  1. AOC AGON AG241QX i ahve this cheap and quite good
  2. I use electrical contact cleaner to clean mobos, PCB's and heatsinks, drown them in it and the wait for it to evaporate. be carful dont use chlorinated versions or hevay duty versions
  3. AOC AGON AG241QX i run this monitor at 1440p and 144Hz over a 15m HDMI cable (you need to take into consideration res and refresh and which standrad your devices use when deciding on what cable to use) since i was using a long run DP wouldnt be suitable for my application my old 20m dual link DVI cable didnt cut the mustard (it could do 75 Hz max) and i had to try several HDMI (prefered option as it is easier to get the cable head under the house and through the walls) cables until i found one that could do 144Hz this page has a nice table and lots of info to help you https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/729232-guide-to-display-cables-adapters-v2/
  4. Wow just had a look at the manual so it claims HDMI 1.4 input but yet wont suppot 1080p 144Hz which hdmi 1.4 should be able to handle would a hdmi to display port adapter work? i have never used one. but if your card can output at least hdmi 1.4 i cant see why it wouldnt? however once again i have never used one.
  5. yea i usually do that but untick the crap i dont want (i.e. geforce experiance).
  6. I take it the nvidia sound driver as well as display? my drivers were new as of the end of December (minus the sound one which could be the issue) Il try the cable swap and disable it over the monitor first
  7. Sicne i got a new monitor i have an anoying problem I have a dual display set-up when i got the new monitor i had to change to an hdmi cable (from DVI-D with HDMi adapter) so now i have both displays connected via HDMI what happens is my TV now loses audio and i have to disable audio over HDMI and re-enable it all the time now (Nvidia), i am not sure what causes this but it seems to be after it has gone to sleep but not exclusivley (maybe it is if i game (Steam) in between) the monitor is display 2 and is primary the tv is display 1 and is not the primary I havent tried much to fix this but maybe switching the HDMI ports on the card might help so that the montior is display 1 or permantly disabling the HDMI on the monitor since i use head phones for the montior and HDMI for sound on the TV at the end of the day this worked without issue on my old setup with the only difference was that the old monitor was connected using DVI-D (and it was display 1) and a HDMI adapter (i could still send sound thorugh this connection but i rarley did this however it was permantly enabled) has anyone experianced this and or knows of a fix to save me dicking round for days
  8. that to me is better more pixels per cm/inch = better quality panel, "cramped up pixels" = better image i.e 4K on a 24" vs a 32" at 4K the 24" panel is better back in the day there was a samsung syncmaster CRT (19") that had 0.2mm dot pitch that was the ducks nuts back then it all depends on what games you play if you play fighting games which are hard locked at 60 fps you would certainly want res over refresh rate moving from 1080p 60Hz to 1440p 144Hz i noticed the res >>>> than the refesh rate (which you can change to compare i.e 60 vs 144) P.S your computer horse power and your VGA upgrade cycle needs to be taken into consideration
  9. what is this non sense, HDMI 2.0 can do high refresh rates and res its you only option if you have to do long cable runs i have 1440p at 144Hz over a 15m HDMI cable (i had to try several cables in the end unamplified couldnt do it, the best i got was 100hz at 1440, so i had to bite the bullet and get and amplified cable that was twice the price of a no name chinese cable)
  10. I got 1440p at 144HZ over HDMI 2.0 plugs with a 15m HDMI cable (active)
  11. i have a samsung tv and got best results from the HDMI port which has the DVI label aswell. the one other odd thing about samsung tvs is you need to label the input channel as PC and it removes overscan etc
  12. AOC AGON AG241QX TN but very nice all the same, has antiglare coast but if you really hate that its not to har to remove
  13. nah tell them to drag there arses out of bed and come and remount your HSF you dont pay for a prebuilt system, to do one of the more risky assmebly parts yourself
  14. the old cable is most likley of higher quality when you increase res and or Hz you increase data in the signal cable, things like cable length etc start to have more of an impact
  15. when using long cables quality does actualy matter if you cant use a shorter cable you need to buy a cable that can handle 4K @ 60Hz it will be hit and miss unless the explictly state what it can handle
