  1. let me know how it goes, been curious about doing something like this myself
  2. I am kind of stuck with gpu. I went to a bunch of power supply calculators and they all said 650w or 750w recommended for my 4790k and a 6900xt. Was not true. So I have been using the 6900xt jerry rigged up with 2 power supplies. I thought about 7700x and it would make more of a difference in 1080p but from what I have seen 1440p does not make a huge difference. I figured this way I can have other stuff running in background if I chose to and shouldn't affect game performance too much. I do appreciate the feedback though.
  3. 1. Budget & Location Around the price of pc partpicker, United States 2. Aim Mainly playing video games at 1440p while watching twitch on second monitor. I play everything from Forager to COD while mixing in WOW. I am like a kid on crack, can't stay on one game. will use for handbrake also 3. Monitors 1 @ 1080p and 1 @ 1440p listed in pc partpicker, already own 4. Peripherals using old stuff for now 5. Why are you upgrading? Just want to, has been a while. Upgrading from 4790k and 1070. 6. Other hardware going to put in system PCI riser cable so I can mount GPU vertically. Hauppague WinTV HVR-1850 so I can digitize old home movies, already have the WinTV in current system. Additional details Plan on upgrading to PCI Gen 5 NVME in future for OS drive. This will be last computer for a long time want to be able to keep current hardware and just upgrade to new GPU in 5 to 7 years. Which is also why i went with 360 rad for cpu, just in case I do decide to upgrade to upgrade cpu later. Also so I can have fans on low while listening to youtube in background while I work from home. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KYXZjZ Tried to run 4790k with 6900xt on 750w power supply and it can't handle it. So sadly I will want a bigger power supply than what I need. Thank you guys for taking the time to look at my post and help. Just want to make sure I did not pick anything that is incompatible or miss anything that might be better. **edit** I already bought graphics card and cpu
  4. I figured since I am upgrading might as well do it. I was also going to reserve the ssd in case I used the computer to host a game for friends, have done it in the past but not that often. I have been out of the "tech loop" for a bit. Thought M.2 was nice to have, more of a 1st world problem I know.
  5. I have a build that I mainly use for plex server, handbrake, and have a hdmi ran to front room tv for watching youtube and stuff. I currently have a 500 GB SSD, OS drive, and 2 HGST Deskstar NAS 4TB hard drives in Raid 0. My hard drives are full and I want to upgrade. Please provide any constructive criticism you have. BTW i have extra hard drives not in the system I keep everything backed up to. 6. Looking at savage jerky any order over $49.00, after any discounts applied, gives free shipping. Atleast it does for me in the United States. That means you would have to buy 11 packs of jerky with LTT offer code to get free shipping which is 24.2 ounces.
  7. Yep coupon code LTT on savage jerky gives you 20% off which helps on the price
  8. Linus seems to really enjoy the Mapple Buffalo bacon also, they don't have any in stock though. And the mojo is out of stock. LOL Thanks for the reply, maybe when the Mapple Buffalo is in stock I will order some to try.
  9. Here is a pretty good video, I know I am probably late replying.
  10. I went to savage jerky website to buy some. Looking at the prices it is twice as expensive as Jack Links from walmart after the discount and buying 11 packages worth. Buy less at once and price is even more. So, is the taste/quality that much better? P.S. Not hating on them. I know most good stuff comes with a premium. Just curious if the community thinks it is that much better.
  11. You are recommending DDR4-3000 but the motherboard says DDR4 2933+(OC), what do I have to do to get the ram to work with the motherboard?
  12. Thanks everyone for their help. I looked at all the builds posted but I like to "sleep" on it before making a decision. If anybody else has any suggestions please feel free to post them.
  13. It's not that I hate it, i guess, but I just highly prefer wired connections. Less interference. When I upgrade my "wifi" setup it won't be as bad, just have to pick and choose what I upgrade. Right now I would prefer to upgrade my "home server".
  14. I appreciate your patience with me. I hate wifi so that is not a concern, lol. With VRM that is referring to the power phase correct? Don't they both have 12 power phase? I know newegg says that SLI/ac has 16 powerphase towards the top but if you scroll down it says it only has 12 power phase. If you go to Asrock website it says both boards are 12 power phase.
