  1. Here's an issue that I have seen for years, but finally want to fix. I have my windows desktop hooked up to my home theatre system. Windows PC 2080 Super --(hdmi)--> Marantz 7.2 Reciever --(hdmi)--> Sony TV So, when audio output first starts there's a loud POP sound through the speakers before the audio starts. The only way to prevent this is to have some type of audio constantly playing at a really low level. Examples: Starting a new YouTube video, The Chime when you change the volume level while nothing is playing, etc. The only idea I have is some type of software that plays a really low almost silent bit of audio to keep the speakers activated. This used to happen on my Yamaha A/V years ago too. Any suggestions?
  2. Best Storage for Long Term Backup. i.e. SD Cards aren't Forever I have had so many non-tech friends and family members think they can just fill up an SD card with a camera or video camera, and toss it in a drawer till they're in their 80s and want to revisit the past. I tell them it's not a good idea, but I wish I had a TQ to point them to. TQ is so clear and to the point, and I would just get too technical or wind up losing their attention. I honestly don't understand the specifics of why NAND flash is a bad LTS method.
  3. Not sure where to post this, but I really love PIA. I have a Verizon FiOS Gigabit connection in Pennsylvania, and don't even realize I have PIA running. It makes no noticeable impact on my speeds. I run an eCommerce business, and I have white-listed my own IP addresses for our administration panel, and just got the 403 Forbidden page because I forgot to disable my VPN. This means I had PIA running while playing CS:GO, and while downloading a game on steam, and got >200 Mbps d/l, and had no idea it was running. Bottom line: As a lurker and subscriber of LTT, I really support your choice to carry PIA as a sponsor.
  4. The title basically says it all. This is something I've been curious about for years, but just thought about again today. Do you think Windows will eventually add support for PNGs with Transparency to the Windows Clipboard? I'm a web developer, and I've been on Windows since Win95, and just recently got my first Mac for iOS development, and realized that you could actually copy a PNG from the web, and paste it into Photoshop without an issue. On Windows it just replaces the alpha with black, and ruins it. The only workaround I've ever found is to copy the URL, and open the URL directly from Photoshop's 'File->Open' dialog box. And, of course, you can save it to the HDD, and re-open it from there. Anyone know anything psuedo-techincal about why Windows doesn't support this? Anyone ever found a system extension / app to add the support?
