  1. I recently had a post for a build i was working on and discovered that i was using the wrong modular power cables for my psu. This caused incorrect voltages to reach the wrong pins on my drives, hdds ssd and dvd. My first thought is that the pcb on all these drives has been cooked more well done than a whopper from burger king. But what if they're not. I am very skilled with a soldering iron, i have even changed surface mount resistors and capacitors on logic boards in some cell phones. So maybe i can repair these pcb's also. Looking for any info about this subject before i remove pcb from any of these drives. Thanks again techs. Hope to hear from you all soon.
  2. Back againl finally, between work and family my gaming takes back seat so only had a few hours here and there to do work on this. I did however have some good and bad results and figured out the root cause of my issues. The good. I've got both my systems running again. Fresh bios updates on all my boards, fresh windows 10 on both systems. The bad. The issues were caused by using the wrong modular power cables. As mentioned before i was using a corsair 600w semi modular and a seasonic 400w full modular. After disassemly of the systems i grouped up all my wires and used the ones that were of best length and with enough connectors to fit each case. However the pinouts for the peripheral cables is different between these power supplies (as I'm now sure is the same for other brands) causing incorrect voltages to reach the wrong pins on my drives. This has caused the death of most of my hdds my ssd and my dvd drives. I'm now currently in search of any ways to repair the drives if possible, or at very least a way to recover the data off the hard disks. I will also be sure to mention this as a consideration for future 'no post after new build' threads.
  3. Powering hdd with second psu (jumper from green to black) My Tb drives are jow being recognised, but neither of my 500gb or dvds. Checking for bios updates and then going to bed for the night. Will be back at this again tomorrow and will be better set up to test. Thank you for help so far.
  4. Semi ports consist of 3x6pin for sata/peripheral and 1x8pin pcie. Same issue using every sata power wire, every port of psu and every data cable and port on mobo
  5. The 600w that's in it right now is semi modular, the 400w that came in it is full modular. Issue is present with both, and i don't have access to the 400 tonight to do further test with it. 8pin cpu power had an extension attatched to it previously which i removed, and reinstalled, and removed again so i can say with confidence that wasn't the cause
  6. Elo gaming. I'm refering to internal peripherals, dvd drive and hdd. All Usb work fine when it posts, can use my keyboard or mouse in this bios
  7. What other specs do you need jde? And constant posting without peripherals, only the one hdd will allow post but isn't recognised by bios. Any other peripherals either single or multiple and i get the same issue
  8. Hello, I'm currently working on a new build and have run into a strange issue preventing me from finishing. Cpu: i5 6500 Mobo: gigabyte ga-h170-d3hp Ram: gskill ripjaws4 8Gx2 Psu: corsair cx600m semi modular Gpu: GTX 650 Bought the system, minus gpu, already built with 3hdd (1x500G 2x1T) and a failed win 10 install. It also had a seasonic 400W modular psu that i swapped out for my corsair. Previous owner didn't want to bother fixing and had bought a Dell before i could offer to reinstall. So i bought it cheap. System was booting and looping at windows load screen until after i swapped psu and installed gpu. Now it will only post with mobo and gpu powered, any peripheral power connected and it flashes leds and fans spin for just a half second. One hdd i have from another pc will post but not recognised by bios. I have tried putting 400w psu back in, same issue remains. Tried removing gpu so it was in the exact configuration as when it looped in windows. Same issue remains. Tried one ram stick at a time, with and without gpu. Same issue remains. Tried clearing cmos, same issue still remains. This entire system has less than 12 hours of total run time, including the win10 install. I have never encountered a boot issue like this and besides a much much older pc (pentium 4 old) with a bad mobo, i have always been able to get things working by going through the motions, and I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (400w psu was to be installed in another pc and a similar issue exists in that build also, however a cheap non modular psu runs that other pc for some reason, more confusion for another day)
