks for the input. I mainly do school work and like to have multiple windows open for homework etc. Also, I used to have two ASUS VN248H-Ps, so that monitor is basically a downgrade not including freesync. I definitely want to go ultrawide or 1440p. I also want to stay in the 24" to 25" in area for 16:9.
  3. Hey everyone, I'm currently looking to buy two new monitors, to replace my 1080p ones I just sold. I'm mainly focused on gaming, light video and photo editing, and general productivity. I am having trouble deciding between ~24" 1440p 16:9 or a ~29" 2560x1080 ultrawide, I'm also wondering if buying used monitors would be a good idea, since my budget right now is around $250. I could buy a single monitor now, and another later, but buying both at once at my current budget would be nice. I'd also prefer IPS, with 5ms response time or lower. 60hz is fine, and I don't really want to pay for G-sync or Freesync, because I don't know if I'm going to sell my R9 290 or not. I am currently looking at for 1440p: Lenovo - L24q-20, which goes on sale new for about $160, and is about $110-$120 on ebay. This is probably my top pick right now. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-l24q-20-23-8-ips-led-qhd-monitor-silver/5747424.p?skuId=5747424 Acer G247HYU, which also goes on sale for sub $200 I think, but is not common to find used. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-G247HYU-smidp-23-8-inch-Monitor/dp/B01N1J0B3Q/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1518665303&sr=1-6&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6570749011%2Cp_36%3A-25000 For 21:9, here's a monitors I was looking at: LG Electronics 29UB55-B https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-29UB55-B-29-Inch-Monitor/dp/B00R59ETB0/ref=sr_1_13?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1518665672&sr=1-13&keywords=ultrawide&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A3547807011 I guess I'm wondering, if anyone has used similar monitors from both categories, and had a similar use case, which did you prefer and why? Also, what's your experience buying used monitors on ebay? Obviously if i got the ultra wide I wouldn't be able to afford two, but the screen real estate helps. If anyone has any alternative monitors, feel free to suggest them. I have crappy monitors I'm using right now, so I'm not in a rush and am willing to wait for sales etc. Here is my old monitors for reference: https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16824236335?ignorebbr=true&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile-_-pla-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-N82E16824236335&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2Y_UBRCGARIsALglqQ2zZbzLfQ0dmTZhdGdqGp8SznUqPFl94PkfOZ3tnSlUFdU4v6FUnjgaAmRyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds thanks for your input!
  4. Hello all, I love my G3 but I'm beginning to get annoyed with not having a finger print scanner, and on top of that the phone has numerous issues that at this point I don't feel like dealing with/fixing. I was looking for help finding a phone that wouldn't be a "perceived" downgrade. Here is what I need out of the phone: $200 budget -Must feel better or the same in normal use compared to my G3. IE The old 801 is getting beat by 600 tier chips these days as far as multitasking goes, and some even have better gpus onboard. Even if single core performance is worse, etc. I'm not as much of a hardcore user like I use to be. I mainly use YouTube Netflix facebook etc and game lightly. This is probably the hardest part since I'm on Sprint and options are limited. -The most intensive game I play is probably fallout shelter or Bethesda pinball. A 1080p screen and a worse gpu might make gaming feel the same as the 1440p adreno 330 setup on the G3 to be honest. -A ~5.5 or bigger screen is preferred. Nothing below 5 inches I'm a big guy with big clumsy thumbs. 1080p is fine. I'm not so sure about 720p at this screen size. -Fingerprint scanner and SD card support up to 128gb are a must. I just bought a 128gb card a few months back. -I would also really like wireless charging, but it's not mandatory at all. It just sucks cause I bought a wireless charger recently. -ROOT/UNLOCK. Whether it's official or some lovable turbo nerd cracked the phone on XDA it's a must. -might consider a used phone that sells for cheap enough. -and most importantly (and annoyingly) Sprint CDMA compatible. The main reason I'm asking for help. If I was on T-Mobile or AT&T I'd just buy a random high-ish spec Chinese phone right now. It may seem dumb that I'm asking for help, but I always just bought the flagship I wanted for $100 with a two year. Ez peezy. Now I have no clue where to start looking. Worse comes to worse I can get another G3 for $70. Thanks for the help.
  5. I'm thinking it was some kind of bug/back end issue. Reason I posted this is because it was like this for about two hours for me, and recent reviews were reporting it, so I assumed it was a change. Seems like YouTube isn't THAT dumb.
  6. After a few hours it went away for me JUST now. I have seen other in the Android reviews complaining about it. Idk if it was random or what. It might just be some weird back end issue?
  7. So YouTube decided to change the subscription feed on the app. They thought we'd love to see random channel suggestions instead of actual videos. Keep in mind there are ZERO videos on the subscription tab now. All you have is the subscription list on top. Edit: It might be a bug or back end issue. It JUST went away for me after being like this for hours as of this edit. It almost seems like a page for a new account with no subscriptions. Some people have seen it some have not.
  8. Ok boys and girls, I'm about to just yolo swag it. But which one should I yolo Swag? http://www.ebay.com/itm/201374224459?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/151872981664?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/291654389950?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The thinking begins. I was thinking of going for the last two links with the highest clock.
  9. Ya, I was looking at those. I'm going to assume I can't upgrade to either of what you posted, since the spec sheet says it only supports CPUs with a 800mhz FSB. I might ask around, but I think you're right. Not really worth it since it seems only dual cores are supported. Thanks for the help. Also think it's worth posting in the Server/NAS forum? I didn't think about it that way at first so I posted here. Don't want to double post for no reason though.
  10. Well dang... I was hoping I could put at least two 4 core CPUs in it for cheap and have a decent little server. Could you give some model numbers anyways? Depending on the price I might upgrade them just for the shits and giggles.
  11. So I can't really upgrade it then? Power efficiency isn't something I care about. I'm not going to use it as a full time server. Maybe some kind of personal server for my friends to game on or something, if it's possible to upgrade.
  12. Hey there, I was recently gifted a ~10 year old server from from Siemens. It currently has dual SL7ZF single core processors on the SE7525GP2 board. Anyways, I was wondering what the best compatible xeons are. I found a spec sheet on Intel's site, but I'm pretty sure that only lists the "release" processors (and the updated list is a dead link), and through research I've found that some significantly better processors where released for the 604 socket. I'm in my early 20s, so someone with experience that knows more about this platform would be a great help. It seems info is slightly more scarce than more current hardware, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. FYI my CPU upgrade budget would be about $30-$60. I saw a set of 6 core xeons for $32 on ebay. Also, if anybody can tell me whether some more consumer type heatsinks (not so massive and loud) where released, that would be cool. If not I'll just cobble something together in the future. Thanks PS Here's some links http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/sb/se7320sp2_se7525gp2_tps_40.pdf
  13. I got a gigabyte 290 and I've been waiting for AMD to release something new again (300 was poo). A 480 would be sick. Excited for the new cards even if I don't win!
  14. Fallout 4 is great game. I think some people don't understand the difference between "great story" and "great game." I haven't beaten Fallout 4 yet, but the gameplay is light years ahead of Fallout 3/NV. It's like playing a fully modded version of Fallout 3 with better graphics. Bethesda listens to community by incorporating ideas from popular mods. Bethesda gets yelled at. K. (Of course things like dialog aren't as good as 3/NV. The game is still very fun though, and an overall step forward for the franchise. All the dislikes will likely be fixed in the next Fallout game.) As far as stability, NV runs ok on windows 8+. 3 however is garbage. If you want to play it on anything BUT XP, you have to mod it. Also going back to vanilla 3/NV? I hope you mean modded. By the time you beat the game, you've seen most of the world, especially in NV. I'm replaying Fallout 3 modded and enjoying it, but I don't think I could stomach playing New Vegas over.
