Since the RX 590 and the GTX 1660 cost the same I'd recommend the latter. If you want to spend less (but I wouldn't spend more than 180$ for it) you could buy a RX 580. If you don't care about power consumption and are willing to buy used a GTX 980 Ti should be fine.
-
The RX 570 is still fine, but you can't expect to max out every single AAA title and get 1080p@60 at all times, so the RTX 2060S should be a viable upgrade for that. Maybe you could save a little and still get a decent performance uplift with a RTX 2060 (non Super), GTX 1660 Ti or RX 5700 or even RX 5700 XT (but if I were you I would wait a couple of weeks for the AIB models to be available for Na'vi, since the stock cooler sucks).

Monster Hunter: World is quite a demanding game, even paired with a i9-9900K I recall the RX 580 averaging around 45 fps on ultra. Maybe you could crank up some settings and still see no or negligible loss of performance due to a CPU bottleneck, especially in some situations like being surrounded by NPCs. I don't know about Ride 2 though

Hi everyone! Let me share something I have been noticing for the last 3-4 hours: I was stubbornly (?) trying to beat #1 Time Spy for i5-2400 + RX 580 systems. I was obviously going to try by overclocking the sh*t out of my GPU. Well, after like 30 runs of Time Spy I gave up due to thermal throttling (it was pointless to try this today since it's a sunny 36 °C day) and poor memory overclocking: even with 1200 mV on the memory controller I only managed to get to 2025 MHz and it wasn't even fully stable (memory voltage was set in WattMan); keep in mind that I was achieving 1480 MHz with a core offset of +40 mV. So I went to Afterburner to wipe my overclock and reapply my original settings: -200 mV and 1300 MHz on the core. Then I tried, just for the sake of it, to overclock my VRAM again: now it sits stable at 2250 MHz at stock voltage (950 mV). So my question is: how GPU overclocking can have an impact on VRAM overclocking? Was it a thermal issue, was it due to VRM design or something else? Have you ever experienced something similar?

If I buy an RX 550 and in a reasonably short time I manage to upgrade the rig I'll have to spend money again on another GPU (the RX 550 won't be enough anymore)...
-
Why the LP GPU?
-
For just 20 euros more I can have a far more capable GPU, if I'm upgrading the system why should I buy a 550?
-
I was thinking the same. Maybe used hardware has a better price/performance ratio
-
Not bad, though I don't need the case and the PSU since mine are still valuable
-
Don't actually know, but since it's LGA775 if I plan on upgrading the CPU I'll have to buy another one
-
I don't actually plan on staying LGA775, CPU should be one of the most important upgrades along with mobo and RAM. So I was wondering if I would see some actual benefit buying a Ryzen 3 1200 or a G4560 or even some older CPUs that I can easily find on eBay. I live in Italy, so I use euros. Let's say I have like 500 euros to build the whole machine, so imagine buying CPU, mobo, RAM and GPU for about 400 dollars (pricing here is much higher than in US)

Won't the i5 2400 bottleneck a 1050 Ti?
-
Hi guys, I'm theoretically, in a long time, due to lack of money, upgrading a 2006 rig. It consists of a Core 2 Duo E6600, 4GB of DDR2 800 MHz, three HDD (two of which RAID 0) and a dead GTX 460 (I'm currently using a 100000-year-old AMD of unknown origin ). I wanted to pick a GTX 1050 or a RX 560 to have the possibility of playing old (max 2012) games on a 1280x1024 monitor. Turns out the CPU will bottleneck the system as hell, so I'm asking you: what could be the cheapest and most effective way to upgrade this junkyard? Thanks in advance

Ok, guys, you're scaring me, I don't have money to upgrade the whole rig right now, but since we are going off-topic I suggest moving to another thread. Give me a minute and I'll write back
