  1. Its a EVGA 750wGQ which is modular so you only plug in the pieces of the harness you need and leave the other slots empty for future use. Both ports are 8 pins but the one that didnt work is raised up further. Ill post a pic of it to explain better. But I plugged everything in, set my RAM speed and was up and gaming perfectly last night.
  2. So after plugging the cpu power into the cpu #2 on the PSU its booting and i can get into the BIOS. Not sure what changed there.
  3. Unfortunately im stuck at a black screen and cant get the system to post to get any further information. Ive tried every RAM slot configuration i can.
  4. Additional note: the LEDs above the actual RAM slots are lit up so its detecting the RAM in some way i think.
  5. Every set of RAM I've tried are rated at 3200 mhz.
  6. Apologies for the long post but I am at my wits end with this build and i feel like it's something simple I'm missing. I cannot get this computer to boot and is giving me the DRAM LED no matter what i do. First off the specs: Z370 MSI M5 gaming mobo I7 8700k Corsair 3200 8gb x 2 RAM Corsair h100i v2 cooler EVGA 750w PSU GTX 1060 6gb GPU (not installed atm) First day i built it, it fired up fine. After a night of downloading games i played for the first time and worked really well for a few hours. Then it crashed, giving me the dram led and an error code. The next day it worked for another few hours and crashed again. After trying to troubleshoot it and not working with any RAM configuration i sent back the motherboard. New one does the same thing but with no error codes (dont remember the original codes). So i boight new RAM thats on their list of combatible RAM and its still giving me the DRAM LED. I've tried switching the RAM to different slots. only using one stick. Using working RAM from another comp. Loosing and tightening the cooler. Taking the cooler off completely and unplugging it. Checking for bent CPU pins. Taking the battery out to reset the CMOS. Nothing works and it wont post. Im starting to think its the CPU. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Thanks for the info guys, really appreciate it! I'm going straight to T1 on that cooling list and getting a corsair H100i to replace my H60 by them. Is MSI a good brand for a Mobo? My friend told me about them and I've been using one of theirs for a little over a year and i love it. Any recommendations on a decent PSU? I think currently I have a 600w one in now.
  8. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from an i5 6600k to an i7 8700k. I was wondering if I had to/advised to upgrade some other parts or if I could just pop in the new CPU, do a fresh install (something I've been meaning to do) and be on my way? Currently I'm using: Intel i5 6600k CPU MSI Pro Solution Intel Z170A LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard (Z170A SLI) Mobo Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MH RAM I feel like this is a stupid question and I'm just overthinking this but I don't want to mess things up. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
