  1. Hello everyone, I'm building a PC for my friend, however I'm having difficulty in getting the system to POST and show something on the display . Relevant hardware specifications: - CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x - Mobo: Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX - RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 (2x16GB) - GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti GAMING OC V2 12G - PSU: Corsair RM850e I tested the system at its bare before putting it in the case, just in case something like this ended up happening. I only had the CPU, GPU, RAM, and PSU connected to the motherboard, using a screwdriver to short the power button pins to turn it on. I also had a fan connected to the CPU fan header. I later tried without the GPU and with the display connected directly to the motherboard, but that did not yield any successful results either. Since I didn't actually have a cooler attached on the CPU yet (as I didn't want to unless I knew the system worked), I only had the system on for about 15 seconds maximum with each attempt. My motherboard does not have any POST diagnostics, no built-in speaker, no LEDs (at least I'm pretty sure it doesn't as I dont see anything light up), and I currently don't have a PC speaker on me to connect to the headers. The system does receive power - PSU/GPU/CPU fans spin, and RGB lights up on the RAM and the GPU, so it can't be an issue with the PSU. I connected to the display using both HDMI and DisplayPort connections, just in case one of the ports happened to not be working for some reason too, that didn't help I have read the pinned post on POSTing issues already and can confirm that I have already tried all the suggestions given, but I'll just better clarify what troubleshooting steps I took: - Reseated all power connections several times (on the motherboard/GPU and on the PSU as it's modular) - Reseated the CPU several times - Reseated the GPU several times - Reseated both RAM sticks several times - Tried using both RAM slot pairings (1 & 3 and 2 & 4) - Tried just using one RAM stick - Connected display to GPU with it present, and to the motherboard without the GPU present - Inspected the CPU socket several times, all the pins look to be in pristine condition I know I don't need a BIOS update either, as the motherboard support page says it's supported my CPU since the first firmware version. I'm a little baffled as what to do next here, and at this point my only conclusion is that the motherboard must be defective in some way. Before I go and reach out to the motheboard vendor for support and a potential RMA (which is the last thing I'd want to do), I'd like to shoot my shot here to see if anyone here has any suggestions as to what to do. Thank you!
  2. ...what? that's not really confusing, just install the drivers from the CD, and then install the driver for your graphics card
  3. would you be able to take the side panel off the computer, shine a light into the computer and then take a picture?
  4. yeah I'm in the UK, I'll look on Ebay though EDIT: A used is about £50 or £70, but instead of upgrading to a 6350 short-term it should be worthwhile to just wait
  5. erh, not really. there's no Intel GPUs, power supplies, cases, or coolers. Well, that's unless you want to use Intel HD Integrated Graphics and the stock Intel cooler.
  6. for some reason, a 6350 costs like £100, which is really stupid. for a short-term upgrade it's a bit dumb.
  7. is your ASUS motherboard an AM3 motherboard with an FX processor? because that's definitely not uncommon, older ASUS gen boards can have their VRMs explode and potentially catch fire if the CPU is too powerful, including my motherboard.
  8. My brother built this machine almost 6 years ago now, and then last year he gave his computer to me as he built a new one with a 6700K and GTX 1070. Unfortunately, the parts he got were low-spec, even for 2013. In the past month I've heavily upgraded the machine, replacing the GT 610 with a GTX 770, a new 1tb Firecuda Hard Drive, a new EVGA 600w power supply, a new CPU cooler, and a new case. Originally, I didn't want to upgrade my entire platform, because doing so is literally the equivalent of buying a new computer completely since I've upgraded everything. I was thinking of upgrading my FX-4100 to an FX-8350 because it was only £60 and also because you could get decent performance out of it once overclocked. However, I asked around and my motherboard just wouldn't handle the 8350, where the VRMs would be bottlenecking the 8350 and the VRMs potentially exploding or even catching fire. I've set some components for my new AM4 CPU, Mobo and DDR4 RAM: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core with Wraith Cooler - £158.99 Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4 2666 MHz RAM - £65.98 Gigabyte B450 Aorus M MicroATX AM4 Motherboard - £85.52 All of this stuff would cost about £300 for just all that, which seems a bit on the pricey side as I'm pretty heavy on budget. I know that I could've gone with a much cheaper motherboard for about £50, but a requirement for me that may seem unusual is for the motherboard to have onboard 7.1 audio jacks. I have 5.1 surround speakers, and I just can't do without 5.1. My ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 had 7.1 onboard audio and it was fantastic, to say the least. Literally all MicroATX motherboards seem to have ditched 7.1 for just 3 audio jacks: Microphone, Headphone and Line in, and this was really the only MicroATX motherboard I could find with onboard 7.1 jacks. Is anybody able to advise some stuff that would be cheaper like the motherboard or RAM? Thanks?
  9. I'm not buying the card, I just saw the link to it in the LTT discord and found it interesting how this differs from the usual scam GPUs
  10. So someone in the LTT discord provided a link to an eyecatching listing of a 1080ti that is supposedly "refurbished" for about $110 here. I've already seen tons of scam GPUs on Ebay that show a GPU with some sketchy Chinese shroud and a VGA connector when there's clearly not supposed to be one, and just a lot of red flags in general. However, what's different from this is that they seem to be showing pictures of what seems to be an actual 1080ti, instead of just showing their actual scam product like those Chinese ones did. I'm assuming that the seller just took pictures of his own personal 1080ti, then made a listing acting like he's selling the card, but in reality he's going to ship either nothing or a scam GPU. I know that this isn't some clueless seller that doesn't know how much this is worth as he sells these as "refurbished" cards. What do you guys think on this different approach for a GPU scam?
  11. G2A is just a shit and sketchy site overall, I highly encourage not using G2A
  12. Yeah, it wasn't an OS issue, it's just for some reason the installer thought it was one. The real issue was my graphics card of which I'm upgrading soon anyway
  13. Nvidia released a hotfix driver just yesterday for 417.01 to fix 3 issues, including Edge not working. You can download it here: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4745?linkId=100000004192262
  14. Asked on GeForce forums and got my actual answer there. Thanks for the suggested help anyway, guys.
  15. So I need Windows 10 for the latest drivers? Crap. All that aside, why the hell does Nvidia list these drivers under Windows 7? And do you know the latest version of the drivers that work with Win7?
