So recently I got my hands on a 3070ti from micro center, and then I picked up an 850 g5 power supply to go along with it. I ran the 3070ti on my old 650 gq for 2 days until the new psu came in and it ran perfectly fine during that time even under load.
I went to install the new psu and like a dummy didint check the cables to make sure all the pins were the same, and used the ones that were already in it from the 650w psu, so I ended up activating the short circuit protection on the psu by not using new ones. Once I replaced all the cables with the ones that came with the new psu it booted up just fine and ran perfectly even under load. Fast forward a couple days to now and in the past 24 hours the computer has just randomly shut off on me with no explanation. When I look at it I see the psu light is still on and the motherboard and water cooler lights are still on and cycling normally, but when I press the power button to start it back up it doesnt work, so i cycle the power off and on on the psu and sure enough, boots right up as if nothing happened.
I have checked the reliability center and only the third time it shut off did it tell me that windows didint shut down properly.
Im not sure what else could have caused this besides the accidental short circuit that was hopefully prevented by the psu, I cant come up with any other explanation for this besides the fact that I have it running on a power strip, but even then it has shut off twice not even under load. Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance
