Hello everyone,
I'm looking into building a new computer, and I am having a little bit of trouble. I'm currently looking into getting a x299 motherboard, and the intel i9 7980XE. I'm at a loss as to figuring out how to set up the PCIe x16 slots. Ideally I would like to have two GPUs in SLI, as well as two Intel Optane SSD drives that require PCIe x4 running in raid 0. Would this be possible? For example, I am looking at a motherboard that says that with a 44 PCIe lane CPU I could get x16/x16/x8. So the two GPUs will take the x16/x16, but if I install two SSDs in the two remaining PCIe slots, will it run x16/x16/x4/x4? Or will the fourth slot containing the second SSD not work as the motherboard specs say x16/x16/x8?
Any information regarding how to understand all of this would be greatly appreciated. I've been having a difficult time wrapping my mind around it by myself.
