  1. Honestly, 16GB is plenty unless you're doing serious video editing/3d work/other content creation tasks, and 3000mhz should be sufficient... With a higher budget I'd maybe add in an R7 2700 to give you a bit of a CPU performance boost, but either way I'd definitely grab an aftermarket cooler so that you can do a bit of overclocking.
  2. Yeah that's total BS... the Ryzen 5 2600 is one of the best values in PC hardware right now, and you won't regret going with AMD.
  3. In that case the linux LiveUSB route would be a better option for you
  4. So you tried to boot off the broken drive? That's not a good idea I was suggesting to connect the drive as a secondary drive to a PC that already has an OS on it.
  5. What do you mean by "no good"? The drive wasn't detected at all? The drive was detected but no data was on it? If you want help you have to be more specific about what's going on.
  6. You could try making an Ubuntu live USB and booting off that, or maybe pull the drive and stick it in another machine as a secondary?
  7. If it's an XP machine I doubt it's running an SSD
  8. Yeah your windows install is fucked, as is possibly your HDD. Although I question why you're running XP in the first place?
  9. Yeah that kit would be fine, MT/s is the same as MHz in the case of RAM. (just a tip: next time you make a post asking for hardware recommendations; mention the country you're in so we know where to look for hardware)
  10. The best Linus channel and the only one that really matters
  11. Linus accidentally leaked his address on stream, so they pulled it in order to censor that.
  12. Here's an example of what you could get with the budget you're working in: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor $149.99 @ Amazon Motherboard ASRock - B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $69.89 @ OutletPC Memory GeIL - EVO SPEAR 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $87.99 @ Newegg Business Storage Western Digital - Blue 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $57.89 @ OutletPC Storage Hitachi - Ultrastar 7K3000 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $52.88 @ Amazon Video Card EVGA - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB XC GAMING Video Card $339.99 @ Newegg Case Cooler Master - MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case $46.98 @ B&H Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $67.98 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $933.59 Mail-in rebates -$60.00 Total $873.59 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-16 12:35 EST-0500
  13. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233852&Description=ddr4 3000&cm_re=ddr4_3000-_-20-233-852-_-Product This is what i'd go with personally
  14. I mean, yeah it sorta does I'd get at least 16gb with that setup but that's just me.
  15. Keep in mind an eGPU enclosure will run you probably around $300 + the cost of the card, so in the case of an RTX 2060 you're looking at a total of $650 for the iGPU setup vs $1000 or so for a full second PC.
  16. How are your temps? Download a free trial of AIDA64 and run a CPU stress test to see what happens.
  17. Just get a kit that's at least DDR4-3000 speed if you want the best performance out of your system, as Ryzen loves fast memory. Corsair Vengeance LPX is always a good value pick but if you find something else similarly specced with good reviews for a lower price, go with that.
  18. I would go for the desktop personally, you don't need to spend $1500 on an 2060 system, grab a Ryzen 5 2600 and you can do the whole thing under $1k probably. EGPUs still aren't perfect and you won't be getting everything your GPU is capable of if you go that route.
  19. yes, as long as the speed and CAS are the same it should work fine.
  20. It could also be an issue with the drive that W10 is installed on, what does CrystalDiskInfo say @m33rak?
  21. That's bullshit, it doesn't cost $27 to ship something that small. Give someone at newegg a call and see if they'll give you the label or at least lower the price.
  22. Try calling Logitech's support maybe?
  23. Personally I like the NZXT coolers, great performance and IMO the best aesthetics of the bunch. Although if reliability is of utmost importance I'd still recommend a tower-style air cooler over any AIO.
