  1. You will be fine. I have my Steam on my secondary drive (HDD) and Windows on the SSD. When I format the SSD, I can play my Steam games after simply by clicking on them in the secondary drive's Steam folder. Usually when I start it for the firs ttime it tells me a message about some paths that are messed up (somewhere along those line) and it does a little update that takes a few seconds, then it's all good. If you're really worried, you could make a backup of your games via Steam and store the backups on yet another folder (or partition) of your secondary drive, but that's not necessary IMO.
  2. AFAIK these programs work fine with OpenCL. They also take advantages of multiple cores, so an AMD CPU is more appropriate unless you can stretch your budget.
  3. It doesn't make it correct in regards to the law, but morality-wise it's alright, you paid for it already. Anyways, don't worry, the police won't come to your house because you torrented one game.
  4. ^This What kind of editing/rendering? For many programs having a FX-8320 with 8 cores is better, an Intel CPU with HT will be too expensive for your budget. Same thing for the Nvidia card, why do you absolutely want Nvidia? Is it because of CUDA? Have you considered OpenCL? Give us a list of programs you use, and it will give us a much better ideas of what you really need.
  5. I'd get headphones and modmic, you'll have a much better sound quality.
  6. Do you need periphericals like monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker, wireless adpater?

    Modmic for HD380 Pro

Thank you, but I only need to use the mic a few times a week, I'm not an hardcore online gamer or anything like that. I don't need the best sound quailty, just something that's not full of parasite and that gets the job done ^^ I agree that price/quality wise, the Zalman is not that good of a deal but if it gets the job done, it's still better than paying more for something that I won't use to its full extent, don't you think?
  8. Hello everyone, I found some brand new HD380 Pro at 125$, plus I have a 50$ gift-card at the store that sells them, so an awesome pair of headphones for only 75$ ^^ The only problem with headphones is that they lack the mic (duh) and I kinda need one from time to time. I was looking at modmics, and found this : http://www.amazon.ca/Zalman-ZM-MIC1-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1391090340&sr=1-1&keywords=modmic Is that the best I can get? The price doesn't bother me, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if there would be a noticeable quality increase, but I wouldn't mind paying less either I'm in Canada obviously. So, do you recommand that mic or something else? Thanks!
  9. Personally, I'd go for the EVGA with ACX Cooler, I have the 780 and it's really awesome. The DC2 is great too, I love ASUS so it's a good choice too. They're all good choices, but these are my two picks.
  10. My problem is now fixed, I reinstalled my old OS, Windows 7, and it's working fine now. No clue what the problem was, but glad it's working now. Thanks to everyone who helped me, it's very appreciated.
  11. Yeah, you could buy one of them wrist wrap to 'instantly' ground yourself, but touching the case works just fine. Avoid building it on carpet and stuff like that, and it'll be alright. Or a turned-off powered on PSU.
  12. Hello everyone, I'm Canadian, and I was thinking of getting the HD 558 headphones. They sell for 200$ on Amazon.ca, and only 127$ on Amazon.com. I haven't seen them that cheap (sub 150$) anywhere else in Canada, so I was considering ordering from the US. Would it be worth it? How much do they charge you at the border for the headphones? I've heard 'horror stories' of people having to pay over 100$ for the border 'fees', but some other say that it's perfectly fine. What should I do? Order from the US, or save a bit to afford them in Canada too? Thanks for the help!
  13. I'm running an overlocked 4770K and a 780 on 600W, so it will be plenty for you too. Not too sure about a second 7870, use a calculator to see the required power.
  14. 600W would be plenty for that, I'm sure you could manage with 500W too, as long as it's rated 80+ Bronze at least. If you plan to add another card in SLI in the future, you'll obviously need more, but you didn't mention that.
  15. In the Adapater Settings, it says that the Wifi is offline and there's a red X on it. When I go in ipconfig/all, the assigned IP is a private IP, starting with 169.254.x.x. There's no default gateway assigned. Obviously, the computer isn't able to get an IP from the routeur/modem, but I don't know why. I'm going to install Windows 7 later this afternoon, and reinstall the Wifi Adapter drivers (I was using the latest for W8 x64 from the manufacturer website) and see how it goes. I wish I had another wifi adapter to test. =/ I'm seriously considering powerline adapters, the computer I'm using is right above the modem, one level above though. It would be a pain to dig a hole in the floor to route the ethernet cable. However, if I'm using a powerline adapter, it would probably work fine, but I don't know. Any solutions guys? Thanks all for helping!
