  1. Glad you decided to do the maths. now if we divide that by 4 we get 1450. that means Kyro should be getting around 900-1000 depending on the way 40% is defined. not that impressive.
  2. Your chart says 530 is 40% over 430. This chart says the A9 is 60% over the 430 (In the One M9). I dont see how a 40% increase is bigger than a 60% increase?
  3. well the A53 is basically the same speed as A35 so thats not a problem. when we know the clocks, it will be much easier to extrapolate some useful data, but even now, those 4 tiny cores cant really give many percents of performance, relative to the M1 cores.
  4. so now we will report every little thing that plagues any device that comes to the market? Literally every device will have some samples that wont work as intended. Reporting on it like its the end of the world is beyond retarded...
  5. Even if it isnt, those custom cores will dominate the benchmark, with the A35 cluster only adding a few percent. Kyro seems to be another bad swing for Qualcomm. Really want to see Intel step it up in 2016
  6. the 8890 is 4x Samsung thing + 4x A35 right? If so, we can deduce the score just the Custom cluster would get.
  7. That i agree with, but historically QM likes to use their cores for a few generations. In general user tasks it of course wont matter if its Kyro or a haswell core. But that doesnt mean we dont need more performance. You want faster cores because that means more idle time, meaning better battery usage. (among other things, with VR going to phones)... And when your core is barely competitive even before it launches, and you like to keep your cores for a while, it spells no good for competitiveness in a few years. Also i dont understand what you mean by shit battery life. Samsung is currently the only Android provider with a 14nm (well kinda 14, not really) SOC, which draws MUCH less power than any other chip out there. If their batteries dont last as long, its not the SOC's fault.
  8. not true, you can write things down, since instructions and operands had to be chosen manually, and assuming infinite time, that means infinite memory
  9. look up where to get transistors. then look up how to make simple adders, logic gates and the likes. then look up how to make a SRAM cell. then figure out a way to have them interconnected. congratulations you have a touring complete machine. / Is it any good? no. Is it fun to do? hell yeah. ive seen it done by some fellow students. it required manual selection of instructions and operands, and worked slower than an FX4100 (if tahts even possible), BUT, given infinite time, would be just as good as a supercomputer
  10. Yes but with FF, you cant clock chips as high as planar processes anymore.
  11. A9 runs at 1.8GHz. With some fast math, clock for clock Typhoon is still 5 percent faster.... And we've seen Apple not being afraid of high clocks now that they are on a FinFET process. I really hope Kryo is designed to run at 2.4ish GHz because otherwise, QM will need a better version really damn fast to stay competitive.
  12. My thoughts exactly. QM had YEARS to prepary Kyro, im pretty sure they focused on single core performance very much... being barely 25% over A53 doesnt sound pleasant, especially with A72 being shipped soon, samsung doing its own thing, and Typhoon just killing it all. And then there is intel on the horizon... If this is really Kyro, Qualcomm will suffer a major blow in the next few quarters
  13. Im pretty sure even Skylake has the 512b registers already, they just dont enable it in software. (just extrapolating from the leaked roadmaps showing Sk Xeons having AVX512
  14. Working does not mean no issues. maybe a certain function of those programs calls for a DLL that microsoft has updated, so that function call no longer executes, meaning a crash, or worse.
  15. No big engine even supports AVX by default. Those that are W8 and above support SSE2, thats it.
  16. well then go ebay, you answered it yourself... and remember, its its too good to be true it is
  17. 1 why not 2 i know, but is that the q6600 arch? 3 well they are a tech company, even if he isnt willing to sell that one, they might have osme spares or they know people who do
  18. craigslist? Is that codename for the q6600? if so, ask @LinusTech if he is willing to sell the one from the Scrapyard wars PC?

i like them because generally i find them easier to drink. i can just have one whenever, unlike ales. i need to actually prepare my body for them. eat, rest and not be tired. with stouts i dont give a fuck

may be, ive tried basically all that are available here. and a bottle brought from ireland, specifically for me. cant really decide which one was the best for me, but when it comes to stouts, Fullers Oyster can not be beaten
