  1. Damn that second one is tempting... Definitely will consider something exactly like that. Thank you!
  2. Budget (including currency): under 2000$ cad Country: canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA games, I would like to start playing with AI Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I've always built my own PCs but my last PC was around the time of the 980ti launch. For the past couple of years I haven't even owned a gaming PC. I saw this deal on a prebuilt tower and was wondering if I can build my own PC for less. https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/p/desktops/legion-desktops/legion-t-series-towers/-legion-tower-5i-gen-8-(26l,-intel)/90ut000wus?cid=ca:sem|se|google|shopping_else|gs_notebooks||90UT000WUS|9939988307|101472481835|pla-2269174642070|shopping|mix&gad_source=1 4070 or better is required. All help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks
  3. I'm not sure how real this actually is but I found this twitter thread..
  4. Her chromebook is so old that it's no longer getting updates (Chrome OS 76 i believe). No play store and i don't even think it supports enabling developer options so i can't sideload anything. It's fine for now though while she gets used to it and does her online classes. once she gets used to it i'll look into installing a light version of linux for more flexibility.
  5. LOL! the 5 year old got a chromebook because she still needs to learn that she can't throw electronics across the room when she's frustrated.. Her school is doing online classes and she needs a proper device. The chromebook gets the job done. For her i'd like some kind of games that practice basic computer usage and maybe a few logic based games. She can't read yet so i don't expect much!
  6. No, the school doesn't focus on any kind of computer education. It seems thats left to the parents. As for getting a windows laptop for the 5 year old, the chromebook was purchased for 60$ just in case it accidentally gets destroyed. maybe i n a year or so she can have a real PC.
  7. Our 5 year old received a Chromebook for Christmas and we would like to start getting her used to using computers instead of stabbing at her tablet screen with her fingers. It took her less than a day to get used to navigating Netflix using a touchpad instead of touching the screen and we would like some online games that can help her get used to using a computer and maybe even start teaching some logic/programming... though I'm not sure if these exists since she cant read yet. Our 9 year old already knows how to use a computer but received his first windows laptop for Christmas. We are also trying to find some free games that could introduce him to programming and logic. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
  8. You’re right I do notice that I can hear voices when used my over ear Sony xm3 headphones. Those do a very decent job but are impossible to sleep in..
  9. Those new LG ones are looking pretty good actually..
  10. My issue is that my girlfriend has a 5 year old. We don't currently live together but whenever she's over I don't sleep well because the child makes too much noise at night and in the morning. This causes me to sleep until late afternoon because i only get to sleep for an hour or 2 at a time before the noise wakes me up again. Tried earplugs but they don't work too well.. i want to try something comfortable with active noise canceling and see if that helps.
  11. I'm thinking of trying out some earbuds for sleeping for active noise cancelling. I remember seeing that Linus is already doing this but can't find the latest video where he mentions what he currently uses. I was wondering if anyone knows or even has any good alternative suggestions for me to research.
  12. I wanted to post this because if this was my brand I might be concerned.. and I work in brand protection..
  13. I don't think there is much worth moving, I have a couple of sata ssds, and the GPU that i would keep. Probably the PSU which is a seasonic 750 gold i believe. I think that with a CPU, motherboard, ram, case and maybe an m.2 drive I would be pretty good.
  14. My current PC is the following (the parts that matter): Core i5 3570k Asus V Formula eatx motherboard evga 980ti My current system is starting to show it's age and i would like something smaller than my current e-atx form factor since I will be moving into a new place with less available space. The way I see it, my current options are: Build a small form factor PC that I could fit in a small space OR get an e-gpu enclosure and use my current 980ti (for now) along with my dell XPS 13 9370. I'm also considering getting a new higher end gaming laptop instead of building a small form factor PC. I'm looking for opinions on which route to take. What do you guys think?
  15. I upgraded my home internet to a 400Mb down/50Mb up connection fairly recently and noticed that I was not consistently getting the speed I'm paying for. After some investigation, I noticed that CPU 1 on my Asus RT-68U Running merlin firmware version 380.57 gets consistently pinned at 100% and CPU 2 bounces between 30% and 60% during downloads. During this time my download speed rarely reaches it's maximum and usually hovers around 30MB\s (should be closer to 50MB\s). I've also noticed that internet browsing becomes sluggish when downloads are running that are allowed to use all the bandwidth. My question is: Have I reached the upper limit of my router\Is my router my new bottleneck? If yes, can anyone recommend a new router that would work reliably with my connection?
